Sign in to the retailer account used for the purchase, open Orders, Purchases, or Purchase History, select the transaction, and use its receipt, invoice, order-summary, print, or download control. If the order is missing, search the confirmation email and check other email addresses, accounts, and whether you checked out as a guest.
The exact menu name, record type, retention period, and tax-document availability vary by retailer, country, seller, and purchase type. An order receipt or summary is not automatically a formal tax invoice.
What you can usually retrieve
Retailer accounts normally expose records one order at a time. Depending on the transaction, the available document may be a payment receipt, proof of purchase, order summary, packing or delivery information, or a formal invoice. A retailer may not create every document for every order.
- Receipt or proof of purchase: confirms that a transaction was placed or paid for. It is often sufficient for a return or warranty request, but acceptance depends on the seller.
- Order summary: lists items, prices, delivery information, and order details. It may be printable without being a tax document.
- Invoice: identifies the seller and transaction in an invoice format. The fields and legal status vary by country and seller.
- Tax invoice: a country-specific document that must meet applicable tax rules. Do not assume that a normal receipt or order page qualifies.
Before downloading anything, decide what the recipient actually needs. A retailer support agent, warranty provider, employer, accountant, or tax authority may ask for different details such as the seller’s legal name, tax number, billing address, payment method, or VAT/GST information.

Start with the account that placed the order
Use the email address, phone number, or sign-in method used at checkout. Signing in to a different account is one of the most common reasons a legitimate purchase appears to be missing. If you use several addresses, check each one rather than assuming the retailer combined their histories.
- Open the retailer’s website or app and sign in with the likely account.
- Open the menu labeled Orders, Purchases, Purchase History, or a similar term.
- Use the retailer’s search box, date filters, status filters, or order list to narrow the results.
- Select the individual order. Documentation controls are usually shown only on the order-detail page.
Retailer interfaces change, so treat those labels as examples rather than universal instructions. If the account has separate personal, business, marketplace, or regional profiles, check the profile that was active when the purchase was made.
How to download or print an individual order
Once the order is open, look for Receipt, Invoice, Order summary, View details, Print, or Download. Some retailers open a document in a new browser tab; others display a printable order page. Save the resulting PDF with the order number and purchase date in the filename.

- Open the order’s detail view, not just the condensed order-list row.
- Choose the available receipt, invoice, or summary option.
- Review the document before saving it. Confirm the order number, seller, date, item description, amount, currency, and billing or delivery details.
- Select the page’s download control if one is provided. If the retailer provides a print view but no download button, use your browser’s print command and select Save as PDF.
- Store the file in a backed-up folder and keep the original email confirmation when it contains information absent from the PDF.
A printout or PDF preserves the page as it is displayed; it does not change a receipt into a tax invoice. If the document lacks the legal or tax fields your organization requires, use the retailer’s invoice process or contact the seller.

Walmart online orders
For an online pickup, delivery, or shipping order, open Account, choose Purchase History, select the transaction, and use the details or print option. Keep this separate from Walmart’s receipt-lookup process for certain in-store card purchases. That in-store lookup asks for information such as store location, purchase date, card type and last four digits, and receipt total; those fields do not describe a general online-order recovery route.

Etsy purchases
Open Purchases and reviews while signed in to the account used at checkout. Etsy also directs buyers to the order-confirmation email, which can open the order even when it is not visible in the account page. Search your inbox, spam folder, and trash for the confirmation. Check other email accounts and any other Etsy account you may have used.
Etsy’s invoice instructions differ by buyer location and by physical versus digital purchase. UK and European Union buyers may see print-related options described in Etsy’s regional guidance, while other locations may have a different invoice view. If you need a formal tax invoice and Etsy’s page directs you to the seller, contact the seller rather than treating the ordinary purchase record as equivalent.

From the UK Amazon account, open the order and choose the invoice or order-summary option described on the order page. The available document can depend on whether Amazon or a Marketplace seller fulfilled the transaction. For a Marketplace order, follow the seller-contact route in the order interface if the invoice is not available for direct download.
Because the cited instructions are for Amazon UK, check the help and order page for the specific country marketplace before applying the same labels or assumptions elsewhere.
eBay purchase history
The eBay help result reviewed for this task states that purchase history contains orders from the past seven years. Treat that as the retention period stated for that eBay guidance, not as evidence that every store keeps seven years of records. Open the relevant purchase and use the documentation or print controls provided for that transaction.

If the order is missing from the account
A blank or incomplete order list does not prove that the purchase record was deleted. Work through the recovery checks in this order:
- Search confirmation email. Search for the retailer name, order number, “order confirmation,” “receipt,” or the item name. Include spam and trash folders.
- Check every email address. A work, personal, family, or old address may have received the confirmation.
- Try other sign-in methods. You may have used a different email, phone-number login, social sign-in, or regional account.
- Check for guest checkout. A guest order may not be attached to the account’s normal purchase-history page. Use the confirmation message or the retailer’s guest-order lookup.
- Confirm the purchase channel. A marketplace purchase, a separate regional site, an in-store transaction, and an app order can appear in different areas.
- Look for archived or older-history controls. Some sites hide older transactions behind a year selector, archive view, or pagination.
When you find the confirmation email, open its order link while signed in to the matching account. The message may contain the order number and seller information needed by support even if the account page remains empty.
When you need a formal tax invoice
First identify the jurisdiction and the entity that sold the item. Invoice availability can depend on the buyer’s location, the purchase type, and whether the retailer or an independent marketplace seller made the sale.
- Check the retailer’s location-specific invoice instructions from the order page or help area.
- Compare the downloaded document with your accounting or tax requirements before submitting it.
- Look for the seller’s legal name, address, tax registration number where applicable, invoice date, invoice number, item description, tax rate, tax amount, currency, and total.
- If the retailer’s instructions say to contact the seller, send the order number and request the required tax invoice explicitly.
- Keep the original order confirmation and payment record with the invoice; they can establish context if a document is later questioned.
Do not label an ordinary order summary as a tax invoice merely because it shows a total. Etsy’s guidance, for example, distinguishes invoice availability by location and purchase type and may direct the buyer to the seller for a tax invoice.
What to do when the download button is absent
Some orders expose only a printable page, while others show a receipt but no invoice. Use the available print view, then save it as a PDF if that meets the recipient’s requirements. If the page is incomplete, try a desktop browser, disable pop-up blocking for the retailer, and check whether a document opened in a new tab.

If no usable document exists, contact the retailer or marketplace support. Provide only details needed to identify the transaction:
- order number, if known;
- approximate purchase date and total;
- email address or account identifier used at checkout;
- item or seller name;
- delivery address or billing details that help distinguish orders; and
- the exact document you need, such as a receipt, invoice, or tax invoice.
Never send a full card number or account password. If support asks for payment verification, use the retailer’s official support channel and provide only the permitted last-four-digit information.
Can you download your entire order history at once?
Do not assume that a retailer offers a complete export. The official instructions covered here support accessing individual orders, receipts, invoices, or summaries; they do not establish a common bulk-download function across retailers.
If you need records for many transactions, use the retailer’s date filters or year selectors to work systematically, saving each document with a consistent filename such as 2024-11-08-order-123456.pdf. A simple index spreadsheet can record the date, order number, seller, amount, currency, document type, and storage location. This is a practical organization method, not a promise that the retailer can export those fields automatically.

Troubleshooting common failures
The order appears, but there is no invoice
Download the receipt or order summary first, then check whether the seller—not the platform—must issue the invoice. Marketplace transactions often use a seller-specific invoice process. If a tax invoice is required, request it directly through the retailer’s supported seller-contact route.

The email link says the order cannot be found
Sign out and sign back in to the account associated with the message, then open the link again. If it still fails, verify that the message is genuine, check whether it belongs to a guest checkout, and contact support with the order number. Do not forward sensitive account links publicly.
The order list stops before the purchase date
Look for a year filter, archived-order view, or older-history page. Retention is retailer-specific: eBay’s cited guidance mentions the past seven years, but that figure cannot be generalized to another store. If the period is outside the retailer’s stated history, use old confirmation emails and payment records to help support locate it.
The saved PDF is blank or missing pages
Wait for the order page to finish loading, open the print view in a new tab, and print from a desktop browser if the app’s print function fails. Confirm the PDF visually before closing the order page. If the document is generated dynamically, try the retailer’s explicit download control instead of printing the surrounding web page.

Check whether the order contains multiple shipments, partial refunds, discounts, taxes, delivery charges, or a currency conversion. Compare the document with the confirmation email and payment record. Ask support to explain discrepancies rather than editing the PDF yourself.
Keep the records usable and secure
Save the original PDF without altering its contents. Use a readable filename that includes the purchase date and order number, and keep a second copy in a trusted backup. Restrict sharing because invoices can contain names, addresses, phone numbers, and partial payment details.
For returns or warranties, retain the record until the return window or warranty claim is closed. For reimbursement or bookkeeping, follow your employer’s or accountant’s retention policy. For tax documentation, retain the invoice and related payment evidence for the period required in your jurisdiction.
If you print a document, check that the order number and totals are legible and that all pages are present. A digital copy is usually easier to search and resend, while a printed copy can be useful when a service desk requires paper documentation.

- Use the account and email address that placed the order.
- Open Orders, Purchases, or Purchase History.
- Select the individual order and inspect its available document controls.
- Download the invoice, receipt, or summary, or print the page to PDF.

- For tax purposes, verify that the document meets the relevant country’s requirements.
- Contact the retailer or marketplace seller with identifying details if the record still cannot be obtained.
- Save the file securely and do not assume another retailer offers the same retention period or export options.
