You can fax an existing PDF from a Windows PC or Mac through an online fax service, without connecting a fax machine, modem, or phone line. The usual process is to sign in, enter the recipient’s fax number, attach the PDF, send it, and keep the service’s status or delivery report.
What you need to fax a PDF from your computer
- The PDF saved on your computer and access to the internet.
- An account with an online fax service that can send to the recipient’s country and accepts your file’s size and page count.
- The recipient’s complete fax number, including the country and area codes required by the service.
The browser-based workflow described by Fax.Plus does not require a physical fax machine, fax modem, or phone line. PDF is among the file types it lists, though file support and limits can differ between services.
Send the PDF through an online fax service
- Choose a service and check its terms. Confirm that it sends to the destination country and supports your document’s file size and page count. Check current pricing, included pages, and any overage charges before creating an account; the sources cited here do not establish comparable prices or limits.
- Sign in and open the send-fax page. Create an account if you do not already have one.
- Enter the recipient’s fax number. Include the country and area codes in the format the service requires. Verify every digit before sending.
- Attach the PDF. Check that the service accepts PDF and that you selected the intended file. For example, Fax.Plus also lists DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, PNG, JPG, RTF, and TIFF on its guide; other providers may support different formats.
- Add a cover page if useful. Review any cover-page details and make sure the attachment order is correct.
- Send and check the report. Save the service’s status or delivery report. Fax.Plus says it can provide a report by email or in its dashboard. Clicking Send alone does not confirm that the recipient received the fax; if the status is unclear, contact the provider or recipient.

If the fax does not appear to arrive
- Check the provider’s status or delivery report rather than relying on the fact that you clicked Send.
- Recheck the full fax number and its country or area code formatting.
- Confirm that the service supports the destination and the PDF’s size and page count.
- If the report is missing or unclear, contact the service provider; if delivery remains uncertain, confirm with the recipient.
