Forza Horizon 6 records discoveries in its Collection Journal, but the official descriptions do not confirm a way to display Journal entries or photos permanently in your estate. You can make progress toward the game’s seven Discover Japan Stamps by exploring and taking part in activities such as photographing murals and finding landmarks. Stamps also unlock Barn Find Rumors and homes to buy. The estate is a separate build-and-decorate feature; no confirmed link between it and the Journal establishes that souvenirs can be placed there.
What “permanent souvenirs” means in Forza Horizon 6
“Permanent souvenirs” is not an established name for a Forza Horizon 6 feature. The official term to look for is the Collection Journal, which represents discoveries made while traveling through Japan. Xbox Wire describes it as a digital collection of souvenirs and says photographs of murals, monuments, and other notable places can be saved to it.
That makes the Journal the confirmed in-game record for these discoveries and photos. It does not establish a separate souvenir inventory, display case, or decoration system. It is also useful to separate three ideas that can otherwise blur together: discovering a place, making progress toward a Stamp, and recording a photograph. Playground Games says discoveries contribute to Stamp progress and describes the Collection Journal as representing discoveries. Xbox Wire adds that certain photos can be saved in the Journal. Those descriptions support an in-game record, but they do not say that every activity creates a Journal entry, that every Journal entry is a photo, or that a saved photo becomes a decoration.
How to find discoveries and earn Discover Japan Stamps
Playground Games says that finding things in Japan contributes to progress toward the next Stamp. Discover Japan has seven Stamps. The examples below are activity types named by the developer; they are not a guaranteed checklist of requirements for any particular Stamp.
- Photograph murals. The developer lists photographing murals as an activity that contributes to Stamp progress. Xbox Wire also says photos of murals and notable places can be saved in the Journal. That makes murals a good example of an activity connected to both exploration progress and the Journal’s photo record, though the official descriptions do not give a required number of photos or a specific camera procedure.
- Find landmarks. Landmark discoveries are another stated way to make progress. Monuments and other notable places are also among the subjects the official Xbox Wire description says can be photographed for the Journal. The distinction is that finding a landmark is named as a progress activity, while taking a photo is the described way to save an image record of a notable place.
- Explore the car collection. Collecting and customizing cars are included among the activities that contribute to progress. These are separate examples, so do not assume that a car must be customized before collecting it counts, or that the same progress value applies to both. The announcement does not specify how many cars are involved or whether particular models matter.
- Take part in events. Completing Street Races and Touge Races contributes to Stamp progress. They are two kinds of race activity named by the developer; the announcement does not provide a race-by-race checklist or say how much progress an individual event grants.
- Try other named activities. The developer also lists smashing mascots, joining Mei’s day tours, and earning income through the Raku-Raku food delivery job. These examples show that Stamp progress is not limited to photographing or racing. The source does not give a specific number of mascots, tours, or delivery earnings needed for any one Stamp.
The practical approach is to explore Japan and participate in the activities you encounter, then use the Collection Journal as the official record of discoveries. Playground Games does not provide an exact sequence, per-activity Stamp values, or a menu path for checking or saving each type of entry in the announcement. Don’t assume that a particular photo or activity completes a specific Stamp unless the game itself confirms the progress.
There is no single supported route through these examples. The developer’s wording is broad: “Everything you find in Japan earns you progress towards your next Stamp.” That statement supports trying a mix of discoveries and activities rather than treating the list as a fixed order. It does not establish that every listed activity is available at the same moment, that players must complete all of them, or that one category is faster than another.
For someone focused on souvenirs, photographing murals and notable places is the most directly relevant activity because the official Xbox Wire description specifically connects those photos to the Journal. For someone focused on unlocking the broader progression, the other named activities also matter: races, car collection and customization, mascots, Mei’s day tours, landmarks, and the food delivery job. The announcement does not rank them, so there is no supported best activity to prioritize for speed.

What Stamps unlock
Collecting Stamps for the Collection Journal advances the Discover Japan progression path. Playground Games says the Stamps unlock Barn Find Rumors and homes to buy around Japan. These are progression rewards, not evidence that a Journal record can be installed as an estate decoration.
The announcement identifies seven Stamps in total, but does not give a complete reward-by-Stamp schedule. It therefore supports the overall connection between Stamp collection and those unlocks, not a claim about which exact Stamp grants a particular rumor or home. Nor does it establish that every Stamp unlocks one of each reward, or that a player can choose which reward arrives next.

Second, collecting Stamps unlocks Barn Find Rumors and purchasable homes, while the first Stamp leads to Mei’s estate introduction. The official description does not provide the exact timing of every reward or a complete reward table, so avoid treating any one Stamp as a guaranteed key to a specific home or rumor.
Can you display Journal souvenirs in your estate?
The estate is a confirmed customization space, but a permanent souvenir display is not. Playground Games says that after receiving the first Stamp, Mei introduces the player to her grandparents’ long-abandoned estate, where players can build and decorate directly in the open world. Neither that description nor the Xbox Wire description of the Journal confirms that Journal entries, saved photos, or other discoveries can be placed there.

As a result, there is no verified procedure to give for hanging a Journal photo, placing a landmark record, or building a souvenir display. The published descriptions do not provide a precise in-game menu path for doing so, so use the game’s displayed instructions rather than relying on a guessed button sequence.
- Progress through Discover Japan. Finding things contributes toward the next Stamp. The Journal is associated with the Stamp progression, which totals seven Stamps. The official announcement does not specify a per-activity value or an exact amount of progress to expect from a discovery.
- Visit the estate after the first Stamp. Mei introduces it after that milestone; the confirmed use is building and decorating in the open world. The announcement does not say that this milestone unlocks Journal photo placement or a permanent-souvenir display.
- Do not treat Journal records as estate items without confirmation. The official descriptions do not establish a transfer, placement, or permanent display option for Journal content.
