Use Samsung Gallery’s Object eraser: open the photo, tap Edit, then More settings → Object eraser → Erase shadow. Check the edited image against the original before saving; the result depends on the photo and shooting conditions.
Remove a shadow with Object eraser

Open the photo in the Samsung Gallery app.

Tap Edit, shown as a pencil icon.

Open More settings, then choose Object eraser.

Tap Erase shadow and review the result. Save only when you are satisfied.
This is Samsung’s documented route. The exact labels and layout can differ by Galaxy model, software version, and app version. Samsung India Support’s Object Eraser instructions, last updated September 23, 2026, describe Shadow Erase as automatically distinguishing shadows to remove from shadows to retain. That is Samsung’s description of the feature, not a guarantee that every photo will be corrected perfectly.

Look for Gallery’s edit suggestions: open the photo and swipe up. On some interfaces, suggestions may appear under the photo’s Details control, marked with an i. Samsung’s support examples show a suggestion called Erase shadows; if it appears, follow the prompt to tap or draw around an area or adjust a slider. Samsung’s Gallery edit-suggestions instructions and Samsung’s Object Eraser guidance illustrate these alternate entry points.

If neither route appears, check for device software and Gallery app updates, then look again.

Availability and placement can vary. Samsung’s reviewed instructions do not establish a complete compatibility list across every Galaxy model, carrier, and region, so a missing option does not by itself identify the cause.

Check the edited photo before keeping it
Inspect the area where the shadow was and nearby edges or textures. Automated removal can leave visible changes, and Samsung says the outcome may differ with the photo and shooting situation. Compare the result with the original; if you want to preserve the unedited image, work from a copy where your Gallery version offers that option.
Removing a shadow is different from preventing one
Erase shadow edits a shadow already captured in a photo. If you mean preventing a shadow in a new picture, that requires changing the lighting or camera position before taking it; this editing feature does not change how a future photo is captured.
