Open Settings on your Galaxy phone or tablet.
-
Tap the Settings search icon and enter Always On Display. Samsung’s current US instructions use this search route. See Samsung US’s AOD instructions, Samsung UK’s guide, and Samsung Singapore’s guide.

|---|---|---|
| Tap to show | Shows AOD briefly after you tap the screen. | You want to check the display on demand rather than keep it visible. |
| Show always | Keeps AOD visible while the phone is locked. | You want to see the display without first tapping the screen. |
| Show as scheduled | Shows AOD during times you select. | You want it visible during particular parts of the day. |
On devices running One UI 7.0 or later, Samsung describes additional AOD controls, including Show Lock screen wallpaper and When to show. The settings available on your device may differ; see Samsung’s guide to Galaxy widgets and related display settings.
If Always On Display is missing or unavailable
-
Turn off Power saving mode. Samsung says activating this mode disables AOD. Once Power saving mode is off, return to the AOD setting and check whether you can enable it.
