To find the right Bose QuietComfort earbud tips, first identify your exact earbud model: QuietComfort Ultra, QuietComfort Ultra (2nd Gen), QuietComfort Earbuds (2024), or an earlier QuietComfort Earbuds model. Their tips and stability bands are not universally interchangeable. Then try sizes in each ear separately, aim for a comfortable seal, and replace a tip gently using the steps for your model.
Identify your exact QuietComfort model before choosing tips
“QuietComfort” appears in the names of several Bose earbuds. Check the product name in the Bose app or your original packaging, then match it to the model named on the replacement-kit page. Do not choose a kit based only on a similar name or appearance.
Bose explicitly says its 2024 QuietComfort Earbuds Fit Kit is not compatible with the QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds Fit Kit. The bands have different holes and port alignments, so a similar-looking kit may not fit correctly. Bose’s 2024 QuietComfort Fit Kit page states this incompatibility.

- QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (original): The standard Fit Kit has small, medium, and large tips and size 1, 2, and 3 stability bands. Bose also lists an alternate kit with XS and XL tips and size 0 and 4 bands. See the standard Fit Kit and alternate sizing kit.
- QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen): Bose’s fit guidance lists S/M/L tips and bands 1/2/3, and describes an alternate fit path with XS/XL tips and bands 0/4. Confirm the generation and kit details on Bose’s 2nd Gen fit guide.
- QuietComfort Earbuds (2024): Use the separate 2024 QuietComfort Earbuds Fit Kit, which has S/M/L tips and bands 1/2/3.
- Earlier QuietComfort Earbuds: The user guide describes tips numbered 1, 2, and 3, with size 2 attached initially. Follow that model’s guide rather than assuming a newer kit fits: Bose QuietComfort Earbuds User Guide.
Choose a size by testing each ear separately
A good tip should rest gently at the ear-canal opening and form a comfortable seal. A tip that feels cramped or squished may be too large; one that sits too deep, feels loose, or slips when you move may be too small. These fit checks are described in Bose’s QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen) wearing and fit guidance.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Start with the tips supplied with your exact earbuds. Try one size in your left ear and assess it before choosing a size for the right.
- Insert the earbud and check whether the tip rests comfortably at the canal opening. It should seal without pressure or a deep, unstable feeling.
- Move your head gently. If the earbud loosens or falls out, try a larger tip; if the tip feels compressed or uncomfortable, try a smaller one.
- For Ultra models with stability bands, check that the band rests against the ear ridge without sticking out or feeling compressed. Change the band size independently of the tip size.
- Repeat the checks on the other ear. Bose notes that different eartip or band sizes may be needed on each side.
On covered Ultra models, use the Bose app’s Earbud Seal Test from the earbuds’ Settings menu. If it does not indicate a good fit, try another tip or band combination and test again. The app test supplements comfort and stability checks; do not keep an uncomfortable size just to match the other ear.
Replace a tip without damaging it
QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds and Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen)
- Hold the earbud securely. Gently squeeze the eartip and peel it away from the nozzle; do not yank on the edge, which can tear it.
- Choose the replacement tip and align it with the nozzle.
- Press the tip onto the nozzle until it snaps into place and clicks securely.
- Insert the earbud and check its fit. If you changed the tip, check whether a different stability-band size is needed too.
Bose gives these removal and fitting instructions in the original Ultra user guide and the 2nd Gen Ultra user guide.

Check the stability band on original Ultra Earbuds
When fitting a band on the original QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds, align the dot on the band with the gray dot on the bottom of the earbud. Make sure the band’s microphone hole sits over the earbud microphone, and avoid pulling on the band’s thin section. Bose notes that the two earbuds may need different band sizes. See Bose’s original Ultra specifications and fit information.

When to consider an alternate sizing kit
Try the standard sizes that came with your earbuds first. If none gives a comfortable, stable seal, look for the alternate kit explicitly named for your generation. For the original Ultra, Bose’s alternate kit provides XS and XL tips plus size 0 and 4 bands; the 2nd Gen fit guide also describes those outlier sizes. The standard original Ultra kit contains S/M/L tips and bands 1/2/3. Kit names are similar, so verify the exact product generation before ordering.
Bose’s US product pages listed the original Ultra standard Fit Kit at $15 and the alternate kit at $10 when the pages were crawled. These are price snapshots, not guaranteed current prices; check the relevant Bose page for current price, stock, and regional availability.
