To improve your chances of keeping a haul in ARC Raiders, pick an exit early, reassess as your bag and the threats change, and leave when the value of another search no longer justifies the risk. No extraction is guaranteed safe: main exits attract ARC and other Raiders, while Raider Hatches require a key and have a squad trade-off.

What “extract safely” means in ARC Raiders

Extraction is the point at which you leave a raid with the loot you have collected. The aim is not to find an exit that guarantees safety; it is to make a series of decisions that give you a reasonable chance of getting out before the value of your haul is outweighed by the danger of staying. ARC Raiders describes itself as a multiplayer extraction adventure centered on extracting valuable loot (ARC Raiders).

That distinction matters because an exit is not a protected endpoint. Embark’s ARC Raiders Dev Team says, “Our main extraction points have no direct cost to use, but they draw a lot of attention from both ARC and other players.” The team also says the number of available extractions steadily diminishes the longer a player stays in a session. Those are strategic pressures, not a published fixed countdown or a promise that a particular exit will remain open until a certain time. (Embark’s “Refining Risk and Reward,” July 29, 2025.)

In practice, a good extraction plan answers three questions: which active exits could you reach, how much risk is the loot already in your bag worth taking, and does your squad have a Raider Hatch key that makes an alternative worthwhile? You can use the plan to limit unnecessary exposure, but you cannot use it to eliminate PvP or ARC threats.

Why leaving gets harder the longer you stay

There is a trade-off between searching for more rewards and preserving a way out. Embark describes the choice as chasing more rewards while accepting fewer and riskier extraction options, or escaping earlier with lighter bags. Its account does not give a universal timer or an exact schedule for when exits disappear; do not treat a countdown or a particular number of minutes as a rule unless the game itself shows it for your current raid. (Embark’s extraction design explanation.)

The practical consequence is that another loot stop has a cost beyond the time spent searching. It may leave fewer exits available by the time you are ready to go, or put you in a worse position to reach the exit you chose. The upside is more potential loot; the downside is that everything already secured remains at stake while you continue. That makes a planned departure point more useful than deciding to leave only after you are carrying as much as possible.

Set a “leave now” threshold

Before pushing deeper into a raid, decide what would make you turn back: securing a particularly valuable item, taking enough loot that losing it would matter, becoming injured, making noise, or seeing your likely exit options become less workable. This threshold is a personal rule of thumb, not an in-game mechanic. It helps prevent “one more search” from becoming an automatic choice when the haul you already have is worth bringing home.

Reassess after a meaningful change rather than following a plan blindly. A valuable find can make an early exit more attractive. An injury or a noisy encounter can change the risk of the route you intended to use. A new threat or a change in active map markers may make another exit more practical. The decision is about the current haul and circumstances, not simply how long you have been in the raid.

Main extraction points and Raider Hatches compared

Embark’s July 29, 2025 design post supports two broad options: main extraction points and Raider Hatches. It describes the overall design intent; it does not establish that every exit’s placement, exposure, or behavior is identical after later patches. Compare the options against your current map, inventory, and squad rather than treating either one as the universally best choice.

Main extraction point No direct cost, according to Embark’s design post. Attracts attention from ARC and other Raiders. Available options steadily diminish as the session continues. The ordinary route when an active marker is reachable and its risk is acceptable for the loot you are carrying.
Raider Hatch Requires a Hatch Key, which can be purchased, crafted, or found. Designed to be relatively quiet and quick and to be placed in lower-traffic areas. This is design intent, not a guarantee that every hatch is quiet, uncontested, or currently in the same place. An alternative when you have a key and the resource cost and squad trade-off fit the situation.

These distinctions come from Embark’s “Refining Risk and Reward”. A main point’s lack of direct cost does not make it safe; a hatch’s intended lower-traffic placement does not make it risk-free. Decide using the active exit information available to you in the raid.

When a main point is the sensible choice

A main point is worth considering when it is active, reachable without an unreasonable detour, and the alternative would consume a key you want to save. Since main points attract attention, treat the final approach as exposed rather than assuming that a free exit is an uncontested one. The more loot you have secured, the more carefully you should weigh the approach against the possibility of continuing to search.

When a Raider Hatch may be worth the key

A Raider Hatch can be attractive if you have a Hatch Key and the available hatch makes a more workable exit than the main options. Keys can be purchased, crafted, or found, but having one does not automatically make every hatch the right choice: it is still a resource you spend, and you need to reach the hatch. Embark describes hatch exits as relatively quiet and quick and placed in lower-traffic areas. Because that is a design description from July 2025, use it as a general comparison—not a guarantee about a specific hatch after subsequent updates.

Account for the squad trade-off

Embark’s design post calls squad use of a hatch a “3 for 1 deal.” That can make the key’s value different from a solo decision: a squad should consider who needs to leave and whether the hatch can serve the group, not simply whether one player has a key. Do not assume that the hatch is automatically the best option for all squad members or that its trade-off removes the risk of reaching it. Agree on the plan before splitting up or committing to another search.

A step-by-step extraction plan

  1. Open the map early and identify active exits. Use the in-game map to find your way back and note plausible options before you are heavily loaded. Exit availability and positions are not guaranteed to be the same on every map or raid; Embark says the number of available extractions diminishes as a session continues. (Embark’s extraction design explanation.)
  2. Choose a primary route and a fallback. Pick an exit you can realistically reach from where you are, then consider what you would do if that option no longer works. A fallback is a planning aid, not a promise that another marker will stay available. Confirm the current map rather than relying on a memorized route or a guide written for an earlier patch.
  3. Match the exit to the loot you have secured. Ask whether the likely reward from another search is worth risking the haul already in your bag. Consider the exposure of a main point, the Hatch Key cost of a hatch, and any squad trade-off. The right choice can change after a valuable find, an injury, a noisy encounter, or a change in threats.
  4. Stop extending the raid automatically. If the loot you already have is worth preserving, start moving toward an exit rather than adding another stop by habit. Staying longer means accepting the possibility of fewer available extraction options; Embark gives no fixed universal countdown, so use the active markers and evolving situation rather than an assumed timer.
  5. Approach with awareness. Because extraction points can draw ARC and other players, check the surroundings and avoid making unnecessary noise as you move in. These are general tactical precautions, not developer-confirmed counter-camping tricks or a guarantee that an exit is clear. Do not rush through a threat just because you have decided to leave.
  6. Confirm event-item requirements before counting on a reward. During Forgotten Relics, relic Merit value depends on rarity, and you must successfully extract with the relic in hand to claim those Merits. That rule is specific to the event, not a general statement about every item or every reward. (Embark’s June 16, 2026 Live Update 1.33.0.)
  7. Use the live marker for the final decision. Check the current in-game map and active markers as you approach. A named location in a guide can help orient you, but it cannot confirm that the same exit is active in this raid.

How to judge whether another loot run is worth it

There is no published universal loot threshold that tells every player when to leave. Instead, compare the additional reward you hope to gain with the risk of losing what is already secured and the extraction options you may give up by staying. A small, uncertain extra find may not justify a longer route when you already have items you care about. A relatively empty bag and a workable exit can make continued looting more reasonable, if you accept that the available ways out may diminish.

  • Value already secured: The more important the current haul is to you, the less attractive an unnecessary detour becomes.
  • Value still expected: A search is speculative until you find something. Do not treat a possible reward as if it were already yours.
  • Exit options: Consider whether the main point you planned to use is still active and whether a hatch key offers a viable alternative.
  • Current exposure: Injury, noise, nearby threats, or a difficult approach can alter the cost of staying or leaving.
  • Squad needs: A plan that works for a solo Raider may not work for a group, particularly when a hatch key and its 3-for-1 trade-off are involved.

This is a decision framework, not a calculation with known odds. The reviewed official sources do not establish a current population-wide extraction success rate, death rate, loot-loss rate, or hatch usage rate. Embark’s design post reported that high-level players used Raider Hatches “40% of the time” in the TT2 test; that is a historical observation from that test, not a current live-game usage statistic. (Embark’s “Refining Risk and Reward”.)

Keep route information current

ARC Raiders is a live-service game, and exit details can vary by map, condition, and update. Embark released Frozen Trail 2.0 on October 8, 2026. Its notes highlight the Pendola Pass map, new map conditions, enemies, weapons, items, the Outpost, and other systems; they do not describe a general replacement of the main-exit and Raider-Hatch trade-off discussed in the 2025 design post. That makes the older post useful for the high-level decision, but not a guarantee about exact current markers or routes. (Frozen Trail – 2.0 Update.)

A fan-made extraction guide updated October 7, 2026 lists exits for Dam Battlegrounds, Buried City, Spaceport, Blue Gate, Stella Montis, and Riven Tides. It can help you locate possible names, but its listings are secondary information and should be checked against your current map. For example, that guide lists Raider Hatch markers at Wharf, Railyard, and Transfer Depot on Riven Tides, and Cargo Elevator markers at Wreckage and Customs House. Those are not established here as exhaustive or permanently available locations. (Arc Raiders AI’s map guide.)

Use a guide to orient yourself, then let the live game settle the question of which exit you can use. A route list cannot account for every map condition or the status of markers in your current session. This matters most when you are carrying a valuable haul: taking a detour to a remembered location is not safer if the exit is unavailable or no longer practical to reach.

Common extraction mistakes to avoid

Waiting for a perfectly safe exit

No source-backed rule establishes that a main point or hatch is safe, uncontested, or guaranteed to preserve loot. Main points attract attention, and the hatch’s lower-traffic design intent is not a promise that no one will be nearby. Make a choice based on relative risk rather than waiting for certainty the game does not promise.

Assuming there is a fixed last-call timer

Embark says extraction options diminish over time but does not give a universal countdown in the cited design explanation. Avoid building a plan around a specific number of minutes unless a current in-game feature provides that information for your session.

Spending a Hatch Key without considering the group

A hatch is not a free exit, and its squad economics differ from a solo escape. Before using one, consider the key cost, which squad members need to extract, and whether this particular hatch is actually a better option than the active main points.

Following old location advice as if it were a live marker

Map lists and player tactics can help you navigate, but exact exits and routes can change by map, condition, and update. Confirm locations in the current map rather than treating an older guide’s route as an in-game guarantee.

Assuming an event reward counts before you extract

For Forgotten Relics, simply carrying a relic during a raid is not enough to claim its Merit: you must successfully extract with it in hand. Its Merit value varies by rarity, and this is an event-specific rule, so check the relevant event instructions rather than applying it to unrelated loot.

What to remember before you leave

  • Identify possible exits early, then reassess the active markers as the raid develops.
  • Choose between a free main point that attracts attention and a key-dependent hatch with a squad trade-off.
  • Decide whether more searching is worth risking the haul you already have; do not stay simply because you have not reached a fixed timer.
  • Approach as if the exit may be exposed. Awareness can help you make a better decision, but it cannot guarantee a clear route or successful extraction.
  • For exact locations and event objectives, rely on the current map and applicable current instructions, not assumptions carried over from another raid or update.

How do I get a Raider Hatch Key?

The design explanation says Hatch Keys can be purchased, crafted, or found. A key is a resource requirement, so compare its value against the available main exits and your squad’s needs before using it.

Is a Raider Hatch safer than a main extraction point?

Embark describes hatches as relatively quiet and quick and placed in lower-traffic areas, but that is design intent, not a guarantee for every hatch or raid. Main points attract attention, while hatches require a key and have a squad trade-off. Neither exit type guarantees a safe extraction.

How long do I have before extraction points disappear?

The cited official design post says available extractions steadily diminish the longer a session continues, but it does not give a universal fixed timer or exact countdown. Check active markers in your current raid.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do Forgotten Relics count if I carry one but fail to extract?

For the Forgotten Relics event, relic Merits depend on rarity and require successfully extracting with the relic in hand. That requirement is specific to that event, not a general rule for all loot or events.

The Bottom Line

Identify a reachable exit early, then keep weighing the value of your current haul against the risks of staying. Main points cost nothing directly but draw attention; Raider Hatches require a key and involve a squad trade-off. Neither guarantees safety, so verify active markers in the current map and leave when another search is no longer worth risking what you have.
