The fastest repeatable path depends on the stone grade you need. For Common, Expert’s and Artisan’s Refining Stones, prioritize field bosses in Chaotic Reshanta—especially Watcher Kaira—rather than spending hours killing ordinary mobs. Artisan’s Ultimate is different: the available guides report no field-monster drop, so you must combine weekly Arena chests, the limited Season Shop allocation and one-time achievement rewards.
The figures below come from unofficial guides checked against different Global-client snapshots. Treat every rate as an estimate, confirm the current item tooltip and reward screen in your own client, and plan around your character’s access to Reshanta, Arena and the relevant shops.
Start with the recipe and stone tier
Aion 2 uses four Refining Stone grades. A recipe normally consumes stones that match the crafted gear’s grade, so farming the wrong tier does not solve the immediate crafting requirement.

Check the recipe’s exact quantity before committing to a route. The Artisan’s range is wider because professional crafting tools can change the requirement, and Dragon Lord recipes use the Ultimate grade rather than ordinary Artisan’s stones.

Farm the first three grades with Reshanta field bosses
Why Watcher Kaira is the priority
Elite Grind Lab identifies Watcher Kaira in Chaotic Lower Reshanta as a level 65 field boss and lists a three-hour respawn. Its reported per-kill averages cover all three conventional grades, making the boss useful even when your crafting plans change from Common to Expert’s or Artisan’s gear.
Because the respawn is measured in hours rather than minutes, the efficient approach is a rotation: record the kill time, set a reminder for the next window, and do another productive activity between spawns. A boss group that arrives late can miss the entire opportunity, so coordinate the timer with your legion or party instead of checking randomly.
Practical boss-farming procedure
- Confirm access. Make sure your character can enter Chaotic Lower Reshanta and participate in the level 65 encounter. If the zone or encounter is not yet available, do not substitute low-level mobs expecting equivalent results.
- Check the current timer. Ask your group for the most recent kill time and calculate the next three-hour window from that event. Treat the timer as a guide estimate until your client confirms the actual respawn.
- Arrive early. Travel to the boss area before the expected window, form a party or join the local group and prepare consumables, resurrection options and inventory space.
- Stay through loot distribution. The value of the encounter is in the stone drops as well as its other rewards. Verify the item grade immediately so you know whether the kill supports your current recipe.
- Record the result. Note the kill time and the stones received. A personal log over several kills will show how your client’s results compare with the guide averages without treating one unusually lucky or unlucky kill as a rule.
- Repeat only when the opportunity is worthwhile. If travel time, queue time or competition consumes most of the window, run Conquest or another activity for its main rewards and return for the next boss cycle.
What the reported averages do—and do not—mean
The listed boss numbers are approximate guide averages, not a guaranteed bundle. You can receive less on an individual kill, and the guides do not provide an audited official loot table. Use the figures to compare routes, not to promise a fixed amount per hour. Server population, tagging rules, group size and changes to the Global client can all alter your practical result.

Why ordinary mob grinding is a poor dedicated strategy
Elite Grind Lab reports ordinary-mob chances of 0.65% for Common, 0.16% for Expert’s and 0.04% for Artisan’s stones. Those are guide-reported probabilities from its Global launch-client 2.0.5.0 check on 9 October 2026, not official rates published by the developer.

At such low chances, a short session can easily produce nothing, which explains why a player around level 30 may feel that Expert’s stones never drop from mobs or expeditions. The absence of a drop over a few kills is not evidence that the item is impossible; it is the expected experience of a low-probability table. Continue killing ordinary mobs only when you are also completing quests, collecting materials or pursuing another objective. Do not choose them as your primary Expert’s or Artisan’s plan when a Reshanta boss rotation is available.
Use Conquest and Expeditions as supplemental income
The cited guide estimates roughly two Common stones and 0.2 Expert’s stones per Conquest run on average. It also says Ultimate stones can appear, but rarely. These values make Conquest worthwhile when you want its complete reward package—experience, equipment, currency or progression—not when stones are the only objective.
Run the content whenever it advances a second goal, then treat the stones as an additional return. If your only objective is to fill an Expert’s recipe quickly, compare the time and entry requirements with the next Reshanta boss window. A dungeon can be the better choice when the boss is unavailable, contested or too far above your current access level; it is not a replacement for the dedicated boss route once that route is open.

Artisan’s Ultimate requires a separate plan
No reported field-monster source
The reviewed guides state that no field monster drops Artisan’s Ultimate Refining Stone. That means repeating ordinary mobs or Chaotic Reshanta bosses cannot be treated as an Ultimate farm, even though those bosses are the preferred source for the first three grades. Save your time for activities that explicitly list Ultimate rewards.

Open the weekly Arena chests
The Arena Refining Stone Chest is bound and costs one Arena Token. Each character can open up to ten per week. The cited odds give a 2% chance of receiving a chest containing ten Artisan’s Ultimate stones; at that rate, ten weekly chests average two Ultimate stones over many weeks, not every week.
Use the chest as a long-term attempt rather than a guaranteed weekly allowance. Spend Tokens only after checking the current chest tooltip, because reward odds and binding rules can change with a client update. If you maintain several characters, the stated cap is per character, while the Season Shop limit described below is per account; keep those limits separate in your planner.
Reserve Oath Coins for the Season Shop allocation
The cited Season Shop listing reports ten Artisan’s Ultimate stones per account at 4,800 Oath Coins each, available until 16 December 2026. This is finite stock, not a recurring weekly purchase. Before spending Oath Coins, confirm that the listing is still present, that the date has not moved and that the stones satisfy your intended recipe’s binding requirement.
Claim one-time achievements
Achievement rewards are another finite source. The reported bound totals are 54 Common, 49 Expert’s, 45 Artisan’s and 20 Ultimate stones. Claim them when you have checked storage and the target recipe; spending a bound Ultimate reward on an item that requires a tradeable copy would waste a scarce source, although the crafting guidance below indicates that bound copies can work in recipes.

Bound stones can still be usable in recipes
Elite Grind Lab states that bound copies work in recipes in the same way as unbound copies. This is especially important for Arena chests and achievement rewards, which are reported as bound. Do not assume that “bound” means “crafting-only” or “unusable”: inspect the exact recipe and item tooltip in your current client before discarding, selling or consuming the material.
Binding can still matter after crafting. A bound input may produce an item with its own trade restrictions, so check the finished-item tooltip if you intend to sell, mail or transfer the result. The guides establish recipe usability for bound copies, but they do not establish identical trade rules for every crafted output.

If you are around level 30
A level 30 character may not yet have access to Chaotic Lower Reshanta or the level 65 Watcher Kaira encounter. In that situation, do not measure your progress against a level-gated boss route. Complete the content currently available to unlock later zones, collect stones incidentally from expeditions and ordinary activities, and preserve Tokens and Oath Coins for the rewards you can use once Ultimate farming becomes relevant.

When an Expert’s stone fails to appear during early play, check three possibilities: the activity may not list that grade, the drop chance may be very low, or the reward may be delivered through a chest or completion screen rather than direct monster loot. Read the activity and item tooltips instead of assuming every expedition or mob has the same table.

When to switch to the boss route
Switch as soon as your character can reliably reach Chaotic Lower Reshanta, survive the encounter and collect loot with a group. The route becomes more attractive when your recipe needs several stones, because one successful boss window can replace a large amount of low-probability trash-mob grinding. Keep Conquest in your schedule for its broader rewards rather than abandoning it entirely.
A weekly farming plan that avoids wasted time
- Check the recipe. Write down the grade and the exact number of stones required, including any professional-tool variation.
- Separate conventional and Ultimate goals. Put Common, Expert’s and Artisan’s on the Reshanta-boss list; put Ultimate on the Arena, Season Shop and achievement list.
- Use every eligible Arena attempt. Track each character’s ten-chest weekly limit and the number of Arena Tokens available.
- Check the account shop. Verify the Season Shop stock, Oath Coin price and expiration date before purchasing any Ultimate stones.
- Schedule the boss window. Record Watcher Kaira’s latest kill and set a reminder for the listed three-hour respawn.
- Fill downtime with productive content. Run Conquest for its main rewards, quest for progression or gather materials instead of grinding mobs solely for a 0.04% Artisan’s estimate.
- Claim achievements deliberately. Take the one-time bound rewards after confirming they fit the recipe and your storage plan.
- Review your log. After several activities, compare actual drops with the guide estimates and adjust for your server, group access and current patch.

Verify the live client before committing resources
The figures are not from an official audited drop table. Elite Grind Lab says it checked Global launch client 2.0.5.0 on 9 October 2026. Raid Relay describes a separate check of Global client version 27 on 11 October 2026 and notes differences between guides. Those version labels and dates indicate why your current tooltips may not match every published estimate.
Wikily.gg’s community item database lists broad source categories such as monsters, Expeditions, Sanctuary and festival content, but a category listing does not prove that an activity is efficient. Use it to identify possible sources, then confirm the actual reward panel in game. A Reddit post from one player around level 30 illustrates how a low-probability drop can feel nonexistent, but it is an anecdote rather than a population measurement.
Before each major farming session, verify four items in the current client: the recipe’s stone grade and quantity, the boss or activity’s listed reward, the Arena chest’s odds and cap, and the Season Shop’s remaining stock and expiration date. If any of those screens differ, follow the live tooltip and update your plan rather than an older guide.
