To enter a Trick or Treat Cheat Code in Fortnite, join an eligible Battle Royale match, find the glowing code panel or object, interact with it, then copy the displayed arrows with your movement controls. Press up for forward, down for backward, and the matching left or right direction. A correct sequence can free a Sprite and may award an additional seasonal treat.
What Trick or Treat Cheat Codes are
Trick or Treat Cheats are the Fortnitemares 2026 version of Fortnite’s in-match Cheat Code mechanic. Epic describes them as a way to input a code and “maybe” receive an extra treat alongside a Sprite. They are normal gameplay interactions, not cheat software, exploits, hacks or account-redeem codes.
The code is represented by an object in the Battle Royale world. You do not type letters or numbers into a website or redemption screen. Instead, you approach the object during a live match and repeat a short directional sequence shown by the game.
How to enter a Trick or Treat Cheat Code
- Start the right mode. Enter a Battle Royale match while the Fortnitemares seasonal feature is active. The event is temporary, so the current in-game prompt and live event status take priority over older guides.
- Search for the code object. Look for a glowing panel or object on the ground or attached to a wall. Move close enough for the interaction prompt to appear.
- Interact with it. Press your platform’s normal interact button. The game will start the code sequence.
- Read the arrows in order. Watch the complete sequence before entering it, if the display allows. The arrows must be followed from first to last.
- Use movement controls to enter it. Treat the arrows as movement directions: forward is up, backward is down, and left and right stay the corresponding directions. Use the controls assigned to movement on your keyboard or controller.
- Wait for the result. A successful entry can free or award a Sprite and may add a Trick or Treat bonus. Epic’s wording is not a guarantee of a reward on every attempt.
Where the code panel can appear
Guides report that panels may spawn on the ground or on walls. There is no permanent, exhaustive spawn list confirmed for the live event, and a location that contains a panel in one match may not contain one in another. Treat each match as a fresh search rather than assuming every marked location is guaranteed.

If the arrows look confusing
Reposition your character around the object and view the panel from a more direct angle. The orientation of the display can make the sequence seem reversed or unclear when you are standing to one side.
If no interaction prompt appears
- Walk around the object and try both sides.
- Check whether a wall, corner or destructible obstruction is hiding part of the panel.
- Move closer until the normal interaction indicator appears.
- If the object is absent, continue searching elsewhere or try another match; seasonal spawns can vary.

Enter the exact order displayed. These are movement inputs, not keyboard symbols that you type into a text field.

Trick or Treat Cheats versus Creative island codes
Both systems use the word “code,” but they work differently and belong to different Fortnite modes.

To use a creator island, open Fortnite, go to Search from Discover, search by the island’s name or code, select the result and play. That flow is separate from entering a directional Trick or Treat Cheat in Battle Royale. For example, an island such as Trick or Treat PVP uses an island code rather than the in-match panel system.

What reward should you expect?
The possible outcome is a Sprite plus an extra seasonal treat, but the reward is not fixed or guaranteed. Epic uses “maybe” in its description, so a successful interaction should be viewed as a chance at a bonus rather than a promised item. Reward details and prompts can change while Fortnitemares is live.

- The mechanic is tied to the Fortnitemares 2026 seasonal Battle Royale content and may disappear or change after the event.
