If you have a promotion code instead, enter it under Gift Cards and Promotional Codes, select Apply, and check that the order total changes before placing the order.
Coupons are tied to offer terms, so clipping alone does not guarantee a discount. The selected variation, seller, quantity, account, marketplace, payment method, and expiration time can all affect eligibility.

Amazon surfaces coupons in several shopping locations. The same offer may not appear for every account, marketplace, seller, or product variation, so check the listing you actually intend to buy.

The Amazon Coupons page presents available offers as tiles. Open a tile to review its conditions, then select Clip Coupon before shopping for the qualifying item. Search results

On the product page, look below or near the price for a coupon checkbox or Clip Coupon control. Read the offer terms before selecting it. A badge on one variation does not necessarily cover every size, color, pack count, seller, or fulfillment option on the page.
Amazon Shopping app
Amazon says customers can find coupons and deals in the Amazon Shopping app. App labels and placement can change, but the activation principle is the same: select the available coupon, choose the qualifying item, and verify the resulting order total.

The cart is a useful confirmation point, not a guarantee that an offer remains valid. Recheck the line-item discount and the final order summary because a coupon can expire while the item is waiting in the cart or become ineligible after a seller, quantity, account, or shipping choice changes.

Check the coupon terms before you clip it
Open the offer’s terms and confirm each condition that applies to your order. Amazon regional customer guidance gives examples such as “valid once per customer” and prepaid-order requirements.
- Expiration: Note the date and time limit. An offer may stop working even when the product is already in your cart.
- Eligible product or ASIN: Confirm that the exact listing and variation are covered, rather than assuming a nearby product in the same search result qualifies.
- Quantity: Check whether the discount applies to one unit, a limited number of units, or a specific quantity.
- Minimum purchase: Some offers require a stated spending threshold or a particular number of items.
- Customer restriction: The promotion may be limited to one use per customer or to selected accounts.
- Payment requirement: Read for prepaid-order or other payment conditions before you commit the order.
- Marketplace and seller: Verify that the offer applies in the Amazon marketplace you are using and to the seller shown on the listing.
Availability is dynamic. Amazon can show different coupons by account, marketplace, product variation, seller, and campaign period, so a coupon seen in a search result is not proof that another version of the item qualifies.
How to clip a coupon and use it at checkout
- Find an eligible offer. Search for the product, open the Amazon Coupons page, or use a coupon-bearing listing. Look for the coupon badge, savings message, checkbox, or Clip Coupon control.
- Open and read the terms. Check the expiration, covered product or variation, quantity limit, minimum purchase, customer restriction, payment condition, and any one-use rule.
- Activate the offer. Select Clip Coupon or tick the coupon checkbox. This records the offer on your account; it is not the same as placing an order.
- Add the qualifying item. Choose the exact variation, seller, and quantity covered by the terms, then add that item to the cart. If you switch to another listing or variation, return to its offer details and confirm eligibility again.
- Review the checkout summary. Proceed to checkout and inspect the order summary for a coupon or promotion discount. Confirm that the final total is lower before placing the order.
The practical rule is simple: clipping activates the offer, while the checkout summary proves that the item and order meet its conditions. If the discount is absent there, do not assume it will be added after purchase.

On a computer, start while signed in to the account that will place the order. Open the Coupons page or search for the product, select the precise listing, and record the seller and variation shown beside the price. Open the terms before clipping. After clipping, return to that same listing rather than choosing a visually similar result, select the covered quantity, and add it to the cart. In the cart, compare the item description with the offer terms. Continue to checkout only when the product, seller, and quantity still match.
A careful app workflow
In the Amazon Shopping app, use the coupon or deals area, search results, or the product page to locate the offer. Tap the available coupon control, read its conditions, and choose the matching variation. Because app placement and labels can change, rely on the offer text and the checkout summary rather than on a particular button location. If you move from the app to another marketplace or account, check the offer again before ordering.
How to read the checkout confirmation
Do not stop after seeing a coupon badge or a confirmation that an offer was clipped. At checkout, inspect the line item and order summary for the coupon or promotion discount. Confirm that the displayed final total is lower than it was without the offer. For a promotion code, also confirm that the code itself is shown as applied. If the summary does not show the expected reduction, pause the order and troubleshoot the eligibility conditions.
A saved cart is not a reservation of a coupon. Amazon’s customer guidance specifically warns that an offer can expire while an item remains in the cart. Rechecking the terms immediately before ordering protects against relying on an old cart state.

- Add the products covered by the code to your cart and proceed to checkout.
- In the checkout area labeled Gift Cards and Promotional Codes, enter the code exactly as supplied. Preserve every letter, number, and hyphen; do not add spaces unless the instructions include them.
- Select Apply.
- Read the final order summary and confirm that the promotion appears as a discount before submitting the order.
Amazon customer guidance specifically advises checking the promotion code on the final checkout page. A code that is entered but not submitted with Apply, or a code that does not match the cart’s terms, will not reduce the total.
Code-entry pitfalls
- Do not put a clipped coupon into the promotional-code field; clipping and code entry are separate mechanisms.
- Do not assume a code worked merely because the text was accepted. The final order summary is the confirmation.
- Check for typing differences such as a missing character or hyphen, then select Apply again.
- If the code still fails, compare the cart’s products, quantity, account, marketplace, payment setup, and date with the code’s instructions.

The two mechanisms are not interchangeable. A clipped coupon does not belong in the promotion-code field, and a promotion code does not create a coupon checkbox on the product page.
Why an Amazon coupon does not appear at checkout
Work through these checks in order. Most failures are eligibility mismatches rather than checkout glitches.

The offer expired in the cart
Amazon’s customer guidance warns that an expired coupon may no longer work while an item remains in the cart. Return to the listing or Coupons page, inspect the current terms, and check whether a new offer is available before ordering.
The selected variation is not covered
Size, color, pack count, model, subscription option, or another variation may have a different ASIN and price. Reopen the coupon details from the selected variation and switch to the qualifying version if the terms require it.
The seller or marketplace changed
A coupon can be attached to one seller or marketplace listing. Compare the seller name, delivery option, and marketplace with the offer details. If you changed region or selected a different seller, the original coupon may no longer apply.
The quantity or minimum purchase is wrong
Check the number of units and any spending threshold. A one-unit offer may not discount every unit in a multi-item order, while a minimum-purchase promotion will remain inactive until its threshold is met.

The account is not eligible
Some campaigns are limited to selected customers or one use per customer. Sign in to the account that clipped the coupon, and make sure the offer’s customer restriction is satisfied. Do not assume that seeing an offer while signed out means it will be available after sign-in.

The promotion code was entered incorrectly
Return to Gift Cards and Promotional Codes, re-enter the code exactly, and select Apply. Then inspect the final order summary. If the code still fails, compare its product, date, quantity, account, and marketplace conditions with the current cart.
The payment setup does not meet the condition
Some offers require a particular payment arrangement, including prepaid-order conditions described in Amazon’s regional guidance. Review the terms and choose an allowed payment method before treating the missing discount as a technical error.
The item was changed after clipping
Returning to search results and selecting a similar-looking item can silently change the ASIN, seller, or variation. Reopen the offer on the item currently in the cart. If its terms do not match, remove it and add the covered listing instead.
The marketplace or account changed during shopping
Switching regions, delivery countries, or signed-in accounts can change which offers are displayed. Confirm the marketplace and account at every stage, especially when moving between a browser and the Shopping app.
Account and marketplace differences
Coupon behavior is not identical across consumer and business accounts or across national marketplaces. Amazon’s 20 February 2025 Amazon Business release documents shared-payment coupon and promotion-code support for business customers in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Japan, India, and Mexico. That release describes a business-account capability; it does not mean every consumer account or every marketplace has the same controls.
If a colleague can see a coupon that you cannot, compare the signed-in account type, marketplace, delivery country, seller, and payment setup. Those differences can explain why the same product page presents different offers or why a code works for one order but not another.

- Sign in to the account that will place the order.
