To get VCT match alerts, configure the official VALORANT/VCT channel on the platform you use, then allow notifications at the app, browser, and device level. On YouTube, subscribe and set the bell to All notifications. On Twitch, follow the channel and set its channel notifications to Always or Go Live Only. A subscription or follow by itself is not enough for reliable alerts.
The steps below cover desktop and mobile settings, explain what each alert mode actually sends, and show how to recover when a match notification does not arrive.
Before you start: choose the official VCT channel
Use the official VALORANT or VCT channel on YouTube and Twitch rather than an unofficial co-stream, fan account, or clip channel. VALORANT’s official viewing information directs fans to YouTube and Twitch for official broadcasts. Search for the channel inside the platform, open its profile, and confirm that its name and branding match the official VALORANT esports presence before subscribing or following.

You can configure both platforms. That is useful when a broadcast is available on one service but not the other, or when one platform’s push system is delayed. Each service has its own channel setting and its own device-permission layer, so enabling one does not enable the other.

How to turn on VCT notifications on YouTube
1. Subscribe to the official channel
- Open YouTube and go to the official VALORANT/VCT channel.
- Select Subscribe.
- Select the notification bell next to the subscription.
- Choose All notifications.
YouTube says a new subscription starts with personalized notifications. Its All notifications mode is the broad setting: it can send mobile, web, or inbox alerts for long-form uploads and live streams. Personalized is selective and may cover only some uploads, Shorts, and live streams, so it is not the right choice when missing the start of a match is unacceptable.
2. Enable YouTube’s delivery channels
The channel bell controls what YouTube considers worth notifying you about, but YouTube’s account settings control where those alerts can be delivered.
- Open your YouTube profile menu.
- Go to Settings → Notifications.
- Enable the mobile, desktop, and email notification categories you want to use.
- On a computer, allow Chrome desktop notifications if you want browser pop-ups. If your browser has blocked YouTube notifications, the YouTube setting cannot override that block.
For a phone-only setup, enable mobile notifications and then check the operating system’s YouTube permission. For a browser-plus-email setup, enable desktop and email categories as well as mobile alerts.
3. Android: allow YouTube in the operating system
- Open Android Settings.
- Go to Apps & notifications → YouTube → Notifications. Some Android versions display this as Settings → Apps → YouTube → Notifications.
- Turn on YouTube notifications and the relevant notification categories.
- Return to YouTube and confirm that the official channel’s bell is set to All notifications.
Android can disable an app’s notifications even when YouTube’s own settings are correct. Check this permission after an Android update, after reinstalling YouTube, or when alerts stop without any channel change.

4. iPhone or iPad: allow YouTube at both levels
- Open the device’s Settings app and find YouTube in the notification permissions.
- Allow notifications and choose the alert styles you want, such as Lock Screen, Notification Centre, or banners.
- Open YouTube’s in-app profile settings and review its notification categories.
- Return to the official VCT channel and verify that the bell still shows All notifications.
Apple changes the exact wording and location of notification controls between iOS and iPadOS releases. If a label differs, use the device Settings search for YouTube and Notifications, then verify the in-app YouTube setting separately.
5. Test the YouTube configuration
- Confirm the channel is still subscribed.
- Confirm the bell is set to All notifications, not Personalized.
- Confirm YouTube’s mobile, desktop, or email category is enabled for the destination you want.
- Confirm the operating system has not muted YouTube or placed it in a restricted notification mode.
- On desktop, confirm the browser is allowed to show YouTube notifications.
YouTube does not promise that every alert will appear on every enabled destination at exactly the same time. Enabling multiple routes gives you more than one way to see a live-start notification, but the channel bell and permission checks remain essential.
How to get VCT alerts on Twitch
1. Follow the official channel
- Open Twitch and locate the official VALORANT/VCT channel.
- Select Follow.
- Open the channel’s notification control, usually shown as a bell, or open Twitch’s notification settings.
Following creates the relationship Twitch uses for channel alerts. It does not automatically guarantee every notification type or every delivery route.

- Open Twitch’s Notifications Settings.
- Select Manage Channel Notifications, or use the bell on the official channel page.
- Set the VCT channel to Always if you want every channel notification.
- Choose Go Live Only if you only want an alert when the channel starts a live broadcast.
Twitch also offers Personalized and Off. Personalized can omit alerts using viewing history and other signals. Twitch Help says changing a channel to Always sends all notifications for that channel. Twitch’s December 11, 2025 blog describes Always as including every Go Live message, VOD update, and clip notification, for example.

Go Live Only is the focused choice for someone who wants match-start alerts without notifications for every VOD or clip. Always is the safer choice when you do not want Twitch’s personalization system to decide that a notification is unimportant.
3. Choose where Twitch can deliver alerts
- In Twitch notification settings, review the delivery routes for the channel.
- Enable Onsite notifications if you want alerts inside Twitch.
- Enable Push for phone notifications.
- Enable Email if you want messages sent to your account email.
Twitch requires a verified account email for email notifications. Mobile push also requires permission from the phone’s operating system. If either requirement is missing, the route can remain enabled in Twitch while no alert reaches you.
4. Mobile Twitch setup
- Open the Twitch app and select your profile icon.
- Go to Account Settings → Notifications → Manage Channel Notifications.
- Find the official VCT channel and choose Always or Go Live Only.
- Enable the delivery routes you want, including push if you want a phone alert.
You can also open the channel while it is live and use the bell or gear control described by Twitch. The exact control can vary with the current app version, so the Manage Channel Notifications page is the more consistent place to audit several followed channels.

Twitch’s Smart Delivery option selects what it considers the most relevant destination instead of sending the same alert to every enabled destination. For example, it may choose one route from onsite, push, and email. If you need a visible backup on more than one device, review Smart Delivery rather than assuming every enabled route will receive every message.

For the highest chance of seeing a VCT match start, use YouTube’s All notifications and Twitch’s Always, then enable at least one delivery route on a device you regularly check. If you prefer fewer messages, Twitch’s Go Live Only is more narrowly targeted than either platform’s personalized mode.

The channel is followed or subscribed, but the alert mode is wrong
A subscription on YouTube defaults to personalized alerts, and a Twitch follow does not by itself select Always or Go Live Only. Reopen the channel control and check the explicit mode. On YouTube, select All notifications. On Twitch, choose Always or Go Live Only instead of Personalized.
The platform setting is enabled, but the phone blocks it
Check the operating-system notification permission for YouTube or Twitch. Also inspect any system-level focus, quiet, battery-saving, or notification-summary feature that can delay or hide alerts. The platform cannot display a push alert that the operating system has denied.
Desktop pop-ups are missing
On YouTube, revisit Settings → Notifications and enable desktop notifications. Then check the browser’s site permission for YouTube and ensure the browser itself is allowed to show desktop notifications. A browser-level block takes precedence over YouTube’s account preference.

Twitch email alerts do not arrive
Confirm that the email address on the Twitch account is verified, then check the account’s email notification category and the mailbox’s spam or filtered folders. A verified address is a Twitch requirement for email delivery; merely entering an address is not enough.
Twitch push alerts stopped after a long break
Twitch says it may turn a channel notification off after 90 days without watching or interacting with that channel. Twitch also describes different treatment for channels that had fewer than 15 notifications in the previous 90 days. If a previously reliable VCT alert disappears, open Manage Channel Notifications and set the channel again rather than assuming the follow was removed.
You receive too many alerts
On YouTube, change the channel from All notifications to Personalized only if you accept that some live streams may be omitted. On Twitch, choose Go Live Only to keep match-start alerts while excluding VOD and clip notifications. You can also disable one delivery route, such as email, while leaving onsite or push enabled.
A dependable VCT alert checklist
- Identify the official VALORANT/VCT channel on YouTube, Twitch, or both.
- On YouTube, subscribe, set the bell to All notifications, and enable the desired mobile, desktop, and email categories.
- On Twitch, follow the channel and set Always for every channel alert or Go Live Only for live starts only.
- Allow YouTube or Twitch notifications in the phone’s operating system.
- Allow browser notifications if you rely on desktop pop-ups.
- Verify the Twitch email address before depending on email delivery.
- Review Twitch Smart Delivery if you expect the same alert on multiple destinations.
- Recheck both channel settings before a major stage, playoff, or international event, especially after a long period without watching.
The key distinction is between a channel preference and a delivery permission. YouTube’s bell or Twitch’s channel mode determines which events qualify; app, browser, email, and operating-system settings determine whether you can actually see the resulting alert.
