A factory data reset erases personal data stored on your Samsung tablet. Back up anything you want to keep before you begin; after the reset, personal information may not be recoverable. On many Galaxy tablets, the reset is under Settings > General management > Reset > Factory data reset, though menu labels can vary by model and software version.
Before you reset: back up your data
Copy photos, videos, documents, and other files you need to keep somewhere safe before proceeding. Samsung warns that personal information may not be recoverable after a factory reset. If your tablet uses an encrypted microSD card, Samsung advises decrypting it first; otherwise, the tablet may not be able to read the card after the reset. Samsung’s reset guidance
Do not assume a reset treats removable storage the same as internal storage. Samsung’s regional guidance says data on internal storage is erased while SD-card data is not automatically deleted. Check your card separately and save anything important from it. Samsung Saudi Arabia support

- Open the reset menu. On many Galaxy tablets, go to Settings > General management > Reset > Factory data reset. If your menus differ, open Settings and search for Factory data reset. Samsung Support
- Review what will be erased. Read the warning on the tablet. Continue only if you have saved anything you want to keep and are ready to erase personal data.
- Confirm the reset. Depending on the device, you may need to tap Reset and then Delete all. Follow the labels shown on your screen.
- Authenticate if asked. The tablet may request its screen-lock credentials. If you are signed in to a Samsung account, it may also ask for that account’s password. Samsung’s US instructions note that a network connection is required to log out of a Samsung account before completing the reset; the exact prompts can vary by model and situation. Samsung Support
- Wait for the tablet to restart. When the reset is complete, the tablet returns to its initial setup screen. Samsung Philippines tablet instructions
What to expect during setup after the reset
Set up the tablet from its welcome screen. If Google Factory Reset Protection (FRP) is triggered, you may be asked to verify the Google account that was previously registered on the tablet. Samsung says FRP applies to Android 5.1 and later, and a reset method other than the factory-data-reset option in Settings can trigger it. Samsung’s FRP guidance

Make sure you can access the previously registered account before resetting. A reset does not remove this ownership verification requirement.
Factory data reset is not the same as Reset all settings
Choose Factory data reset when you intend to erase the tablet’s personal data. Reset all settings restores settings but does not erase apps or personal data, so it is not the right option for wiping the device. Samsung Support

If you cannot open Settings
The steps above apply when you can access the tablet’s Settings. If the tablet is locked and you cannot use Settings, do not try a generic button sequence: recovery-button combinations vary by model. Use Samsung support for the exact model-specific recovery options. Samsung Support
