You can build up food, wood, fuel, and other resources in Last Shelter: Survival without buying packs: claim the rewards for Daily Tasks, keep available troops gathering at world-map resource points, and make use of an active alliance’s gifts and gathering benefits. Treat these as a steady routine, not a guaranteed yield or a way to progress at the same speed as paid play. Task lists, event rewards, and alliance benefits can vary or change, so check what your own game currently offers.
What “free resources” means in a free-to-play game
Last Shelter: Survival is a mobile strategy game focused on building a city, developing facilities and research, and participating in alliance warfare. Its official app listings describe the game as free to play with in-app purchases. Free access does not mean that every offer or progression system is free: paid subscriptions and other purchases may offer items such as diamonds, speed-ups, or resource alternatives. Those purchases are not no-spend methods.
For a no-spend routine, concentrate on rewards and activities available through the game itself. The practical sources supported here are Daily Tasks, troops gathering from world-map resource points, and alliance gifts or gathering benefits. The game’s store listings also refer to free rewards for active participation, but they do not establish a universal amount or guarantee a particular reward on a particular day.

That distinction matters when comparing advice. A paid bundle can change how quickly a city upgrades, but it does not tell a free player what to do with idle marches or unclaimed task chests. A no-spend plan is instead about converting normal play into several small opportunities: complete actions you already need, keep troops productive during downtime, and collect rewards your account is currently eligible to receive.

Build your routine around Daily Tasks
Daily Tasks can turn ordinary progress into claimable rewards. A community-maintained Last Shelter: Survival wiki lists examples including gathering resources, using resource items, conducting research, and defeating zombies. Its page says task points unlock reward chests. The live task screen is the authority for your account: use it to see which activities count, how many points they award, and what each chest currently contains.
Check the live task list before spending effort
- Open the Daily Tasks screen when you log in. Review the tasks and their displayed point values rather than relying on a remembered list.
- Prioritize tasks that overlap with what you already need to do. If gathering or research is both a task and part of your next upgrade plan, completing it can advance two goals at once.
- Before using a resource item or committing troops to an optional activity, check whether the task panel actually asks for it and whether the reward is worth that use.
- Claim each reward chest once its displayed point threshold is reached. Do not assume that points alone automatically add every reward to your inventory.
- Recheck the panel after completing an action; the client’s displayed progress and claim state tell you whether it counted.
The wiki reports chest thresholds of 30, 70, 120, 180, 260, 340, 420, and 500 points. These are secondary-source values, not independently confirmed current official data. Your client may display different thresholds or rewards; follow its current panel rather than treating the wiki’s list as a promise.
Use overlap instead of chasing every task
Not every listed action deserves equal priority. If you are already gathering for a facility upgrade, that march may satisfy a gathering task without an extra detour. If a research project is ready to begin and the task panel rewards research, starting it can progress the city and add points at the same time. Conversely, using a stored resource item only to gain points may be poor timing when that item is reserved for a major cost.

A task can require a particular kind of action, while a similar-looking activity may not register. After completing it, return to the panel and verify that the counter changed. This simple check prevents you from spending time or items on an assumption that the client never accepted.
Understand the reset as a timing cue, not a guarantee
The same community wiki says Daily Tasks begin at 00:00 server time. Server time may not match your local clock, and the source is not an official current schedule. Use the reset timer or task screen in your game to determine when your next cycle begins. If you are close to a reset, check whether an unfinished task or unclaimed chest is about to roll over before deciding what to do.
A reset is useful for planning, but it is not a reason to burn resources blindly. Finish actions that fit your city’s plan, claim any chest the live screen makes available, and leave optional spending alone when the reward does not justify the opportunity cost.

Keep troops gathering when they are not needed elsewhere
World-map resource points provide a repeatable way to collect resources without buying them. When troops are not required for a more urgent task, send an available force to gather. Choose the resource by your next concrete need—for example, the material holding up a facility upgrade or troop training—rather than sending every available march toward whichever node looks convenient.
Choose a node with the whole trip in mind
- Match the resource to a bottleneck. Look at the cost of the upgrade, research, or training you plan to do next, then gather the resource that is actually limiting it.
- Account for troop time. A march committed to gathering is not available for another task during that time. Consider its travel and return time as well as the time spent at the node.
- Consider risk and availability. Node availability and the risk of sending troops depend on the live map and game circumstances. Check the location before committing a march rather than assuming a particular node or route is always safe.
- Use downtime deliberately. If you are logging off or will not need a march for a while, gathering can make that idle period productive. If you expect to need troops soon, keep that opportunity cost in mind.
There is no need to send every march out at all times. Keep a force available if you expect an urgent task, and use the remaining capacity for gathering. When you return to the game, collect completed marches and redirect them toward the resource now blocking progress. This creates a loop of checking, gathering, collecting, and reassessing rather than a fixed route that may stop fitting your needs.
No current, universally applicable gathering rate or node-availability schedule is established here. Do not plan around a fixed amount per hour or assume one resource type will always be faster to collect. Use the figures, timers, and map options shown in your own client.
Compare the three core no-spend methods
These activities solve different problems, so a numerical ranking would be misleading. Use the following comparison when deciding what to do next:

Daily Tasks are usually the easiest place to start because they can reward actions you were going to perform anyway. Gathering is the most directly repeatable, but it occupies troops and depends on the live map. Alliance features can add value without replacing either method, yet they depend on an active group and on what your current alliance screens show. The available information does not establish a universal stamina cost or a current yield for any of these methods, so use the client’s own timers and descriptions.
Use an active alliance for gifts and gathering help
A community-maintained alliance overview says players can collect Alliance Gifts. A separate alliance-store page describes a Gather Bonus that increases base gathering speed by 50% for 24 hours, purchased with alliance currency. These pages establish useful mechanics to look for, but they are community-maintained and may not reflect the current version, your server, or your account’s access. Check the alliance screens in game for available gifts, costs, unlocks, and benefit details.

Make alliance participation part of the routine
- Join or remain in an alliance where members are active enough for the alliance features available to you to be useful.
- Check the alliance screen for collectable gifts and claim them when the client makes them available.
- Inspect the alliance store and alliance benefits or research for any gathering-related help. Confirm the current cost and duration before spending alliance currency.
- If a gathering bonus is available, consider activating it when you can keep troops gathering during its active period. A short-lived bonus is less useful if your troops will be idle or committed elsewhere.
Alliance activity is also a dependency to monitor. A gift or benefit that exists on a community page may not be unlocked for your alliance, may require a different amount of alliance currency, or may have been changed in a later version. Treat the description as a prompt to inspect the feature, not as a guaranteed entitlement.
The wiki’s cited Gather Bonus figure is a 50% increase to base gathering speed for 24 hours, bought with alliance currency. Do not assume it is unlocked, available, or unchanged in every alliance or current game version; verify its description and terms in your own store before planning around it.
Handle events by reading the reward preview first
Events may offer another route to in-game rewards, but the available evidence does not establish a current universal event calendar, a fixed reward yield, or eligibility by level, server, and region. An old player-written event guide is historical context, not a reliable basis for current schedules or mechanics. Use the live event screen, rules, and reward preview as your source of truth.

Before committing resources to an event
- Read the current rules and check which actions or items actually score.
- Review the reward preview and any displayed eligibility requirements before deciding whether to participate.
- Compare the likely in-game cost of your planned action with the reward you can realistically claim. Do not spend scarce resources just because an event is visible.
- If the event asks you to save or use resources, account for the upgrades, research, or training you would delay by doing so.
- Recheck the event screen for deadlines and claim requirements; do not rely on a calendar or guide from another date or server.
Events should complement your routine, not replace it. If an event rewards gathering, your normal marches may satisfy both goals. If it rewards spending a resource, first decide whether delaying your planned upgrade is acceptable. When the answer is no, continue with the upgrade and skip the event action rather than treating a visible reward track as automatically profitable.
Spend resources in a way that prevents avoidable shortages
Free collection works best when it is directed at an upcoming need. Before spending a large stockpile, identify the next facility, research, or training cost you intend to meet. Then use Daily Tasks and gathering to replenish the resource that is short. This avoids scattering effort across materials that are not holding up progress.
Resource items deserve the same scrutiny. The Daily Tasks wiki lists using resource items as an example task, but that does not make every item use worthwhile. Check whether the task is present, its point value, and the item’s contribution before consuming a stored item. If using it would leave you short for a more important planned cost, compare that trade-off with the chest reward rather than assuming task completion is automatically beneficial.

A simple priority check helps: identify the next cost, identify the resource that fails to meet it, and direct the next available march toward that resource. Revisit the decision after collecting a march or completing a task because your bottleneck may change. This is more reliable than maintaining a permanent order such as “always gather food first,” since the game does not provide a universal priority that fits every account.

If your goal is to spend nothing, skip paid bundles and subscriptions and base decisions on the free actions and rewards shown in your client.
Troubleshoot when the routine is not producing what you expect
- A task does not appear to count: Reopen the Daily Tasks panel and check its wording and progress indicator. A similar action may not satisfy the exact task, or its progress may not have updated yet.
- A chest is not claimable: Check the displayed point threshold and whether the points have registered. The wiki’s thresholds may not match your current task panel.
- You cannot find a listed task or benefit: Use the features available in your client. Community pages can become outdated, and availability may differ by account or game state.
- Your gather bonus is missing or has different terms: Read the current alliance-store entry and benefit description. The wiki-reported 50% for 24 hours is not a guarantee that the same offer is available to you.
- An event reward or schedule differs from a guide: Follow the live event rules and reward preview. Older player guides do not establish current event timing or eligibility.
- One resource keeps running short: Check your next planned cost, then redirect future gathering toward that specific bottleneck instead of assuming a universal resource priority.
- A march is unavailable when you need it: Review whether it is traveling to, gathering at, or returning from a node. Troop time is part of the cost of gathering, so leave a march free when an urgent objective is imminent.
- You received a reward but cannot find the expected item: Reopen the relevant task, alliance, or event screen and inspect its claim state and reward description. Displayed rewards and automatic inventory behavior can differ by feature.

- At login, review the Daily Tasks panel and choose actions that also advance your normal plans.
- Claim task chests when their live thresholds are met.
- Send troops to a suitable world-map resource point when they are free, prioritizing the resource you need next.
- Check your alliance for collectable gifts and current gathering benefits.
- Before acting for an event, read its current rules, reward preview, and eligibility details.
- Use the game’s own timers and screens for reset times, costs, availability, and rewards.
- Do not count purchases, subscriptions, or paid bundles as part of a free-resource plan.
This routine makes use of repeatable in-game opportunities, but the available sources do not establish a guaranteed daily total or a universal progression rate for no-spend players. Your results depend on what your current client makes available and how you allocate troop time and resources.
