The most reliable way to keep track of Nintendo Switch games is to separate discovery from monitoring: browse Nintendo eShop categories on your Switch (or, where available, your regional Nintendo website), then save promising products in the Nintendo Store app’s Wish List or in a simple personal list. Nintendo of America documents sale notifications for items on that app Wish List, but its information does not confirm that every digital Nintendo eShop game listing is covered. Always open the current regional game page before buying because prices, availability and promotions change.

Choose the right official route first

Nintendo provides two useful, but different, ways to find games. The Nintendo eShop on a Switch or Switch 2 is the primary place to browse and buy digital games. Nintendo’s UK storefront guide also describes access through the Nintendo website. Separately, the US Nintendo Store app offers a product Wish List with sale notifications. These routes should not be treated as one synchronized wishlist: the cited information comes from different regional Nintendo pages and does not establish feature parity.

Route Best use What Nintendo explicitly describes Important limitation
Nintendo eShop on Switch or Switch 2 Discovering, evaluating and purchasing digital games, demos and downloadable content The UK eShop guide lists recent releases, top deals, free games and apps, free demos, and DLC. Categories and prices can differ by country. The guide does not document a universal wishlist or sale-alert system.

The cited instructions are UK-specific. Use your own country’s Nintendo support information for account, download and purchasing rules.
Nintendo Store app Wish List Saving Nintendo product listings and receiving alerts described by the app page Nintendo of America says you can tap a heart icon to save a product and can receive notifications when Wish List items go on sale. The US app page does not establish that notifications cover every digital eShop game listing, nor that the list syncs with an eShop wishlist in another region.

Find games in Nintendo eShop

Browse the categories that match your intent

Open Nintendo eShop on your Switch or Switch 2 and start with the category that answers your immediate question rather than scrolling through one undifferentiated catalog. Nintendo UK’s June 11, 2026 eShop guidance identifies five useful discovery areas:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Recent releases: a starting point when you want newly launched games.
  • Top deals: the fastest route to current discounts, but not a permanent record of every game you may want later.
  • Free games and apps: useful for no-cost downloads and applications.
  • Free demos: a low-commitment way to test supported games before purchasing.
  • DLC: additional content for games you already own or are researching.

Your country’s storefront may show different categories, ordering and availability. Treat those headings as the structure documented for the UK storefront, then use the equivalent categories displayed in your own eShop. Do not assume that a title, demo or discount shown in one region is available in another.

Capture the details while you are browsing

When a game looks interesting, open its product page before moving on. Record the exact title, edition, region, current price, sale end date if shown, download size if displayed, and whether the page offers a demo or DLC. This prevents a common tracking mistake: remembering a game name but forgetting which edition or promotion you actually meant to buy.

A practical note can be as short as:

Title | Region | Edition | Current price | Sale end | Demo/DLC | Where saved | Last checked

Use the title exactly as Nintendo displays it. Similar names, deluxe editions and bundles can have different prices and content. If the page does not state a field, leave it unrecorded rather than guessing.

Use the website when a larger screen helps

Nintendo UK says its eShop can also be accessed through the Nintendo website. A browser is useful when you want to compare several product pages, copy a title into your notes or review a listing away from the console. The storefront guide is UK-specific, so the presence, layout and purchasing behavior of a website in another country must be checked on that region’s Nintendo site.

Track products with the Nintendo Store app—carefully

What the US app Wish List does

Nintendo of America’s app description says users can tap the heart icon to save a product to the Nintendo Store app’s Wish List. It also says: “You can even receive notifications when items on your Wish List go on sale!” This is the clearest official sale-alert feature in the supplied Nintendo information.

Use the feature as a product-level reminder:

  1. Install and sign in to the Nintendo Store app supported for your region.
  2. Open the product listing you may buy later.
  3. Tap the heart icon to add that product to the Wish List.
  4. Allow app notifications in the app and in your phone’s operating-system settings if you want alerts.
  5. When an alert arrives, open the listing and verify the live price, edition and region before purchasing.

The app page covers games as well as hardware and merchandise. It does not clarify whether every digital Nintendo eShop game listing is represented or whether a sale notification always refers to a digital download. Therefore, describe this as the Nintendo Store app’s product wishlist, not as a guaranteed tracker for all eShop games.

Know when the app is not enough

If a game cannot be found in the app, do not infer that it is unavailable in eShop. Conversely, seeing a game-related product in the app does not prove that its digital eShop listing, regional price or sale status is included in the app’s notifications. Keep a separate note for digital titles discovered directly in eShop, especially when the app and console use different regional storefronts.

  • Nintendo eShop Digital Cards are redeemable only through the Nintendo eShop on the Nintendo Switch, Wii U, and Nintendo 3DS family of systems.

Build a dependable personal tracker

A personal list is the safest fallback for titles that the app does not clearly cover. It also lets you track games across regions, platforms or release windows without claiming that Nintendo synchronizes those records.

Use one row per purchase decision

Create a note or spreadsheet with one row for each edition you might buy. Include:

  • Exact listing name: copy the title and edition from Nintendo’s page.
  • Region: record the country storefront you checked.
  • Reason to buy: for example, a demo you enjoyed, a particular feature or a gift plan.
  • Price observed: include the currency and the date checked.
  • Sale details: record an advertised end date, if the page supplies one.
  • Purchase status: interested, waiting for a discount, ready to buy or purchased.
  • Last verification: the date you last opened the official listing.

Keep the list factual. “Waiting for a lower price” is a personal decision; it is not a prediction that Nintendo will discount the game. Remove a row after buying, or mark it purchased so you do not accidentally buy the wrong edition twice.

Set reminders without promising a sale

If a product page shows a promotion end date, set a calendar reminder one or two days before that date to recheck the listing. The reminder only tells you to look again; it does not mean a new promotion will begin afterward. For games without a stated end date, schedule an occasional review at a frequency that suits your budget instead of assuming a discount cycle.

A complete discovery-to-purchase workflow

  1. Start in your own regional eShop. Open the storefront on Switch or Switch 2, or use the website supported in your region.
  2. Choose a discovery category. Check recent releases, deals, free games and apps, demos or DLC according to what you are seeking.
  3. Open the full product page. Confirm the exact title, edition, publisher information shown by Nintendo, current price and any demo or DLC relationship.
  4. Decide where to save it. Use the Nintendo Store app heart icon when the product is available there, and add the title to your personal tracker in all cases where you need a durable record.
  5. Record the observation. Write down region, currency, price and date. Add a sale end date only when Nintendo displays one.
  6. Wait or buy based on your own rule. A rule such as “buy at the current price if I want to play now; otherwise review during the next budget check” is more reliable than an assumed discount schedule.
  7. Respond to an alert or reminder. Open the official listing rather than relying on an old notification preview or saved price.
  8. Verify before checkout. Check the current price, edition, account region, available storage and whether you are buying a digital game, DLC or another product type.
  9. Complete the purchase in the supported storefront. Follow the on-screen Nintendo account and payment instructions for your region.
  10. Update your tracker. Mark the item purchased and retain the edition and region for your records.

How to get notified when a Switch game goes on sale

The only sale-notification wording established here is Nintendo of America’s statement about items on the Nintendo Store app Wish List. If the game appears as a supported product in that US app, add it with the heart icon and enable notifications. Treat the resulting alert as a prompt to investigate, not as proof that a specific digital eShop price has changed.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For games found only in eShop, use the personal tracker and calendar method above. Reopen the game’s current regional page whenever you check. Nintendo UK explicitly tells readers to check Nintendo eShop or individual game pages for the latest pricing information, so a dated sale list, screenshot or note should never be treated as the live price.

Why saved prices go stale

Digital prices and promotions change. A price written in a note is a historical observation, not a standing offer. Currency, tax treatment, regional availability and edition contents can also differ. Keep the currency and storefront beside every recorded price, and never transfer a UK price to another country’s account.

Perform a final three-part check

  • Listing: Is this the exact game, bundle, edition or DLC you intended?
  • Price: What does the official page show now, including any displayed promotion terms?
  • Account and region: Is the purchase being made through the Nintendo account and storefront you actually use?

If any answer is unclear, stop and reopen the official product page. This takes less time than correcting a purchase made for the wrong edition or account.

UK web-purchase and download requirements

Nintendo UK’s June 11, 2026 instructions attach several requirements to website purchases and automatic downloads. They are not universal instructions for every country, so use them as a UK checklist only:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Link a Nintendo Account to the console. The UK page says a Nintendo Account linked to the console is required for website purchases.
  2. Register the console as the active console for downloads. Nintendo UK instructs users to visit Nintendo eShop on that console first.
  3. Prepare the system. Automatic downloads require an updated, internet-connected system.
  4. Enable automatic downloads. The relevant setting must be turned on; it is not enough for the console merely to be online.
  5. Check storage. The console needs enough available space for the download.

If a web purchase does not begin downloading, check these conditions in order, then consult the support instructions for your country. Do not assume that changing a setting documented for the UK will resolve an account or console issue elsewhere.

Use eShop Cards as funding, not tracking

Nintendo’s official printable Wish List identifies Nintendo eShop Cards as a gift option. An eShop Card can be useful after you have chosen a digital game and want to fund the purchase, but it does not discover titles, save a product listing or generate sale alerts.

Before buying or redeeming a card, verify the card’s region and current terms for your account. The cited material does not establish current stock, retailer availability or cross-region compatibility, so those details must be checked at the time of purchase.

Troubleshoot the most common tracking problems

A game is in eShop but not in the app

Keep it in your personal tracker. The app’s description does not promise coverage of every digital eShop listing, so absence from the app is not evidence that the game is unavailable.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

You received a sale notification but cannot find the same price

Open the listing from the notification, confirm the account region and check the current product page. The notification may refer to a product listing rather than the digital edition you expected, and prices can change after an alert.

Your saved price no longer matches checkout

Use the current eShop or game page as the authority. Replace the old entry in your tracker with the new price, date and currency rather than keeping both figures without labels.

A web purchase does not download automatically

For the UK instructions, confirm the linked Nintendo Account, active-download-console registration, system update, internet connection, automatic-download setting and available storage. If you are outside the UK, follow your region’s current Nintendo support guidance instead.

You are tracking several editions of one game

Create separate rows and label each edition. A standard game, bundle, DLC package or physical product can appear under similar wording but represent different purchases.

A simple decision rule

  • Need to discover something new? Start with the categories in your regional Nintendo eShop.
  • Want a Nintendo product sale alert? Use the Nintendo Store app Wish List where that app is supported, while remembering its digital-eShop coverage is not established.
  • Want a record that works for every title? Maintain your own tracker with region, edition, price and date.
  • Ready to buy? Recheck the live official page, then confirm account, edition, currency and storage.
  • Need purchase funds? Consider a region-appropriate Nintendo eShop Card only after selecting the game; it is a payment method, not a discovery feature.

This combination avoids the two most damaging assumptions: that one wishlist automatically includes every Nintendo eShop game, and that a saved price remains current. Use eShop for discovery and checkout, the app for the product-alert feature Nintendo documents, and your own notes for complete coverage.
