1010music Bento does not document a one-button command that exports every track as separate, aligned WAV stems. The supported workflow is to route Bento tracks to its three output buses, record those stereo buses over USB into a DAW, and finish the resulting files there. You can also capture the analog outputs through an audio interface. A mute-one-track-and-record pass is discussed by users, but it is a manual workaround rather than a guaranteed export feature.

What Bento can—and cannot—export

People searching for an option to export a song as multiple audio tracks, export tracks, or export stems from a project are usually asking for individual files that start at the same time and can be edited or mixed elsewhere. The documentation available for Bento describes output routing, mixer muting and multichannel USB audio. It does not describe an automatic per-track WAV-render command for a complete arrangement.

That distinction determines the safest workflow. Bento can place tracks on output 1, output 2 or output 3. A computer can then record the resulting output feeds while Bento plays. If you need more independent parts than the three available stereo buses, you must change routing and make additional passes, or use the manual workaround described later.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Supported approach: route tracks to output buses and record the buses over USB.
  • Supported alternative: send the analog outputs to a suitable multichannel audio interface and record them in the DAW.
  • Unofficial workaround: mute every track except one, record a pass, restore the arrangement and repeat.
  • Not established by the documentation: an automatic command that writes one aligned WAV file per Bento track.

Check firmware before connecting the studio

Firmware matters because USB audio was introduced in the 1.5 release line. 1010music’s release notes v1.5.30, dated July 17, 2026, describe USB audio, while the Downloads page lists Bento firmware 1.5.32 for July 2026. The inspected user manual is version 1.3.17b, dated December 19, 2025, so some USB-related behavior and labels post-date that manual.

  1. Open 1010music’s current Bento Downloads page and note the newest firmware and release notes shown for your unit.
  2. Update Bento according to the manufacturer’s instructions if it is on a version without USB audio.
  3. Read the release notes for the exact version installed. Menu names and behavior can change after the 1.3.17b manual.
  4. Do not begin a long capture until you have made a short test recording and confirmed that the computer receives audio.

Firmware 1.5.32 is the version listed for July 2026, not a promise that it remains the newest version after that date. Treat the release notes for your installed build as the authority for current labels.

Choose a stem-capture method

Method What you capture at once Effects behavior Computer and hardware Best use
USB multichannel recording Three stereo feeds corresponding to Bento outputs 1, 2 and 3 Output 1 carries Bento’s documented processing; outputs 2 and 3 are dry in the routing description USB data connection to the computer; no separate audio interface is required for the USB path Fastest supported way to preserve three stereo groups in one pass
Analog output capture The stereo signals physically assigned to Bento’s three analog outputs Depends on the output assignment and processing you choose in Bento Three suitable stereo inputs on an audio interface, plus appropriate cables and level handling Studios that already mix through an interface or need an analog chain
One-track-at-a-time pass One muted-isolated track or group per recording pass Depends on routing and whether the track passes through output processing Any reliable stereo recording path; substantial manual setup More isolated parts when bus routing cannot provide enough separation

USB is the clearest documented path because Bento’s release notes specify the computer-facing channels. Analog capture is valid, but the correct interface input range and cable arrangement depend on your equipment. The pass-by-pass method requires the most discipline because every file must use the same transport start, arrangement state and duration.

Prepare the project for a clean capture

Make a safety copy

Save the Bento project before changing output assignments or muting tracks. Work from a duplicate if the project is important. Also create a clearly named DAW session for the capture date and firmware version. Keeping both sides of the session makes it possible to reproduce a pass when you discover a routing mistake.

Decide what each stereo group should contain

Think in terms of mix groups rather than individual files. For example, you might put drums on one bus, melodic material on another, and a processed performance mix on the remaining bus. Bento’s three outputs are routing destinations, not three guaranteed copies of the same mix. A track assigned to output 1 will not behave exactly like one assigned to output 2 or 3 because of the processing available on those paths.

Set a fixed transport range

Choose a start point before the first take and keep the same start point, tempo, arrangement and stop point for every subsequent take. Include a short count-in or pre-roll if your production needs it, but do not change that decision between passes. Consistent boundaries are what make later files line up on the DAW timeline.

Label the intended outputs

Write down the assignment before recording. A simple note such as Out 1: performance FX; Out 2: drums; Out 3: synths prevents a later mix-up. Use the same names for DAW tracks and exported files.

Record three stereo feeds over USB

1. Connect the correct USB side

Use Bento’s USB device/data connection to the computer. The 1.5 release notes describe using the data side of the supplied power/data splitter. Bento can draw power from the computer while connected. If you prefer separate power, or if computer USB power introduces noise, use the supplied splitter with an appropriate power source as described by 1010music.

Use a data-capable USB cable and connect directly for the initial test rather than adding an unpowered hub. If the computer does not see Bento, try another data cable and confirm that the unit is powered before troubleshooting the DAW.

2. Select Bento as the recording source

In the computer’s audio settings and in the DAW’s audio-device or input configuration, select the Bento microphone input or equivalent Bento USB input. The release notes describe one stereo channel received by Bento and three stereo channels sent from Bento; for stem capture, you need the computer to expose Bento’s outgoing stereo feeds as recordable inputs.

DAWs name multichannel devices differently. Look for a device input list that exposes three stereo pairs rather than assuming that a single input labeled Bento is the only choice. If only one pair appears, stop and resolve the driver, device-mode or DAW-input configuration before recording.

3. Assign each Bento track to an output

Open the configuration for each audio track and choose output 1, output 2 or output 3. The manual documents these destinations for supported track types. Apply the assignments deliberately: a track left on an unintended destination will be absent from the bus you expected to record.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

4. Create matching stereo tracks in the DAW

Create one stereo audio track for each available Bento feed. Name them with both the output number and their contents, for example Bento Out 1 - FX mix. Set each track’s input to the corresponding stereo pair, enable input monitoring only when needed, and arm all required tracks.

5. Test before the full take

Start playback for a few bars and watch every DAW meter. Confirm that the expected material appears on the expected track, that no bus is clipping, and that the DAW records from the beginning of the chosen range. Stop, discard the test audio if necessary, and correct routing before the real take.

6. Record the arrangement

Return Bento and the DAW to the fixed start point. Start the DAW recording, then start Bento playback, or use the synchronization method your setup supports. Record the complete arrangement, including the same count-in and tail on every pass. At the end, stop the DAW before changing any Bento routing.

7. Save both projects

Save the DAW session immediately and save the Bento project in its current state. Bento also stores recorded sample WAV files on microSD, but those sample files are not automatically aligned exports of an entire arrangement. Treat the microSD material and the DAW bus recordings as separate assets.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Understand the three USB feeds before mixing

The 1.5 release notes say the computer receives three stereo USB signals that mirror Bento’s analog outputs 1, 2 and 3. This means the DAW’s three stereo recordings follow Bento’s output routing; they are not an independent per-track tap taken before the mixer.

Processing is also unequal by design. Output 1 includes Mod FX, reverb, delay, compressor and DJ FX processing according to the 1.5 notes. The manual’s routing description treats outputs 2 and 3 as dry. Decide whether that is desirable before capture:

  • Use output 1 for a group that benefits from Bento’s effects or dynamics when you want those sounds printed.
  • Use outputs 2 and 3 for material you want to process later in the DAW without Bento’s documented output effects.
  • If you need both a processed and an unprocessed version of the same material, plan separate routing or recording passes; do not assume the three feeds are interchangeable copies.

Monitor the recorded files, not only Bento’s headphones or meters. A sound can be audible on the unit while being assigned to a different USB pair than expected.

Finish the captured stems in your DAW

Align and consolidate

Place every recorded stereo file at the same timeline origin used for the Bento start point. If the DAW recorded a short lead-in, keep it consistently or trim every file by the same amount. Consolidate each stem from a common zero or bar-one location so another project can import them without guessing offsets.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Preserve headroom

Do not normalize or add limiting before you have checked the mix balance. Output 1 may already contain compression and effects, while outputs 2 and 3 are described as dry. Leave sufficient peak headroom for summing and label any printed processing in the file name or session notes.

Keep source and working versions

Archive the untouched recordings from the USB capture. Perform edits, fades, noise cleanup and creative processing on copies or inside the DAW session. A separate folder for 01_source_capture, 02_edited_stems and 03_exports makes it clear which files retain Bento’s original timing and processing.

Include the tempo, bar-one location, firmware version, output assignment and whether output 1 effects were printed in a text note. Those details are more useful to another engineer than a filename that only says Stem 1.

Capture Bento’s analog outputs instead

Bento has three stereo analog outputs. The manual describes its 3.5 mm TRS outputs as operating at Eurorack levels above consumer line level, so a conventional interface may need appropriate input headroom, attenuation or a compatible input stage. The exact cable and interface configuration depends on the hardware in your studio.

  1. Confirm that your audio interface has enough suitable inputs for the stereo outputs you want to capture.
  2. Use cables and level reduction appropriate for Bento’s output level and the interface’s input type.
  3. Route Bento tracks to outputs 1, 2 and 3 using the same planning method as the USB workflow.
  4. Create matching stereo tracks in the DAW and select the interface input pairs.
  5. Send a short signal and check that the interface meters remain below clipping.
  6. Record the fixed arrangement range, then save the DAW session and Bento project.

Analog capture can fit a studio built around an interface or external processing, but it adds gain-staging decisions that USB recording avoids. If the interface clips while Bento’s own meter looks healthy, reduce the incoming level rather than lowering the DAW fader after conversion.

Use the manual pass-by-pass workaround when buses are not enough

A manufacturer-hosted forum discussion includes a user suggestion to mute all tracks except one and render or record a pass for each track. Other users discuss grouping tracks to outputs. These posts show that people use such workarounds; they do not establish a guaranteed one-button stem-render function from 1010music.

If you choose this method, treat every pass as a fresh recording of the same performance:

  1. Save a master copy of the Bento project and a copy for the pass sequence.
  2. Set the project, tempo, transport start, arrangement and effects exactly as they were for the first pass.
  3. Mute every track except the track or group being captured. Verify that return channels or shared effects are not unintentionally muted or left active.
  4. Assign the audible track or group to a known output and record it to a DAW stereo track.
  5. Stop at the same endpoint used for the first pass and name the file with the track, output and take number.
  6. Undo or change only the mute and routing needed for the next pass. Do not alter notes, automation, tempo or pattern length.
  7. After the final pass, import all files into a new DAW timeline and check their transients against one another.

Shared effects require special care. If several tracks normally feed a reverb or delay, isolating one track can change the effect return. Decide whether you want a printed effect on each isolated file, a separate effects stem, or dry source material, and document that choice. This workaround is slower and more error-prone than recording the three buses simultaneously, but it can provide additional separation when the project cannot be sensibly divided among three outputs.

Common failures and fixes

The computer shows Bento, but the DAW records silence

  • Check that the USB connection is the data side of the splitter, not a power-only path.
  • Confirm Bento is running firmware with USB audio support.
  • Choose Bento as the DAW’s input device and enable the relevant stereo input pairs.
  • Arm the track and verify that its input is assigned to a Bento pair rather than the computer’s built-in microphone.
  • Play a short passage and watch the input meter before pressing record.

Only one stereo pair appears

Recheck the operating-system device selection and the DAW’s input-channel configuration. Some software exposes only the first pair until additional inputs are enabled. If the device still presents fewer channels than the release notes describe, test another USB port or cable and verify the installed firmware before changing the Bento project.

The wrong material is on a recorded bus

Open each Bento track’s output assignment and compare it with your written routing map. Remember that the USB feeds mirror the analog outputs, so an assignment mistake in Bento appears consistently in both capture methods. Make a short test after correcting the route.

Output 1 sounds processed while the others do not

This is expected from the documented routing behavior: output 1 includes Bento’s listed effects and processing, while outputs 2 and 3 are described as dry. Move the track to a dry output before recording if you need to process it later, or keep the processed take and label it clearly.

The analog recording clips

Bento’s 3.5 mm outputs can be above consumer line level. Reduce the level with appropriate hardware or an interface input designed for the signal, then repeat the meter test. Lowering a DAW fader after a clipped converter cannot restore the lost peaks.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Passes drift out of alignment

Use the same transport start, tempo, arrangement and duration for every pass. Keep the original Bento project unchanged while recording. In the DAW, place all files at a common origin and compare a clear transient near the beginning; if the transient moves, redo the affected pass rather than trying to conceal the error with arbitrary nudging.

USB noise appears in the recording

The release notes note that separate power can be preferred when USB noise is an issue. Try the supplied power/data splitter with separate power, then make another short recording before committing to the full arrangement.

A practical capture checklist

  • Bento firmware and release notes checked for the installed version.
  • Project duplicated and saved before routing changes.
  • USB data connection or analog interface path tested.
  • Output map written down, including which material is intended for output 1, 2 and 3.
  • DAW stereo tracks named and assigned to the correct input pairs.
  • Short test recorded and auditioned on every feed.
  • Start point, tempo, arrangement and stop point fixed for all takes.
  • Output 1 processing decision documented.
  • DAW session and Bento project saved after capture.
  • Source recordings archived before editing or normalization.

Bottom line for a Bento-to-DAW stem workflow

Use USB multichannel recording when you want the clearest supported workflow: route Bento tracks to its three outputs and record those stereo feeds in the DAW. Use analog capture when your interface and gain staging suit Bento’s output levels. If you need one file per track, the documented material does not provide an automatic export command; isolate and record passes manually, preserving identical timing and checking shared effects. In every case, save the Bento project alongside the DAW session so the routing that produced each stem remains recoverable.
