There is usually no confirmed setlist for an upcoming concert. The most dependable preview is a comparison of the artist’s latest shows on the same tour, checked against the artist’s official website and social posts. Use setlist.fm for detailed past performances and the artist’s Ticketmaster page for a quick view of recent entries. Treat every pre-show list as a forecast based on earlier concerts, not a promise about your date.
What you can—and cannot—know before the show
A setlist becomes a record only after an artist performs. Before that point, the exact songs, order, encore, guests and length are not established unless the artist or venue has made a specific announcement. A previous concert on the same tour can show a strong pattern, but it does not turn a future performance into a confirmed setlist.
The distinction matters because crowd-sourced databases document what happened, not what someone expects to happen. setlist.fm’s editing guidelines state: “Assumed setlists, e.g. based on other concerts of the same tour are not allowed either.” A list copied from an earlier city should therefore be labeled as a previous show or likely preview, never as the upcoming show’s actual setlist.
For a practical answer, combine three kinds of evidence:

- Official information: the artist’s tour page, social account, venue announcement or festival schedule.
- Recent, matching performances: several dates from the current tour, ideally in a similar venue or event format.
- Historical records: sourced entries that show songs, order and timing for completed concerts.
The quickest reliable lookup workflow
- Search with the artist and tour name. Use a query such as
artist name setlist current tourorartist name tour setlist 2026. Confirm that you have the right performer: artists can share names, and setlist.fm separates artists by identity, dates and venues. - Check the official tour page and current social accounts. Look for a show-specific post, a published setlist, an announcement that an album will be played in full, a guest appearance, or a change to the tour. An official post for your city is stronger evidence than a list copied from another date.
- Open the artist’s Ticketmaster page. Ticketmaster’s May 29, 2025 guide says artist pages may show up to five setlists from recent tours, with the venue, city and performance date. The entries are described as appearing below the artist biography/About section and may be hidden in a dropdown. This is a dated feature description, so the exact layout and availability can vary by artist and region.
- Compare the newest dates on setlist.fm. Open each entry and verify the tour, date, venue and city. Start with the latest shows from the same tour rather than older concerts from a different album cycle. Record songs that recur and mark songs that appear only once.
- Check the venue or festival schedule. For a multi-act bill, find the running order and the scheduled time for the specific artist. A ticket’s general start time may describe doors or the first act, not the headliner.
- Save the result with its date and status. If you share your findings, write “previous show on this tour” or “likely songs based on the last three dates.” Include the city and performance date so nobody mistakes a historical record for a promise about the upcoming concert.

How to use setlist.fm without mistaking a guess for a record
Open the artist’s catalog, then narrow by tour
Search for the artist and inspect the catalog of completed performances. The site’s records associate a show with a date and venue, which helps distinguish an exact prior event from an upcoming listing. An artist page such as this historical catalog example illustrates why tour and date context matter: a long list can contain multiple eras and formats.
Filter mentally—or with the site’s available controls—to the current tour. Compare at least two recent dates, and preferably more when the tour has already visited several cities. Put each song in one of three groups:
- Repeated: present at most or all recent shows.
- Rotating: appears on some dates but not others.
- One-off: tied to a guest, local connection, special venue or unusual event.
This approach gives you a probable core and a visible range of alternatives without pretending that the next city is predetermined.

Check the evidence behind an entry
According to setlist.fm’s guidelines, edits should have sources. The guidance lists uninterrupted audio or video and official artist channels among valid evidence types. Prefer entries with a source link or corroboration, and be cautious with a newly posted list that is incomplete, lacks an encore or differs sharply from recordings and other attendees’ records.
Separate an upcoming date from a completed date
Do not use a search result’s proximity to your concert as proof that it belongs to that concert. Open the entry and read the date, city and venue. If your show has not happened, a page claiming to show its exact setlist may be an assumed or mislabeled entry. The responsible description is “no confirmed setlist yet,” followed by the earlier dates that provide a preview.

What Ticketmaster’s recent-setlist panel adds
Ticketmaster’s consumer guide, published May 29, 2025, says: “You’ll be able to see up to five setlists from the most recent tours, and each one includes the venue, city and date of the performance.” On an artist page, look below the biography or About section; a dropdown can conceal the entries.
This panel is useful when you want a quick, legible snapshot without opening every historical record. Use the venue, city and date to confirm that the entries are genuinely recent and belong to the tour you are attending. “Up to five” is a feature description, not a guarantee that five records will appear for every artist page. If no panel is visible, move to the artist’s official channels and setlist.fm rather than inferring that no recent shows exist.
Ticketmaster also maintains a business description of the integration at its artist-detail-page announcement. The consumer-facing page remains the practical place to look for the entries associated with a particular artist.
How to match the preview to your concert
Match the tour, not just the artist
An artist can run several productions in one year: a new-album tour, festival appearances, an acoustic leg and a co-headlining package may all have different songs and lengths. Give priority to dates that share the same tour name, production and event type as your ticket. A theater headline show is a better comparison for another theater headline show than a 45-minute festival slot.
Match the event format
Look for clues in the billing and venue:
- Headline concert: usually offers the longest set and a full encore.
- Festival appearance: may be shorter and constrained by a stage schedule.
- Co-headlining show: can alternate closing duties and set length between artists.
- Special event or benefit: may include guests, rare songs or a one-time order.
- Album-in-full performance: can override the normal tour rotation.
Use the closest format available, then treat differences as expected rather than errors in the database.

Compare more than one date
A single show can contain a request, technical replacement, local dedication or surprise guest. A small set of recent dates reveals whether a song is a stable opener, a rotating middle-set choice or an occasional encore. Note changes by city and by date; do not average them into a fictional “official” list.
Understand doors, start times and the actual performance
Knowing the songs is only part of planning. Setlist records distinguish several times that are often collapsed on tickets and search results:

setlist.fm’s guidance separates these fields because a ticket’s broad “show time” can refer to the first act. For a festival, use the published running order and artist-specific slot; never calculate the headliner’s arrival from doors time alone.
How reliable is a pre-show prediction?
Reliability increases when several independent signals agree:
- Official confirmation: the artist or venue names your date and the songs or format.
- Tour and format match: the comparison shows are from the current production and a similar event.
- Repeated pattern: the core songs recur across multiple recent dates.
- Source-backed records: entries link to recordings, official posts or other evidence.
A rumor from rehearsal, an unsourced screenshot or a list copied from another city sits below those signals. Before the first date of a new tour, a reliable setlist for that tour may not exist at all. In that case, say plainly that the upcoming setlist is unknown and, if useful, consult the previous tour only as background—not as confirmation.

Even after a tour begins, artists can change songs, guests, encores and set length by city or event. A newly posted record may be incomplete, especially if the contributor left before the encore. Check later edits, recordings and another attendee’s account before treating an unusual entry as final.

For a festival, start with the official festival or venue schedule. Find the artist’s stage, slot and running order, then check the artist’s channels for changes. Festivals often impose a fixed finish time, so a headline-tour setlist can overstate what will fit in the slot.
If the bill has several stages, verify the stage name as well as the date. A general gate time can be shared by every act, while the artist’s scheduled start is specific. Allow for a changeover between acts and remember that the actual start can move even when the published running order does not.
Troubleshooting common search problems
“I found several artists with the same name.”
Use the genre, country, tour title, venue and date to identify the correct profile. Open individual records rather than relying on a search snippet. A matching song list from the wrong artist is worse than no result.

Ticketmaster’s guide describes a feature that may not appear for every artist page. Check the official tour page and social accounts, then use setlist.fm’s historical catalog. The absence of the panel does not establish that the artist has no recent performances.

“Only one recent setlist is available.”
Label it as one previous performance and avoid projecting every song onto your date. Look for official announcements and recordings, and wait for more completed dates if the tour is just beginning.
“The list is missing songs or the encore.”
Check the entry’s source and whether the contributor recorded the full performance. Compare another report from the same date. An incomplete record should not be used to calculate total length or claim that a song was omitted.
“The schedule says the show starts at 7 p.m.”
Determine whether 7 p.m. means doors, the first opener or the featured artist. Consult the venue or festival running order and the artist’s announcement for a scheduled artist start. The distinction is especially important when you are timing travel or deciding when to enter.
“A social post promises a surprise.”
Separate what is explicitly announced from what fans infer. A named guest or album-in-full format is useful evidence; a cryptic teaser is not a complete setlist. Save the post’s date because plans can change.
Turn the evidence into a useful concert plan
Once you have compared recent shows, make a compact personal note rather than treating a long database page as a schedule. Include:
- The tour and event format used for your comparison.
- The recurring songs that appeared across the latest dates.
- Rotating or one-off songs, clearly marked as possibilities.
- Any official announcement for your city, venue or date.
- The venue’s doors time and the artist-specific scheduled start, if published.
This lets you decide when to arrive and which songs you most hope to hear while leaving room for an encore, guest or last-minute change. If you post the note for other fans, keep the performance dates attached to every historical list and call the result a preview.
When to check again
Check official channels and the venue schedule shortly before the event because running orders and special announcements can change. After the concert, return to setlist.fm or another sourced record if you want the definitive songs and timings; that post-show record is no longer a prediction and should be labeled with the actual date and venue.
