Earn Xbox Rewards points by completing eligible quests in the Rewards with Xbox hub, making qualifying purchases when your account and region are eligible, and using other Microsoft Rewards activities. To spend points, sign in to the Microsoft Rewards dashboard, check the rewards currently offered for your account and region, and follow the redemption instructions. Quests, purchase terms, and reward catalogs can change, so the live hub and dashboard—not a fixed online points chart—are the reliable guides.

What Xbox Rewards points are—and how they work

Rewards with Xbox is part of Microsoft Rewards. Points earned through eligible Xbox activities and other Microsoft Rewards activities accrue to the Microsoft account you use for the program. You can review available Xbox activities in the Rewards with Xbox hub and see redemption options on the signed-in Microsoft Rewards dashboard.

Points are not cash, and Microsoft says they “don’t have any cash value.” There is no universal points-to-dollar conversion: the points required, rewards available, and terms depend on the reward and the market shown to your account. Treat the catalog in your account as the authority rather than assuming that an offer described for another country will be available to you. Microsoft’s earning overview and redemption help explain the program’s variable terms.

Ways to earn Xbox Rewards points

The two Xbox-focused routes are completing quests and, where supported, making eligible Xbox Store purchases. You can also add points through other Microsoft Rewards activities, such as Bing searches and changing activities on the Rewards earn page. Available activities, point amounts, limits, and terms depend on the account and region. Microsoft’s earning help describes these routes; Xbox lists current Xbox activities in its Rewards hub.

Complete quests in the Xbox Rewards hub

  1. Sign in to the supported Xbox experience using the Microsoft account enrolled in Rewards.
  2. Open the Rewards with Xbox hub and review the quests shown for that account. Xbox describes daily, weekly, monthly, and limited-time activities, but the particular list is not a guaranteed schedule.
  3. Open a quest and read its current requirements, eligibility, any minimum play requirement, and deadline before starting. Those details may differ by quest and can change.
  4. Complete the activity as described, then claim the points in the hub if the quest requires you to claim them. Do not assume that simply playing automatically adds every quest’s points.
  5. Check the Rewards dashboard for your account balance if you want to confirm that the points were credited.

There is no reliable fixed daily earning promise: the available tasks, point values, and rules are the live offer, not a permanent chart. Follow the on-screen quest details and claim deadlines. Xbox’s current Rewards page describes the quest categories and directs members to the hub for available activities.

Earn from eligible Xbox Store purchases

Xbox describes earning points on eligible games and add-ons, and Microsoft lists Store purchases among the broader earning routes. This does not mean every Xbox purchase earns points: Microsoft explicitly notes that Xbox purchases may not earn in all countries or regions. Eligibility can also depend on the current offer, product, account tier, and applicable terms. Check those details before spending. Microsoft’s earning guidance notes regional variation, while the Xbox Rewards page describes current purchase benefits.

If you are considering a purchase only to earn points, compare the amount you would spend with the reward you actually want and the points credited under the offer shown to you. Since points have no cash value and not all purchases qualify, a points offer alone does not establish that buying something is worthwhile.

How Game Pass can affect Xbox earning

Xbox advertises exclusive quests for Game Pass Premium and Ultimate members and higher purchase multipliers for some tiers. These are benefits described on Xbox’s current Rewards page, not a guarantee that every purchase qualifies or that a particular number of points will be earned. Read the account-specific offer and product terms before relying on a multiplier. The page does not provide a universal forecast that applies to every member or transaction. See Xbox’s current tier and Rewards information.

Optional Microsoft Rewards activities outside Xbox

Points earned through other Microsoft Rewards activities contribute to the same Rewards balance. Depending on your market and account, activities can include Bing searches, Microsoft Store shopping, and rotating earn-page tasks such as quizzes or trivia. Daily limits and terms vary by country and region, so use the activities and limits displayed on your own Rewards page rather than applying another market’s schedule. Microsoft’s earning help describes these options.

How to redeem Xbox Rewards points

  1. Sign in to the correct account. Open the Microsoft Rewards dashboard with the Microsoft account that holds the points. You can also start from the Xbox Rewards hub, which connects members to Rewards.
  2. Browse your live catalog. Review rewards actually offered to your account and region. Offers differ by country, and a gift card may temporarily be unavailable; Microsoft says it cannot predict when a particular gift card will return. Check Microsoft’s redemption help.
  3. Read the reward details before ordering. Confirm the denomination, region, delivery method, and terms. Microsoft says Rewards orders are generally final and cannot be canceled or exchanged for a points refund, except for limited exceptions and as required by applicable law. See the Rewards refund and exchange policy.
  4. Complete any requested verification. Use a working mobile or landline number if Microsoft asks for phone verification; VoIP numbers are not allowed. Redeem in the region where your account was registered, not while traveling in another market or using a VPN or proxy to disguise your location. Microsoft’s redemption help and program guidance cover these restrictions.
  5. Save or locate the result. If your reward arrives as a code or link, check Order History for its order details. Microsoft and Xbox gift cards redeemed through Rewards are deposited directly as promotional balance into the Microsoft account. Microsoft’s redemption help explains delivery and account credit.

Choose a reward by its actual terms

Catalog options are not identical across regions, so compare the entries visible to your account rather than relying on a list from another country. Before redeeming, weigh the points required against how useful the reward is to you, whether delivery is a code or direct account credit, and any region or product restrictions. A Rewards order is generally not reversible under Microsoft’s policy, so verify the selection before confirming it. Microsoft’s redemption help covers availability, and its refund and exchange policy sets out the general final-sale rule.

Xbox gift cards and Microsoft account balance

An Xbox or Microsoft gift card may be one of the rewards offered to you, but availability is not guaranteed. Microsoft notes that some gift cards are not always available through Rewards and advises members to check the catalog. A code redeemed through Rewards is deposited as promotional balance in the Microsoft account rather than paid out as cash. Microsoft’s redemption help describes availability and account credit.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Microsoft account balance can be used for eligible purchases at participating Microsoft stores, including Xbox, subject to the applicable region, currency, and product restrictions. It is not cash and cannot be used for some excluded products or services. Gift card terms also apply, so check the terms for your country and the item you intend to buy before redeeming a code or relying on balance for a purchase. See Microsoft gift card terms, how to redeem a gift card or code, and where Microsoft account balance can be spent.

Levels, point expiry, and account rules

Level 2 threshold

Xbox’s Rewards page says members need to earn 500 Microsoft Rewards points per month to earn and keep Level 2 status, and that points earned through any method count toward the monthly threshold. This is the program threshold stated on Xbox’s page, not a promise of how many points a particular Xbox quest or purchase will yield. Check the current Xbox Rewards page for its advertised tier benefits.

When do Xbox Rewards points expire?

Microsoft’s current earning and redemption help says points expire after 12 months without earning or redeeming. To keep an account active, earn or redeem at least once within that period; do not assume that merely checking the balance counts as activity. Refer to Microsoft’s earning help and redemption help for the current rule.

Use one accurate account and your real region

Use your own Microsoft account information and comply with program rules. Microsoft warns against bots, macros, multiple accounts, location-masking services, and attempts to earn or redeem across markets contrary to policy; those behaviors can lead to account suspension or points being invalidated. Redeem in the region where the account was registered and do not use a VPN or proxy to conceal location. Microsoft’s Rewards guidance explains conduct expectations, while its redemption help addresses region requirements.

Troubleshooting common Rewards problems

A quest or offer is missing

  • Make sure you are signed in to the account you use for Rewards, then check the live Xbox Rewards hub. Quests and limited-time offers are not a universal fixed list. Xbox Rewards hub
  • Review your account’s tier, market, and the specific offer terms. Game Pass quests or purchase multipliers advertised for some tiers do not make every activity eligible. Xbox Rewards information
  • If you expected points for a purchase, check whether the product and transaction qualify in your country or region. Microsoft explicitly warns that Xbox purchases may not earn everywhere. Microsoft earning help

You completed a quest but do not see points

  • Reopen the quest details and verify every requirement, including any minimum play amount and claim step.
  • If the activity asks you to claim points in the hub, do that before any displayed deadline; completing the task and claiming may be separate steps.
  • Check that the Xbox experience and Rewards dashboard use the same Microsoft account, then review the balance again. Xbox directs members to the hub for current quest completion and claiming details. Xbox Rewards hub

A reward is unavailable or redemption is blocked

  • If a gift card is absent, it may not be offered in your market or may be temporarily unavailable. Microsoft does not promise when an unavailable gift card will return. Microsoft redemption help
  • Confirm that you are redeeming in the region where your account was registered. Do not try to work around regional restrictions by traveling-market redemption or disguising your location with a VPN or proxy.
  • If verification is requested, use a mobile or landline number, not VoIP. Microsoft says a phone number may be associated with a maximum of six Rewards accounts per household; this is a verification troubleshooting limit, not advice to create multiple accounts. Microsoft redemption help
  • If verification fails, Microsoft says you may need to wait before trying again. Check the on-screen instructions rather than repeatedly submitting requests. Microsoft redemption help

You need a redeemed code or order details

Open Order History in the Microsoft account used for the redemption and review the order details for a code or link. For an Xbox or Microsoft gift card redeemed through Rewards, check the Microsoft account balance because the value is deposited directly as promotional balance. Microsoft’s redemption help

A practical way to manage Xbox Rewards

  1. Use the Rewards with Xbox hub to check the activities and eligibility currently shown to your account.
  2. Complete quests you actually want to do, and claim points where the activity requires it.
  3. Check a purchase offer’s product, tier, and regional terms before spending; do not count on points from an unverified transaction.
  4. When you have enough points for something useful, compare the rewards visible in your own catalog and review the terms before placing a generally final order.
  5. Earn or redeem at least once within each 12-month period to avoid the stated inactivity expiry rule.

For a current answer on any specific quest, purchase, or gift card, rely on the offer and terms displayed to your signed-in account: those are the details that determine whether it is available to you.
