To make your TECNO, Infinix, or itel phone last longer between charges, start with the screen: lower brightness and shorten screen timeout. Then enable the power-saving mode available on your model, review apps using battery in the background, and switch off connectivity features you are not using. Menu names and available features vary by phone and software version, so look under Battery, Power, or Phone Manager rather than relying on one menu path to work for every device.
Start with the settings most likely to reduce everyday drain
Make a few targeted changes before looking for a complicated fix. A bright display that stays on after you put the phone down, background activity from apps you rarely use, and connections you do not currently need are all reasonable places to look. Manufacturer guidance from itel specifically recommends reducing brightness and screen timeout, using power-saving mode, limiting power-intensive apps, and disabling unused functions. Its recommendations are general guidance, not a guarantee of a particular number of extra hours on every phone (itel’s Philippines FAQ).
- Reduce screen drain. Lower the brightness to a comfortable level, or use automatic brightness if it suits the way you use your phone. Shorten the screen timeout so the display turns off sooner when you stop interacting with it.
- Turn on the built-in power-saving mode. Find the mode offered by your phone and enable it when you need to stretch the remaining charge. Its name, controls, and effect can differ across models.
- Review battery use by app. Look for apps consuming power in the background, then restrict background activity or remove apps you do not need if your phone offers those choices.
- Disable connections and syncing you are not using. Consider Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, location, hotspot, mobile data, scanning, and auto-sync according to what you need at that moment.
After changing a setting, use the phone normally and observe whether the drain improves. Battery life is affected by your screen use, apps, signal conditions, battery condition, and model; there is no well-supported universal percentage or extra-hours figure to promise for these changes.
For a quick first pass, ask what is actually active when the phone is losing charge. If the display is often left on, start there. If you recently used the phone as a hotspot, check that it is no longer sharing a connection. If battery usage points to an app you rarely use, investigate that app rather than applying restrictions to every app. This keeps the changes relevant to your habits and makes it easier to spot an unwanted side effect.

Reduce the display’s time and brightness
The screen is a practical first adjustment because it is visible during use and can remain lit after you put the phone down. Lower brightness until the display is comfortable to read, especially indoors. If your phone provides automatic brightness and it behaves well in your surroundings, try it; otherwise, choose a lower manual level that remains usable. The aim is not to make the screen difficult to see, but to avoid keeping it brighter than you need.
Brightness and timeout address different habits. Brightness changes how much light the display produces while you are using it; timeout changes how long it remains on after you stop. If you already keep brightness low but frequently leave the phone unlocked between tasks, shortening timeout may be the more useful adjustment. If the display turns off too soon while you are reading, adjust the setting to a duration that works for that task rather than making the phone inconvenient to use.
Shorten the screen timeout
Screen timeout, sleep, or backlight duration determines how long the display stays on after inactivity. Choose a shorter option if you often leave the phone unlocked on a table or desk. A shorter timeout can be inconvenient if you read without touching the screen, follow a recipe, or need to inspect a page for a long time. In those cases, adjust it to suit the task and restore a shorter setting afterward if useful.

Those are S23-specific instructions, not proof that all itel phones use the same setting names or menus (itel S23 (S665L) User Manual). On another model, look in Display or Screen settings, or search the Settings app for “timeout,” “sleep,” or “brightness.” The precise labels may differ.
Use your phone’s power-saving mode
Power-saving modes are designed to reduce energy use by changing how some phone functions operate. Enable the mode your device provides when you want longer runtime, particularly when the charge is low or you expect to be away from a charger. Some phones offer more than one mode or let you configure when a mode turns on. Do not assume a feature mentioned for one model exists on another.

On itel phones, the manufacturer’s Philippines FAQ documents a power-saving setting and includes the question “How to put on power saving mode.” Its FAQ also contains legacy or model-specific menu labels; treat them as examples for particular devices rather than a universal route. Check Battery, Power, or Phone Manager on your own phone, and consult the model manual if you cannot find the control (itel’s Philippines FAQ).
If you cannot find a mode with that exact name, search Settings for “power saving” or “battery,” or check the phone’s built-in Phone Manager if it has one. Do not assume that a missing label means your phone has no way to manage power: a control may be named differently, or the model may offer fewer modes. The model manual is the safer guide to what is actually available.
Some modes are specific to particular models
| Phone or range documented | Feature described by the manufacturer | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| TECNO POP 7 | Battery Lab features including Long Battery Life, Super Power Saving, and Smart Power Saving Scenarios. | These are features described for the POP 7 on TECNO’s Turkish product page, not universal instructions for every TECNO phone (TECNO POP 7 product page). |
| Infinix SMART 7 and SMART 8 | Power Marathon and Ultra Power Saving are described on the respective Infinix regional product pages. | The feature descriptions apply to the named models and pages, not to every Infinix phone. Manufacturer runtime figures shown there are not a promise of typical results on other models (Infinix SMART 7; Infinix SMART 8 – Indonesia). |
These branded features are examples of what particular phones may offer, not a ranking of which brand lasts longest. The cited Infinix pages include model-specific runtime claims, but those claims should not be treated as a typical-use guarantee or a prediction for a different phone. Look at the mode descriptions on your own device and decide whether any restrictions fit what you need to do.
A more restrictive mode may limit some background or connected activity. If an app, notification, or service does not behave as you expect after enabling it, check the mode’s settings and adjust the restriction that affects that function. Menus and available options depend on the phone.
Find and manage apps that use battery in the background
When battery life changes unexpectedly, check which apps are using power before removing or restricting anything. Open Settings and look for Battery, Battery usage, Power, or a similarly named section; some phones place related controls in Phone Manager. The exact path is not established as universal across TECNO, Infinix, and itel models, so use Settings search or the manual for your specific phone if those labels do not appear.

- Open the battery or power-usage screen and inspect the apps listed as consuming power.
- Look for an app you do not use often that is still active in the background, rather than assuming the largest entry is automatically a problem. Apps you use heavily may naturally account for more of your use.
- If the phone offers a background restriction for an app you rarely need, apply it selectively. Check whether that app still provides the notifications or updates you rely on.
- Uninstall apps you no longer need, if appropriate. Recheck battery use during normal use rather than making several restrictions at once.
Read the list as a clue about your own use, not as a verdict. An app that appears near the top may simply be one you use often. An app you seldom open is more worth checking if it is also active in the background and you do not need its updates. If you are unsure what an app does, avoid restricting it until you have checked whether it provides a service or notification you depend on.
Do not force-close every app as a routine battery-saving technique. The manufacturer guidance supports reviewing power-intensive or background apps and restricting or removing apps you do not need; it does not recommend indiscriminately closing everything. Broad restrictions can also interfere with notifications or other background functions you expect. Make a small, reversible change and verify its effect.
Turn off connections and syncing when they are not needed
itel’s general FAQ and S23 manual identify unused functions and syncing as settings to consider when trying to save battery. The S23 manual specifically lists auto-sync, hotspot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS among features to turn off when unused, while the FAQ also refers to mobile data, location, scanning, and other functions (itel’s Philippines FAQ; itel S23 manual). Treat this as a checklist, not a requirement to disable everything.
- Hotspot: Turn it off when you have finished sharing the phone’s connection. A hotspot is unnecessary if no device needs to connect to it.
- Wi-Fi and Bluetooth: Switch them off when you are not using Wi-Fi or a connected Bluetooth device, if convenient. Re-enable them when you need that connection.
- Location or GPS: Disable location when no service or app needs it, or review which apps can use it if your phone provides that control. Location-dependent functions will not work as expected until location is available again.
- Mobile data: Turn it off when you do not need mobile internet. You will lose data access over the mobile network until you re-enable it; this may affect apps that need a connection.
- Scanning and auto-sync: If your model exposes these controls, disable scanning or automatic syncing only when you are comfortable with the related convenience or update being unavailable or delayed. Names and effects vary by device.
Think of these as situational switches rather than a list to disable permanently. For example, hotspot matters when another device needs your connection; Bluetooth matters when you are using a connected accessory; location matters to services that need it. Leaving a feature off can make the related service unavailable until you turn it back on, so choose based on what you need in that moment.
The tradeoff is straightforward: a disabled connection or location feature cannot provide its usual service until you turn it back on. Keep what you need for navigation, calls or messages, connected accessories, and timely updates. Saving battery should not leave you without a function you depend on.

Check whether the change actually helps
Battery use varies with the way you use the phone and the model, so a setting change should be judged on your own device rather than against a generic claim. A useful check is to note the battery level and your usual pattern of use, make one change, then see how the phone behaves during a comparable stretch of normal use. If you change brightness, timeout, power mode, and several app restrictions all at once, it becomes harder to tell which change made a difference or caused an inconvenience.
A simple troubleshooting sequence
- Check battery usage. Review the battery or power screen for apps and functions consuming power. Use the list to decide what to investigate, not as a reason to restrict every app shown there.
- Choose one likely cause. If the display stays on for a long time, start with timeout. If an app you rarely use is active in the background, review that app’s background settings. If hotspot is still on after sharing, turn it off.
- Keep the change focused. Adjust one setting or one app at a time. Leave essential connections and notifications enabled if you rely on them.
- Observe normal use. Compare how the phone behaves under roughly similar use. Screen time, apps, signal conditions, model, and battery condition can all affect the result, so one day may not match another exactly.
- Undo a change that breaks something important. Restore the relevant connection or app permission if you stop receiving a needed notification, cannot use a location service, or lose another expected function.
For a fair comparison, avoid comparing a day spent mostly reading or browsing with a day when you used different apps or needed different connections. The point is not to calculate a precise battery score, but to see whether a focused setting change seems to help without making the phone less useful. If it does not help, restore it if necessary and investigate another likely source of drain.
If the phone still drains quickly, repeat the battery-usage check and look for a different app or function to investigate. A single high-use period is not enough to establish that the battery is defective: the observed drain may reflect what was running or how the phone was used.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Persistent unexplained drain may point to battery wear
If you have checked power use and disabled features you do not need but the phone continues to lose charge unusually quickly, battery wear is one possible explanation. itel’s Philippines FAQ says a worn battery may need replacement when drain cannot be explained by consuming features. That guidance does not diagnose a particular phone: persistent drain alone does not prove that wear is the cause (itel’s Philippines FAQ).
Before buying a replacement battery or arranging service, confirm the exact phone model and the part or service route suitable for it. The advice and model examples here do not establish compatibility for a specific device, and a replacement that fits one phone should not be assumed to fit another. Check the model information on the phone or its documentation, then consult the manufacturer’s support information or an appropriate service provider about the correct replacement options.

A power bank or charger can replenish the phone when its charge runs low, but it does not make the phone’s own battery last longer between charges. For this goal, the first steps are settings and usage changes. Consider replacement only if the battery may be worn and the correct part or service has been confirmed for the exact model.
Why one menu path or battery claim cannot cover every phone
TECNO, Infinix, and itel use model-specific feature names and menu arrangements. The available manufacturer documentation includes an itel FAQ with older or model-specific labels, an S23 manual for that one itel model, a TECNO POP 7 feature description, and Infinix pages for specific SMART models. None establishes one current, universal path through Settings for every model, software version, or region.
For that reason, use the settings categories as signposts: search for Battery, Power, Battery usage, or Phone Manager, and consult the manual for the exact model when labels differ. Likewise, do not treat a runtime claim or named power-saving feature on a particular product page as a result guaranteed on another phone. Your own model, settings, battery condition, signal, apps, and use determine what you experience.
Frequently Asked Questions
How can I prolong battery life on my mobile phone?
Start by lowering screen brightness and shortening screen timeout. Use the power-saving mode available on your model, review apps using battery in the background, and switch off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, location, hotspot, mobile data, scanning, or auto-sync when you do not need them. Make changes selectively so you do not disable a service you rely on.
How do I put my TECNO, Infinix, or itel phone on power-saving mode?
Look in Settings under Battery or Power, or check Phone Manager if your phone has it. Search Settings for “power saving” if the label is not obvious. The menu path and mode names vary by model and software version, so consult the manual for your exact phone rather than assuming a route shown for another model will match.
Should I turn off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, location, and mobile data all the time?
No. Switch off a connection or location feature when it is not needed and convenient to do so. While it is disabled, the connected accessory, mobile internet, or location-dependent service may not work until you turn the feature back on.
What should I do if my phone still loses charge quickly?
Check the battery-usage screen again and review apps or functions that may be active in the background. Make one focused change at a time and observe the phone during normal use. If drain remains unexplained, battery wear is one possibility, but fast drain alone does not prove the battery is worn. Confirm the exact model and suitable replacement or service route before buying a part.

For a longer stretch between charges, begin with lower brightness and a shorter screen timeout, then use your phone’s power-saving mode and selectively manage background apps and unused connections. Menu labels and branded features vary across TECNO, Infinix, and itel models. If unexplained drain continues after checking settings, battery wear is possible; verify the exact model and replacement options before buying a battery.
