To find a Fortnite skin, first verify that you are signed in to the Epic Games account that bought it. Then search Locker > Outfit with every filter cleared, check Archived items, and review your recent cosmetic purchases. Fortnite’s cosmetic purchase screen covers only the last 30 days; older account purchases are listed under Epic Games account > Transactions > Purchase. Console purchases can take up to two hours to appear.

Use this order to locate the skin

A missing skin is usually an account-selection, Locker-organization, purchase-history, or platform-timing problem. Work through these checks in order so you do not mistake a hidden Outfit for a deleted purchase.

  1. Confirm the Epic Games account. Look for the Epic receipt in your email and compare the recipient address with the account currently signed in.
  2. Search the Locker as an Outfit. Open Locker, select Outfit, clear every Sort and Filter option, and apply the changes.
  3. Inspect Archived items. An archived Outfit is hidden from the ordinary Locker view.
  4. Check Fortnite’s recent cosmetic records. The in-game and Item Shop purchase screen shows cosmetics bought during the last 30 days.
  5. Check older account purchases. In your Epic account, open Transactions, choose Purchase, and use Show More to load older entries.
  6. Allow time for a console transaction. Purchases made through PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, or Samsung can take up to two hours to appear.
  7. Follow the removal or support route if Fortnite reports a reversal. A removal notice is a different problem from a filtered or archived Outfit.

These checks cover the cases documented by Epic Games Support. If the skin remains absent after the relevant checks, use the support route for the account, platform, or payment issue involved.

1. Confirm you bought it on this Epic account

Fortnite cosmetics belong to the Epic Games account used to buy, earn, or claim them. Signing in with another Epic account can make a legitimate purchase look missing, even when the transaction completed normally.

Compare the receipt email with the signed-in account

  1. Search your email for the Epic Games purchase receipt, including archived and spam folders.
  2. Note the email address that received the receipt.
  3. In Fortnite or on the Epic account website, check which Epic account is currently signed in.
  4. If the addresses do not match, sign out and use the account associated with the receipt.

Epic’s missing-item guidance specifically says that players with multiple Epic accounts should confirm they are signed in to the account where the item was purchased. The receipt is the quickest way to distinguish an account mix-up from a Locker problem.

Do not assume a linked console profile is a separate Fortnite inventory

Playing on a different console does not create a second inventory that can be merged later. The relevant question is which Epic account was connected when the purchase was made. Check that account before repeating a purchase or opening a support request.

If you have used several sign-in methods, compare each one carefully rather than relying on the display name. A console profile, an Epic login, and an email address can be associated in ways that are easy to confuse. The transaction receipt identifies the account that matters for the cosmetic.

2. Search Locker with filters cleared

A skin is listed as an Outfit in Fortnite’s Locker. Filters can hide it without changing ownership, so search the unfiltered Outfit list before concluding that the cosmetic disappeared.

Clear every Locker filter

  1. Open Locker from Fortnite’s main menu.
  2. Select the Outfit category.
  3. Open Sort and Filter.
  4. Remove every active filter, including rarity, season, set, favorites, and any custom selection you have applied.
  5. Apply the cleared settings and scan the full Outfit list.

Sorting changes the order; filtering changes which items are shown. If you normally use a narrow filter, an older or differently tagged skin may be excluded even though it remains on the account. A search based only on the skin’s set, season, rarity, or favorite status can therefore produce a false “missing” result.

Check Archived items separately

Archived items are intentionally hidden from the normal Locker view. Open the Archived section and look for the Outfit there. An archived skin has not necessarily been refunded or removed; it is simply outside the standard list until you unarchive it.

Check both locations even if you remember never archiving the skin. The important diagnostic question is whether the Outfit exists on the account, not whether you remember changing its organization. If it appears in Archived, the purchase is present and the issue is visibility.

If the Outfit is neither in the cleared Locker list nor in Archived items, continue with the account and transaction checks below. Epic recommends contacting Player Support when the item is still missing after the account, Locker, and archive checks.

3. Review Fortnite’s recent cosmetic purchase screen

Fortnite has a purchase screen for recent cosmetic transactions and eligible returns. It is useful for a skin bought recently, but it is not a complete lifetime catalog.

Find the screen in Fortnite

  1. Open your Profile icon.
  2. Choose Settings.
  3. Open Account and Privacy.
  4. Select Return or Cancel Purchase.

Review the cosmetics shown there and compare the listed item with the receipt or the date you remember buying it. This view can help confirm that the transaction is attached to the account you are using, but an item’s absence here does not by itself prove that the purchase failed.

Find the same recent-purchase view online

  1. Sign in to the Fortnite Item Shop using the Epic account that made the purchase.
  2. Open the profile menu.
  3. Choose Return or Cancel Purchase.

The online and in-game screens are the recent cosmetic-purchase view described by Epic. They are intended for recent refundable purchases, not for a complete historical statement.

Understand the 30-day limit

Epic Games Support’s current guidance, checked October 13, 2026, says that Fortnite’s cosmetic purchase screen shows cosmetics bought in the last 30 days. A skin bought earlier can be absent from this screen while still appearing in your Locker or in the general Epic transaction list. Do not treat an empty recent-purchase screen as proof that an older purchase never happened.

The 30-day figure is a coverage limit for this Fortnite cosmetic view, not a promise that every purchase made within 30 days will be refundable. Return eligibility is governed by Epic’s applicable return rules. Use the screen to locate and evaluate a recent cosmetic, then follow the stated return options rather than assuming that the screen is a complete ownership record.

4. Look up older purchases in your Epic account

For transactions outside the 30-day Fortnite cosmetic window, use the general Epic account transaction history.

  1. Sign in to your Epic Games account.
  2. Open Transactions.
  3. Choose Purchase.
  4. Review entries from newest to oldest.
  5. Select Show More to load older purchases.

This page is broader than Fortnite’s recent cosmetic screen. Epic distinguishes the general account purchase history from the Fortnite instructions for checking recent cosmetic returns. Use the transaction entry to confirm the account, date, and purchase before investigating a display or platform issue.

What the two history views can and cannot tell you

View Best use Coverage stated by Epic
Fortnite: Profile > Settings > Account and Privacy > Return or Cancel Purchase Find a recent cosmetic and check whether it is in the return/cancel screen Cosmetics bought in the last 30 days
Fortnite Item Shop profile menu > Return or Cancel Purchase Check the same recent cosmetic-purchase information in a browser Cosmetics bought in the last 30 days
Epic account > Transactions > Purchase Find older account purchase entries Entries load newest to oldest; Show More loads additional older purchases

The first two views are not substitutes for the third when the purchase is older than 30 days. Conversely, finding a transaction entry does not explain why an Outfit is hidden; you still need to check the correct Locker category, filters, and Archived section.

  • Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. 5. If you bought the skin on a console, wait for synchronization

Epic says a purchase made on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, or Samsung may take up to two hours to appear. This is a synchronization delay, not evidence that the skin was rejected.

Use this console-purchase sequence

  1. Confirm that Fortnite is signed in to the Epic account associated with the purchase receipt.
  2. Check the console’s date and time settings; Epic’s guidance asks players to verify that the platform date and time are correct.
  3. Allow the full two-hour window for the purchase to appear.
  4. Close and reopen Fortnite after the waiting period.
  5. Use Epic’s documented reinstall check if the item is still absent.
  6. If the purchase still does not appear, contact the support team for the platform where the transaction was made.

Keep the platform route separate from an Epic-account purchase problem. A console transaction that has not synchronized should be handled through the console platform after the account, time, waiting, and reinstall checks, rather than by buying the skin again.

Do not use the two-hour estimate to explain a purchase that is several days old. For an older missing transaction, return to account identity, the general Transactions page, and the platform’s support channel. The waiting period is a practical first response to a recent console purchase, not a general fix for every missing item.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

6. Distinguish a hidden skin from a removed item

If Fortnite displays a message saying an item was removed, use a different diagnosis. Clearing filters or waiting for synchronization will not restore an item that Epic has removed because of a payment or gifting reversal.

Removal causes listed by Epic

Epic identifies these causes for the removal scenario:

  • A refund or payment reversal.
  • A reversal made by the person who sent a gift.
  • The Xbox exploit cited in Epic’s removal guidance.

These causes differ from an Outfit being archived or filtered out. A removal notice is evidence that the account state changed; a missing Locker result without a notice still calls for the account, filter, archive, and history checks.

What support can and cannot do

Epic states that Player Support cannot restore items removed for the listed reversal or exploit reasons. If you believe a payment reversal or removal was an error, Epic recommends contacting the payment provider. For purchases made through a third party, take the transaction issue to the relevant platform’s support team.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do not open repeated Locker searches expecting a removed item to reappear. First identify whether the account shows a removal message, then use the payment-provider or platform route appropriate to the transaction. Keep the removal case separate from a normal visibility problem when explaining it to support.

7. Understand account-transfer limits

Epic does not manually move Fortnite items or cosmetics from one Epic account to another. The skin remains on the account where it was bought, earned, or claimed.

If you purchased on the wrong account

Support cannot merge the inventories or transfer the Outfit to your preferred account. A recent purchase may possibly be returned and bought again on the correct account, but only when the item is still in the Item Shop and the account has an eligible return option. The recent-purchase screen’s 30-day coverage is relevant here, but eligibility is determined by Epic’s return rules for that transaction.

Before attempting a return, verify the intended Epic account and check that the skin is still available. Returning an item is not the same as transferring it; the original account must release the purchase through an eligible return, and the replacement purchase must be made separately on the correct account.

Do not assume that contacting support can override this boundary. Epic’s stated position is that a Fortnite item or cosmetic cannot be manually transferred between Epic accounts. The safest order is to verify ownership first, determine whether a return is actually offered, and only then consider a separate repurchase.

When to contact support

Contact Epic Player Support after you have confirmed the Epic account, cleared Locker filters, checked Archived items, and reviewed the appropriate purchase history. Include the receipt information and explain which checks you completed so the issue can be routed as a missing item rather than a general purchase question.

Use the platform’s support channel when the transaction was made through PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, or Samsung and remains absent after Epic’s two-hour, date/time, and reinstall checks. Use the payment provider when you dispute a refund or payment reversal. Epic’s documented guidance does not promise restoration for removals caused by those reversals.

When describing the problem, state whether the skin is missing without a notice, appears in an account transaction but not Locker, or was explicitly removed. Those are different cases and point to different support routes. Include the purchase date and the account associated with the receipt where possible.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If you no longer have the account or receipt email

The official troubleshooting guidance establishes how to compare the receipt with the signed-in account, but it does not provide a separate recovery workflow for someone who has lost access to both the Epic account and the receipt email. In that situation, start with Epic’s official account-support entry point rather than creating another account or purchasing the skin again. Account creation will not transfer the original cosmetic.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Checking only the recent-purchase screen: it covers 30 days, so older purchases need the general Transactions page.
  • Searching only Favorites or a set: an active filter can hide a valid Outfit.
  • Ignoring Archived: archived items do not appear in the ordinary Locker list.
  • Buying the skin again immediately: a console purchase may still be within the two-hour synchronization window.
  • Expecting an account merge: Epic does not manually transfer cosmetics between Epic accounts.
  • Treating a removal message as a display bug: payment, gift, or the listed exploit cases require the payment-provider or platform route.

Final checklist

  • Receipt email and signed-in Epic account match.
  • Locker is set to Outfit with all filters cleared.
  • Archived items have been inspected.
  • Recent cosmetic screen has been checked, with its 30-day limit understood.
  • Older purchases have been searched under Epic account > Transactions > Purchase > Show More.
  • Console purchases have been given up to two hours, with date/time and the listed reinstall check completed.
  • Removal notices have been treated as reversal or exploit cases, not as hidden Locker items.
  • No manual account transfer has been assumed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can’t I see a Fortnite skin I bought?

First confirm the Epic account that received the purchase receipt. Then clear all Locker filters, check Outfit and Archived items, and review the correct purchase history. If it was bought on a listed console, allow up to two hours for synchronization.

Does Fortnite show my entire cosmetic purchase history?

No. Fortnite’s Return or Cancel Purchase view covers cosmetics bought in the last 30 days. For older account purchases, use Epic account > Transactions > Purchase and select Show More.

How long can a console Fortnite purchase take to appear?

Epic says purchases made through PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, or Samsung can take up to two hours. Verify the platform date and time, wait, restart Fortnite, and complete the documented reinstall check.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Can Epic move a skin from one account to another?

No. Epic says cosmetics cannot be manually transferred between Epic accounts. If the purchase is recent, an eligible return followed by a separate repurchase may be possible when the item remains in the Item Shop.

What if Fortnite says my skin was removed?

That is different from an archived or filtered item. Epic lists refunds or payment reversals, gift-sender reversals, and the cited Xbox exploit as causes. Player Support says it cannot restore items removed for those reasons; contact the payment provider or relevant platform.

What should I do if I lost both my Epic account and receipt email?

Use Epic’s official account-support entry point. The documented missing-item steps do not provide a separate recovery process for losing access to both the account and receipt email.

The Bottom Line

Find the matching Epic account first, then clear Locker filters and check Archived items. Use Fortnite’s recent cosmetic view only for its 30-day window; use Epic Transactions for older purchases. Wait up to two hours for supported console purchases, and route removal notices or payment disputes to the payment provider or platform. Cosmetics cannot be manually transferred between Epic accounts.
