To install a game you claimed or purchased, open the Epic Games Launcher, go to Library, select the game, choose an installation folder, and click Install. When the download finishes, select the game’s icon to launch it. Epic’s website lets you browse and purchase games, but you need the desktop Launcher to view and manage your Library or download games.
Find and install the game in the Epic Games Launcher
- Open the Epic Games Launcher and sign in to the Epic account that owns the game.
- Select Library in the Launcher.
- Find the game. Use the Library search if needed; Epic says searching with part of a title can work.
- Select the game, choose where to install it, and click Install.
- After the download completes, click the game’s icon to launch it.
Use the Library to find games you have claimed or purchased. Store search is for finding game listings, not for managing your collection.
If a claimed game is missing from the Library
First separate a visibility problem from an access problem. A title may be in your account but hidden by the Launcher’s view or filters; it may also be unavailable because the account or entitlement is different than expected.

Check the account and Library display
- Confirm the account. Make sure you are signed into the Epic account used to claim the game. If you originally signed in through an external service such as Google or Facebook, try that same login route.
- Check whether the Library is hidden. In the Launcher settings, look for the option that hides the Game Library and turn it off if enabled.
- Clear filters. Turn off the Installed filter, which limits the view to games already installed. Reset any other filters that could exclude the title, then refresh the Library view.
- Restart the Launcher and clear its webcache. Epic recommends both steps when the Library does not display games correctly. Follow Epic’s current support instructions for clearing the cache, since the steps can vary by operating system.
Check whether you still have access
- Operating-system compatibility: A game that does not support your operating system cannot be downloaded or launched on it.
- Refund: A refunded game is removed from the Library.
- Time-limited access: Beta or press builds may disappear when their access period ends. These are different from games claimed during a free promotion: Epic says previously claimed free-promotion games remain in the Library permanently.
- Revoked retail code: If a code is reported as fraudulent, access may be revoked. Epic advises contacting the retailer.
- Gift: A game sent as a gift will not appear in the sender’s own Library; check the recipient account instead.
Use the Launcher, not the website, to download
The Epic Games Store website supports browsing and purchasing, but Epic says downloading games and managing the Library require the Epic Games Launcher. If you claimed a game on the website and cannot find a download button there, open the Launcher and check the Library under the account used for the claim.
