Samsung does not currently provide a general public page where you enter a Galaxy model and download the complete Odin firmware package. Samsung’s support site is primarily organized around device support, manuals, and downloads for documentation. The full firmware packages are retrieved from Samsung’s Firmware Update Server (FUS) through tools such as Frija, Samloader, and Bifrost.
These tools download firmware; they do not install it. If you plan to flash the files, you will need a separate utility such as Odin and must use firmware that matches the phone’s exact model and compatible CSC.
Before downloading: identify the exact phone
Do not rely only on the commercial name. “Galaxy S22,” for example, covers multiple model numbers, regional variants, processors, and carrier configurations. A firmware package for the wrong model can fail to install or create a more serious recovery problem.

Method 1: download with Frija on Windows
Frija is the simplest option if you have a Windows 10 or Windows 11 computer. The current release reported in the April 8, 2026 documentation is Frija v2.0.23364.3, distributed as Frija_v2.0.23364.3.zip. That documentation marks Frija v1.4.4 as deprecated.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesInstall the required Windows runtime
Frija requires the x86 Microsoft .NET Core 3.1 Desktop Runtime v3.1.21. This is specified even for 64-bit Windows. Install the runtime, restart Windows, and then continue with Frija.
Download the Frija ZIP from a reputable source, extract it to a normal folder, and run Frija.exe. Avoid running the executable directly from inside the compressed ZIP.
Use Frija’s manual mode
- Launch
Frija.exe. Manual mode is the default interface. - Enter the phone’s exact value in Model.
- Enter the three-letter regional or service code in CSC.
- Enter the device IMEI in IMEI.
- Click Check Update.
- When Frija displays firmware information, click Download.
- Choose a destination folder.
- Leave the generated filename unchanged and click OK.
A successful transfer displays Firmware downloaded successfully. The result is normally a ZIP file. Extract it after the download completes.
The extracted firmware contains Odin-compatible files similar to these:

Use Frija’s Auto mode
Frija also has an Auto mode, but it requires Samsung USB drivers and a connected phone. Enable USB debugging, connect the device by USB, and allow any authorization prompt shown on the phone. Frija can then detect the model, CSC, and firmware information. Click Check Update, followed by Download.
If Auto mode does not identify the phone, use Manual mode instead. A correctly entered model, CSC, and IMEI is usually more reliable than trying to troubleshoot device detection.
Frija settings
Open the three-dot menu in the top-left corner and choose Settings. Documented options include Night Mode, CRC Check, and Binary Nature. Leave settings at their defaults unless you have a specific reason to change them.
Method 2: use Samloader from Windows, macOS, Linux, or Android
Samloader is a Python command-line client. It is useful when you want a repeatable download process, are working without a graphical desktop, or are not using Windows. It retrieves encrypted firmware from Samsung FUS and can decrypt it into the Odin package.
Install Samloader
Run:
pip3 install git+https://github.com/nlscc/samloader.git
On some systems, pip3 may need to be replaced with the Python installation command used by that system. Confirm that the installation completes before trying the Samloader commands.
Check the latest available firmware
Replace MODEL and CSC with your values:
samloader -m MODEL -r CSC checkupdate
Example:
samloader -m SM-N975F -r INS checkupdate
The command returns the latest firmware version Samsung’s server makes available for that model and region.
Download a specific version
Use the complete firmware version returned by the update check:
samloader -m MODEL -r CSC download -v FIRMWARE_VERSION -O OUTPUT_DIRECTORY
Example on macOS or Linux:
samloader -m SM-N975F -r INS download -v N975FXXU6DTJ4/N975FOXM6DTJ4/N975FXXU6DTJ2/N975FXXU6DTJ4 -O /Users/USERNAME/Desktop/
Example in Windows PowerShell:
samloader -m SM-N975F -r INS download -v N975FXXU6DTJ4/N975FOXM6DTJ4/N975FXXU6DTJ2/N975FXXU6DTJ4 -O C:UsersUSERNAMEDesktop
Samloader commonly downloads an encrypted file ending in .zip.enc4. That file is not yet the ordinary ZIP containing the BL, AP, CP, and CSC files.

Decrypt an enc4 package
Run:
samloader -m MODEL -r CSC decrypt -v FIRMWARE_VERSION -V 4 -i ENCRYPTED_FILE -o DECRYPTED_ZIP
Using the example version above:
samloader -m SM-N975F -r INS decrypt -v N975FXXU6DTJ4/N975FOXM6DTJ4/N975FXXU6DTJ2/N975FXXU6DTJ4 -V 4 -i SM-N975F_1_20201016232934_i2b0cuyqhv_fac.zip.enc4 -o SM-N975F_1_20201016232934_i2b0cuyqhv_fac.zip
For an older package ending in .enc2, use -V 2 instead of -V 4. After decryption, extract the resulting ZIP. The flashable files have .tar.md5 extensions.
Method 3: download on Android with Bifrost
Bifrost is a graphical client based on Samloader and is documented for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android. It is the practical choice when the only computer available is the Galaxy device itself.
Version information for Bifrost’s Android releases is inconsistent in the available documentation: one section identifies Android APK version 2.1.2, while another separately refers to 1.20.1 as the latest version. Because those references conflict, verify the release number and download source before installing an APK.
Bifrost Android download steps
- Enter the device’s full model number.
- Enter the three-letter CSC. Use the three-horizontal-lines icon beside the CSC field to search by CSC or country if needed.
- Leave Firmware empty if you want the latest available build.
- Edit the IMEI/Serial field and enter one IMEI from the device.
- Tap the Refresh icon beside the download icon.
- Tap the Download icon.
- Choose Create New Folder.
- Name the folder and tap OK.
- Tap Use This Folder, then tap Allow when Android requests storage permission.
Bifrost automatically decrypts the firmware after downloading. In its file manager, select CP, AP, CSC, Home_CSC, and BL, then tap Extract.
Bifrost may operate without an IMEI, but the documented test produced CRC check failed in that situation. Entering one IMEI from the device is the recommended procedure for avoiding that particular failure.
What to check before flashing
- Confirm the model: the model in the firmware name must match the phone’s model exactly.
- Check the CSC: use a compatible regional or carrier package. A CSC is not simply the same thing as the country where you currently are.
- Check the bootloader binary: firmware revisions generally cannot be downgraded to a package with a lower bootloader binary. Compare the binary portion of the build numbers before attempting an older release.
- Back up the device: flashing can fail, and using the regular CSC file commonly performs a factory reset. Treat the data as at risk even when you intend to use
HOME_CSC. - Keep both download and extraction space available: Samsung packages can occupy several gigabytes, and extraction temporarily requires space for both the original archive and its contents.
- Do not interrupt the download: use a stable internet connection and do not close the downloader while it is retrieving a large package.
Downloading the package does not put the phone into Download Mode and does not change its software. Flashing is a separate procedure with separate risks.
Fix common download errors
| Problem | Likely cause | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| No firmware found or firmware information not found | Incorrect model or CSC, an unsupported device, or no publicly available FUS package for that combination | Recheck the values using *#1234# and the Software information screen. Do not substitute a similar-looking model. |
| Frija Error 102 | Incorrect model, CSC, or IMEI details | Re-enter all three values manually and check for missing suffixes or spaces. |
| Frija will not start | Missing or incorrectly installed .NET Desktop Runtime | Install the documented x86 .NET Core 3.1 Desktop Runtime v3.1.21, restart Windows, and launch Frija again. |
| Auto mode cannot detect the phone | Missing Samsung USB drivers, a bad cable, or no USB debugging authorization | Install the drivers, reconnect the unlocked phone, approve the USB debugging prompt, or use Manual mode. |
| Frija cannot connect or the transfer stops | Firewall or antivirus interference, or an unstable connection | Temporarily review the security software’s blocked-app list and retry on a stable connection. Re-enable protection afterward. |
samloader is not recognized in PowerShell |
Samloader was not installed correctly or its executable is not on the command path | Repeat the installation, verify the Python environment being used, and reopen the terminal. |
Microsoft Visual C++ 14.0 is required |
Missing Windows C++ build tools during installation | Install the required Microsoft Visual C++ build tools, then rerun the Samloader installation. |
Bifrost reports CRC check failed |
The IMEI was omitted in the tested workflow | Enter one IMEI from the device, refresh the firmware information, and retry. |
Why you may see an encrypted file instead of a ZIP
Samsung FUS downloads are not always plain ZIP archives. Samloader may save a file ending in .zip.enc4, while older packages can use .zip.enc2. The encryption layer must be removed with Samloader’s decrypt command before the archive can be extracted. Bifrost performs this decryption automatically; Frija normally presents the completed firmware ZIP after its download process.
Do not try to flash the encrypted file directly. Odin expects the extracted firmware components, normally the .tar.md5 files.

Should you use SamFirm?
SamFirm should not be treated as the primary recommendation here. Current pages give conflicting descriptions: one describes the original project as outdated, while another advertises SamFirm v0.5.0 with an Auto/Model/Region/IMEI workflow. It may work in some environments, but Frija, Samloader, and Bifrost have clearer current procedures in the documentation used for this guide.
FAQ
Is there an official Samsung page for downloading full Odin firmware?
Samsung’s public support navigation currently focuses on device support, manuals, and related downloads. It does not expose a general consumer workflow for downloading complete Odin-style firmware packages. Tools such as Frija, Samloader, and Bifrost retrieve those packages from Samsung’s Firmware Update Server.
Does Frija flash Samsung firmware?
No. Frija downloads the firmware package from Samsung FUS. Installing it requires a separate flashing tool such as Odin.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Can I download Samsung firmware without an IMEI?
Some tools may work without one, but IMEI requirements vary. Frija’s documented manual fields include an IMEI, and Bifrost documentation reports a CRC check failure during a no-IMEI test. Using one IMEI from the target device is the safer documented workflow.
What is the difference between CSC and HOME_CSC?
Both are regional configuration files. The regular CSC file commonly triggers a data wipe during flashing, while HOME_CSC is intended to preserve user data where supported. Back up first because no data-preservation option is guaranteed if flashing fails.
Why did Samloader download a .zip.enc4 file?
Samsung FUS can deliver encrypted firmware archives. Use Samloader’s decrypt command with -V 4 for an enc4 package, or -V 2 for an enc2 package, then extract the resulting ZIP.
How much free storage do I need?
Samsung firmware packages can be several gigabytes. Keep enough room for the encrypted or downloaded archive and the extracted BL, AP, CP, and CSC files at the same time.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →The Bottom Line
For a Windows PC, use Frija in Manual mode with the exact model, CSC, and IMEI. For a terminal-based or cross-platform workflow, use Samloader to check, download, decrypt, and extract the package. On Android, Bifrost provides a graphical alternative and can decrypt the download automatically.
Whichever method you choose, verify the model and CSC before downloading, keep a backup, and remember that obtaining the firmware is not the same as flashing it.
