How to Find and Use Notification Center on iPhone in iOS 27

To open Notification Center on an iPhone, swipe up from the middle of the Lock Screen, or swipe down from the top center of any other screen. In Notification Center, scroll up to view older notifications when available.

Open Notification Center from the screen you’re on

From the Lock Screen

1. Swipe up from the middle of the screen to view notifications. Apple’s iOS 27 notification guide also describes this gesture for viewing earlier notifications.

1. Swipe down from the top center of the screen. Avoid starting at the edge: the gesture Apple specifies for Notification Center begins at the top center.

2. Scroll up in Notification Center to see older notifications, if there are any.

Close Notification Center

Swipe up from the bottom with one finger. On an iPhone with a Home button, you can also press the Home button to close it.

If notifications are hidden on the Lock Screen

Notification Center’s Lock Screen access and the notification details shown there are controlled by separate settings. Apple’s iOS 27 Lock Screen guide explains how to adjust notification previews, while its notification guide covers allowing access while locked.

• Change preview visibility: Go to Settings > Notifications > Show Previews, then choose Always, When Unlocked, or Never.

• Check Lock Screen access: Go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode or Touch ID & Passcode, then review Notification Center under Allow Access When Locked. The available passcode menu depends on your iPhone.

These settings affect what you can access or see from the Lock Screen. From another screen, the gesture for opening Notification Center remains a swipe down from the top center.
