To equip an accessory in Marvel Rivals, earn Accessory Points by playing matches, open the Store’s accessories area, redeem an accessory for its specified hero, and use the equip option. Accessories are hero-specific cosmetic items: they change appearance and add a small KO or assist animation, but they do not improve combat statistics.
Menu names and economy values can change. The Store route, prices, and weekly limit below reflect documented 2025 guides unless a newer official note confirms otherwise. Official Season 9.5 notes published August 5, 2026 confirm that accessories were still being released, including The Hood’s “Madrecita Plush,” available from August 7, 2026 at 09:00 UTC.
What accessories do in Marvel Rivals
Accessories are cosmetic charms assigned to individual heroes. They are attached to a hero’s costume and can add visual detail during a match. A contemporary guide also describes a small animated flourish around the KO prompt when you score a KO or assist.

The item is not a universal account-wide decoration. An accessory belongs to the hero named in its listing, so redeeming one for a particular hero does not make it available to every character. The charm’s location can also vary between that hero’s costumes. A placement that looks good on one skin may sit differently on another.

The development team’s December 5, 2024 monetization statement says cosmetics provide “only visual changes, with no stat bonuses or pay-to-win elements.” That policy is the relevant distinction when deciding whether an accessory is worth your points: it is presentation, not a gameplay upgrade.
What you need before equipping one
Accessory Points
Accessory Points are the in-game currency used to redeem accessories. The official Season 3 patch notes from July 11, 2025 introduced the system and said players earn the points in matches before spending them in the Shop.
A compatible hero
Check the accessory’s hero designation before spending points. The item must be equipped to that corresponding hero. If you mainly play a different character, the purchase will not transfer to that character.

No physical accessory, controller, headset, or other external product is needed. The transaction and equip action take place inside the game’s Store and hero-customization systems.
Historical prices and earning limits
Two 2025 guides reported the same standard price and weekly earning limit. These figures are useful for understanding the original economy, but they are not a guaranteed October 2026 price list. The official August 2026 patch notes confirm new accessory releases without publishing a current price, cap, or bonus rule.

If those historical values still applied, one 1,350-point accessory would require two weeks of capped earning because 700 points in one week is short of the price and 1,400 points over two weeks would exceed it. Do not plan a current purchase from that arithmetic alone; inspect the item’s live price and your current progress in the game.
How to use the old figures without treating them as promises
The figures are most useful as a planning example. If your balance is 500 points and the item panel shows a 1,350-point cost, you would need 850 more points. Under a 700-point weekly cap, that would spill into a second earning period. If the game now uses a different cap, a different item price, or a bonus event, the result changes immediately.

Always distinguish three numbers: your current balance, the item’s current cost, and the remaining amount available under the current weekly limit. A full balance does not necessarily mean the item is equipped, and reaching the weekly limit does not unlock an accessory automatically.
How to get Accessory Points
Play eligible matches
The official Season 3 notes establish that Accessory Points are earned in matches. An Esports Insider guide updated October 8, 2025 listed Quick Match, Competitive, Arcade, and Practice Vs. AI as eligible modes at that time.
That mode list is date-specific. The official patch record does not provide a permanent mode-by-mode earning table, and later rules may alter eligibility or rewards. Before grinding a mode solely for points, check the current in-game Accessory Points panel or the reward information shown after a match.
Monitor your progress
Use the Store’s accessory area or the in-game points indicator to see how many points you have earned. If a weekly limit is displayed, treat it as the authoritative limit for the current season rather than relying on an older guide.
Confirm a match actually counted
After a match, compare the reward display with your balance rather than assuming every queue paid points. This is especially important when a mode has rotated, when the weekly limit is close, or when an update has changed reward rules. A mode listed in a 2025 guide is evidence of past eligibility, not a guarantee for the current client.
Step-by-step: redeem and equip an accessory
- Choose the hero first. Decide which hero you want to customize. Read the accessory listing carefully and confirm that its designated hero matches your choice.
- Earn points through matches. Play the modes that the current game interface identifies as rewarding Accessory Points. The 2025 documented list included Quick Match, Competitive, Arcade, and Practice Vs. AI, but the list may have changed.
- Open the Store. The documented October 2025 path was Store > accessories. If the current layout uses different labels, look for the Accessory Points entry point, an accessories category, or the selected hero’s customization page.
- Select an accessory. Open the item for the hero you intend to play. Review its point cost and compatibility before confirming the redemption.
- Redeem the item. Use the purchase or redeem control shown in the item panel. Owned accessories were marked as owned in the October 2025 guide, which helps distinguish an unlocked item from one still requiring points.
- Choose Equip. After redemption, select the equip action and assign the item to its corresponding hero. Buying the item and equipping it are separate decisions in the documented flow.
- Check the hero customization view. Return to that hero and confirm the accessory appears as the active selection. If you use several costumes, inspect the one you plan to play because placement can change by costume.
- Enter a match with that hero. The charm is visible on the designated hero, and the described animation appears near the KO prompt after a KO or assist. The effect is cosmetic and does not alter abilities, damage, health, cooldowns, or other documented combat values.
Where to find the accessory menu if the Store moved
Interface layouts are not fixed. The documented route is the Store’s accessories area, but an update can rename a tab, move it inside a broader customization menu, or expose accessories from the hero screen instead.
- Start with the main Store and look for an accessories category.
- Check the current Accessory Points balance or progress entry; it may link directly to available items.
- Open the intended hero’s customization screen and inspect cosmetic sections for an accessory slot.
- Use the item’s own detail page to locate Redeem and Equip controls.
These alternatives are practical navigation checks, not a claim that every current build uses the same labels. The August 2026 official patch confirms that new accessories continued to appear, but it does not document the exact October 2026 menu structure.

Hero compatibility and costume placement
Accessories are locked to a hero
The hero designation is the most important compatibility check. An accessory purchased for one character should be treated as unavailable to the rest of the roster unless the item’s current description explicitly says otherwise.

Even on the correct hero, the accessory may sit in a different body position with different costumes. This is an appearance issue rather than a malfunction. Preview the item with the costume you actually use before deciding whether its design works for you.
There is no objective best accessory
Because accessories provide visual presentation rather than combat benefits, “best” depends on your preferences. Useful comparison criteria are:
- Whether the accessory belongs to a hero you regularly play.
- How its design fits the costume you use.
- Whether its position remains visible or appealing on that costume.
- Whether you prefer its KO or assist animation.
- Whether its current point cost fits your available balance and earning schedule.
A practical comparison method
When two items are available for the same hero, preview both with the exact costume you intend to use. First check compatibility, then placement, then the animation style, and only afterward compare point costs. Since there is no documented combat difference, a more expensive item is not stronger. A cheaper charm that remains visible on your favorite costume may be the better personal choice.
Understanding the KO and assist animation
The documented guide describes a small animation near the KO prompt after a KO or assist. This is an additional presentation effect associated with the equipped charm. It should not be confused with a new ability, a hit effect that changes damage, or a competitive advantage.

If you do not notice the effect immediately, verify that you are playing the hero assigned to the accessory, that the item is equipped rather than merely owned, and that the event was a KO or assist covered by the accessory’s effect. Costume geometry can also make the charm itself easier or harder to see.
How to decide whether to redeem now
Redeem when the hero and costume are clear
Spend points only after confirming the hero and checking the charm on the costume you expect to use. Since the item is hero-specific, an impulse purchase for a rarely played character has limited value.

Check the live price first
Open the item page immediately before redeeming. Historical guides agree on 1,350 points, but neither the July 2025 nor October 2025 report establishes that this remains the current price. The August 2026 official notes announce a new accessory without stating its cost.
Account for the current weekly rule
If the game displays a weekly cap, record both your current balance and remaining weekly allowance. A cap can affect how quickly you can reach the item’s price. Do not assume the historically reported 700-point limit still applies.
Compare appearance, not combat statistics
There is no documented stat advantage to optimize. Compare the design, costume placement, animation, and point cost instead. If two accessories fit the same hero, the choice is aesthetic and budgetary.
Troubleshooting common problems
The accessory does not appear after purchase
- Confirm that the redemption completed and the item is marked as owned.
- Return to the corresponding hero rather than searching the entire roster.
- Open the customization slot and select Equip; ownership alone does not necessarily mean the item is active.
- Check the costume currently selected, because placement can vary by costume.
The Equip button is missing
- Verify that you are viewing the accessory for its designated hero.
- Make sure you have redeemed the item rather than only previewed it.
- Look for the equip control on the hero customization page if the Store detail page only handles redemption.
- Reopen the item after returning to the main menu in case the interface has not refreshed.
You cannot earn more points
- Check the current weekly progress indicator for a cap.
- Confirm that the mode you are playing is currently listed as eligible.
- Compare the post-match reward screen with your Accessory Points balance.
- Remember that the 700-point weekly limit was reported by 2025 guides and may not describe the current season.
The charm is in an unexpected location
Different costumes can position the same accessory differently. Preview the item with another costume before treating the placement as an error.
You expected a gameplay benefit
Accessories are cosmetic. The development team’s monetization statement explicitly describes paid cosmetics as visual-only and without stat bonuses or pay-to-win effects. A missing damage, health, cooldown, or ability change is therefore expected.
