To earn the Dog’s Best Friend trophy in Control Resonant, complete the dog-and-toy encounter in each of seven zones, then return to The Gap and interact with the dog one last time. At each zone, find the dog, retrieve her nearby plush toy, bring it back, and interact with her. The Gap visit is the final step.

Before you start: what counts as a dog location?

There are seven zone encounters, plus the final interaction in The Gap. Some guides count that last interaction as an eighth dog location, but it is not another zone. Finding a dog alone does not complete an encounter: return the recurring plush toy to her and interact with her.

Some locations depend on traversal abilities or story progression. Shift is needed for routes in the West Incursion Zone and Evacuation Zone; the Underpass requires Gravity Shift and Reach; and access to the dog in Unknown opens through Pope’s Research. The Park route also requires powering a lift. There is no established fixed order for the encounters, so you can complete them as their routes become accessible.

Dog locations and toy routes

1. Downtown

  1. Look for the dog on a rooftop in the southwest corner of Downtown.
  2. Go to the next roof to the left to find the plush toy.
  3. Bring the toy back and interact with the dog.

2. Central

  1. Find the dog on an eastern rooftop.
  2. Head down to the alley in the direction the dog is facing. The toy is at the end of it.
  3. Return the toy and interact with the dog.

3. West Incursion Zone

  1. After obtaining Shift through the “Jesse Sightings: The Incursion Fault” story progression, use it to reach the rooftop in the northwest corner, where the dog is waiting.
  2. Look on the next roof in the direction the dog faces for the toy.
  3. Bring it back and interact with the dog.

4. Evacuation Zone

  1. Find the dog on a northern rooftop.
  2. The toy is on the upside-down roof directly above. Use Shift to latch onto that roof and retrieve it.
  3. Use Shift again to get back to the dog, then return the toy and interact with her.

5. The Park

  1. Go to the northeast area of The Park to find the dog.
  2. The toy is behind her on a roof reached by a yellow lift.
  3. Power the lift from the Power Core Station. The direct route is too long, so use the power box on an intermediate rooftop to complete the connection.
  4. Ride the lift to the toy, then bring it back to the dog and interact with her.

6. Underpass

  1. Find the dog on a platform between Halfway Trail and the Research Site. Reaching her requires Gravity Shift and Reach.
  2. The toy is directly above on the opposite gravity floor. Use the radiator and nearby pillars to reach it.
  3. Use the Gravity Shift and Reach route to return to the dog with the toy, then interact with her.

7. Unknown

  1. Complete Pope’s Research to reach the northwest island, where the dog is located.
  2. The toy is farther away, on the skyscraper the dog faces. Use Gravity Shift on the neighboring building to reach it.
  3. Bring the toy back to the dog and interact with her.

Finish the trophy in The Gap

Once all seven zone encounters are complete, hold down to visit The Gap. Interact with the dog there to trigger Dog’s Best Friend. PowerPyx also reports an Untapped Trusted Spanner artifact reward for this final interaction.

When to do the dog encounters

Several routes require abilities earned through story progression, and Unknown is late-game content. That makes the encounters practical to handle later or during cleanup. This is a route-planning convenience, not evidence that the trophy is missable or that you must follow a particular order.

What the toy looks like

Guides describe the recurring plush differently: one calls it a small blue dragon, while another calls it a purple dinosaur. Use the dog’s location and the route clues to spot the object rather than relying on a precise color or creature name.
