There is no reliable universal “fair” price for a used PS5 Pro: value depends on your market, condition, included accessories, warranty and return rights. Start by comparing the listing with Sony’s current local recommended price—not the console’s 2024 launch price—then verify the console and the seller before paying.
Start with Sony’s current price in your market
Sony’s revised recommended retail prices for the PS5 Pro took effect on April 2, 2026. They are a useful new-console reference, not a promise that a retailer has stock at that price or that no promotion is available.

Use the price for the market where you will buy; for other territories, Sony directs customers to local retailers or direct.playstation.com where available. Compare the delivered total in the same currency, including shipping and taxes where applicable.

The old launch prices—$699.99 in the US, £699.99 in the UK, €799.99 in Europe and ¥119,980 in Japan—are historical, not today’s benchmark. Sony announced them in 2024; the revised 2026 prices supersede them for a current comparison. See Sony’s PS5 Pro launch announcement.

Compare equivalent offers, not just sticker prices
A used listing that looks cheaper than a new console may provide less protection or omit items you will need. Compare new, third-party used and Sony-certified refurbished offers separately, and record the seller, warranty, return window, condition, shipping, taxes and included accessories. Sony says third-party used PlayStation products are not covered by warranty, while certified refurbished PlayStation products do include warranty, according to its PlayStation buying guide.
- Check the complete package: Sony’s launch announcement says the base system includes a DualSense wireless controller. Ask whether the controller and required cables are included; a missing item changes the total cost.
- Account for disc functionality: Sony describes the PS5 Pro as disc-less. If you need to use physical discs, include the cost of a separately purchased disc drive and verify current compatibility before buying.
- Include the stand only if you need it: Sony’s product page says the vertical stand is sold separately.
Sony lists the PS5 Pro as a 2TB console on its US PS5 buying page. Capacity, disc-drive details and accessories can affect whether two listings are genuinely comparable.

Inspect a used PS5 Pro before paying
Sony’s used-buying guidance is practical: verify both the hardware and the seller’s ability to transfer it safely. For an in-person purchase, test the console yourself; for a remote listing, ask for clear video and use a payment method with meaningful buyer protection.
- Assess the seller. Review their rating and feedback, and ask questions if the listing leaves the console’s history or included items unclear.
- Request a working demonstration. Ask for a video showing the console powering on and testing its ports, buttons, internet connection and—if applicable—disc drive.
- Inspect the console. Check image quality, signs of overheating, physical damage, broken warranty seals and whether the serial number has been removed. If meeting in person, examine and test it before handing over payment.
- Confirm ownership and service access. Ask the seller to confirm the console has not been reported lost or stolen, has been deactivated by them and is no longer accessible to their account. Sony warns that a device reported lost or stolen may be permanently suspended from PlayStation services.
- Check your recourse. Confirm the return window and any warranty in writing, and understand how payment disputes are handled. Walk away if the offer or seller’s answers feel wrong; Sony cautions buyers about offers that sound too good to be true.
Sony recommends buying new consoles from authorized retailers to help ensure functionality, authenticity, a return policy and warranty coverage. Models, availability and offers can vary.

Decide what “fair” means for the listing
Official recommended prices give you a current new-console reference, but they do not establish what used PS5 Pro consoles are selling for in completed transactions. The official Sony pages cited here do not publish a geography- and condition-matched used-market average. Avoid treating a particular discount or dollar amount as universally fair.
Instead, judge the specific offer against the new price in your market and the value of its protections and contents. A lower price is not a bargain if the console fails testing, cannot access PlayStation services, has questionable ownership, or comes with no meaningful way to resolve a problem. If a listing lacks evidence about condition, accessories or return rights, treat that uncertainty as part of the cost—not as a reason to assume the console is a deal.
