The Nekome: Nazi Hunter demo is a separate, free Steam app for Windows. During Steam Next Fest, open the game’s Steam store page, choose the demo download option, install the entry named Nekome: Nazi Hunter Demo, and launch it from your Library. The demo centers on the 25-stage Horde of the Reich survival mode.
What the Nekome demo is
Nekome: Nazi Hunter has a standalone demo rather than a trial embedded in the unreleased full game. Steam identifies that demo as App 4859720. It is listed as free and currently has a Windows platform designation. Installing or launching the full game’s store listing alone will not install the demo; you must use the separate demo option when Steam makes it available.
The demo is built around Horde of the Reich, an extra mode in which you survive 25 increasingly brutal stages while chasing a high score. The announced feature set includes stealth, brawling, gunplay, unlockable skills and improvised weapons. It is therefore a focused arcade-style slice of the game rather than access to the complete campaign.

“Play the Nekome: Nazi Hunter demo FREE on Steam from October 19–26 during Steam Next Fest.”
— Steam Community Announcement, October 2026
What to do before downloading
- Install the current Steam client on a Windows PC and sign in to the account that will play the demo.
- Plan to check during the announced Next Fest period, beginning at 17:00 UTC on October 19, rather than relying on an earlier listing.
- Search for the exact title Nekome: Nazi Hunter. Similar-looking Neko or N.E.K.O. titles are different products.
- Keep enough free disk space for Steam to complete an installation. The available sources do not publish a storage figure, so use the requirement shown on the live Steam page if one appears.
- Confirm that your system is running Windows. The current demo metadata does not list macOS, Linux or consoles.
How to download the demo in Steam
- Open Steam during the availability window. Start the Steam desktop client and sign in. If Steam is already running, allow it to finish any pending client update before searching.
- Find the game’s store page. Use Steam’s search field and enter Nekome: Nazi Hunter. Select the result with that exact name, not another game containing “Neko” or a similarly styled title.
- Look for the demo control. On the game’s store page, locate the option to download or add the demo. This control is expected to become active when the scheduled release and event window begin. Before then, the page can show only the main game’s information or a wishlist option.
- Start the installation. Select the demo download option and accept Steam’s installation prompts. Steam treats the demo as its own app and adds a separate Library entry rather than converting the full-game listing into a demo.
- Choose an installation location. Pick the Steam library drive you want to use, review the displayed space estimate, and confirm. Because an official size is not published in the available metadata, rely on the figure Steam presents in this dialog.
- Wait for the download to finish. Open Steam’s Downloads view to watch progress. Do not launch until Steam reports that the demo is installed; a partially downloaded entry may not start correctly.
If the demo option is missing after the announced start time, first confirm the date and time in your local timezone, then restart Steam and revisit the store page. Search results can show the full game without immediately surfacing its separate demo, so opening the game’s page directly is the more reliable route.
How to launch and play it
- Open the Library tab in Steam after installation completes.
- Use the Library search box and select Nekome: Nazi Hunter Demo. Check the title carefully so you do not launch a different game or the unreleased full-game listing.
- Click Play. Steam will perform any first-run preparation it requires and then open the demo.
- Choose the available Horde of the Reich mode from the demo’s menus. The announced objective is to survive all 25 stages and pursue a high score.
- Experiment with the announced play styles: stealth, close-quarters brawling, gunplay, unlockable skills and improvised weapons. The demo description does not publish a fixed control map, so use the in-game settings or tutorial prompts for the controls shown on your installation.
To return later, launch the same Library entry. You do not need to search for the store page each time once the separate demo app is installed.

What is included in Horde of the Reich
Twenty-five escalating stages
The mode is structured around 25 stages that become increasingly brutal. The stated goal is survival and score chasing, so a run is measured by how far you progress and how effectively you handle the escalating encounters.
Multiple approaches to encounters
The announcement identifies stealth, brawling and gunplay as supported approaches. That gives you more than one way to handle a situation: avoid detection, fight at close range or use firearms when appropriate. The description does not establish a required order or guarantee that every approach is optimal in every stage.
Progression and improvised equipment
Unlockable skills provide a progression layer within the mode, while improvised weapons expand the equipment choices described for the demo. Exact skill trees, weapon statistics and unlock conditions have not been published in the available Steam information, so consult the in-game menus for the values and requirements shown in your build.

High-score focus
Horde of the Reich is presented as a high-score challenge. If you are comparing attempts, record the stage reached and score shown by the game rather than assuming that a single completed run represents the entire demo experience.
Windows support and hardware requirements
The current Steam app metadata lists Windows as the supported platform. It does not publish exact minimum or recommended CPU, GPU, memory or storage requirements for the demo in the available information. Do not treat a requirement from another game, an older announcement or an unofficial listing as a Nekome specification.
When the demo page is live, check its System Requirements section for the developer’s current figures. If Steam later adds requirements, compare them with your Windows PC before installing. If no figures appear, the safest preparation is to keep Windows and graphics drivers current and allow Steam to complete its normal first-run setup; those steps do not substitute for an official hardware specification.

Availability after Steam Next Fest
The announced free-play period is October 19–26, 2026. The available information confirms that window but does not promise how the demo will be distributed afterward. It may remain listed, be replaced by a later build or become unavailable when the event ends. If you want to play during the confirmed period, download it before the event closes instead of assuming that a later listing is guaranteed.
Wishlisting the main game is separate from downloading the demo. The full game is planned for Q1 2027 and is not currently available on Steam, so a wishlist entry does not provide access to Horde of the Reich.
Steam Family Sharing limitation
SteamDB records that the demo is excluded from Steam Family Sharing. In practical terms, installing the demo on one account does not make it available through another account’s shared library under that feature. Each player who wants to use the demo should check the demo’s availability on their own Steam account during the event.

Troubleshooting the most likely problems
The demo button is not visible
- Check whether it is still before October 19, 2026 at 17:00 UTC. The listing is scheduled, not permanently available ahead of that time.
- Confirm that you opened the store page for Nekome: Nazi Hunter, not a similarly named title.
- Restart Steam, let it synchronize, search again and open the page from the exact-title result.
- If the event has ended, the announced October 19–26 window may have closed; the available information does not guarantee a later download period.
Steam shows the game but not a separate Library entry
The demo is a separate app. Return to the store page and use its demo download control rather than pressing a button that only adds the unreleased full game to your wishlist. Once installation begins, look in Library for Nekome: Nazi Hunter Demo, not just the main title.
The download is stuck or fails
- Open Steam’s Downloads page and see whether another update is using the connection.
- Pause and resume the demo download.
- Verify that the selected Steam library drive has the free space shown by Steam’s installation dialog.
- Restart the Steam client and retry the installation.
These steps address the Steam client process; they do not establish a missing hardware requirement. If the live store page later lists a minimum specification your PC does not meet, the limitation is system compatibility rather than the download itself.
The demo installs but will not start
- Confirm that you are launching the separate demo entry and that Steam reports the installation as complete.
- Restart Steam and try again after any client or game update finishes.
- Check the live store page for newly published Windows requirements or developer troubleshooting notes.
- If you are using a non-Windows system, note that the current metadata does not list it as supported.
You cannot see the demo through Family Sharing
That behavior is expected: the demo is recorded as excluded from Steam Family Sharing. Use the Steam account that obtains the demo directly rather than relying on a shared library.

How to identify the correct listing
The exact name is Nekome: Nazi Hunter, and the downloadable entry is named Nekome: Nazi Hunter Demo. The app number associated with the demo is 4859720. These identifiers help distinguish it from unrelated games with “Neko” or “N.E.K.O.” in their titles. If a page does not show the Nekome: Nazi Hunter name or leads only to a different product, back out and search again.
Download checklist
- Windows PC with Steam installed and an account signed in.
- Steam Next Fest availability checked for October 19–26, 2026.
- Exact store title verified: Nekome: Nazi Hunter.
- Demo download option selected on the store page.
- Separate Library entry installed: Nekome: Nazi Hunter Demo.
- Horde of the Reich launched from Library after installation.
- Official system requirements checked on the live page if Steam publishes them.
What you can and cannot expect
You can expect a free, Windows-listed Steam app focused on a 25-stage Horde of the Reich mode with stealth, brawling, gunplay, unlockable skills, improvised weapons and high-score play. You should not expect the full Nekome: Nazi Hunter release: that game is planned for Q1 2027 and is not currently available. You also should not assume that the demo will remain downloadable after October 26, 2026 or that it can be accessed through Family Sharing, because neither is established by the current listing.
