If you previously bought a digital PlayStation game, start in the account’s Game Library, not by searching the PlayStation Store. On PS5, open Games home > Game Library > Your Collection; on PS4, open Library > Purchased. Select the title and choose Download. You can also use the online library or PlayStation App for a linked console.
If the game is missing or shows a padlock, confirm the purchasing account and transaction, check whether the title is hidden or came from PlayStation Plus, verify console-sharing settings, and restore licenses. A delisting does not guarantee that every account can download a title forever: availability can depend on the game’s license, region and entitlement history.
What “delisted” means for a game you bought
A delisted game has been removed from new sale or from Store search. That is different from deleting the purchase entitlement from every account. For many titles, the practical recovery path is the library attached to the account that obtained the game.
There are three situations that look similar on the console but have different rules:

A game that was downloaded years ago, claimed through Plus, or shared by a family member is not automatically an outright purchase on your own account. Identify the entitlement before changing settings or contacting support.
Download the game from your PlayStation library
PS5: use Your Collection
- Sign in to the PS5 user profile that bought the game or holds the applicable entitlement.
- From the Games home screen, select Game Library.
- Open Your Collection. This library is the first place to look for a purchased title that no longer appears in Store search.
- Find the delisted game. Use the library’s filters or search if the collection is large.
- Select the game and choose Download. If both PS4 and PS5 versions are listed, select the edition you own or want to install.
- Wait for the download to enter the queue, then check its progress from Downloads/Uploads. Keep the console connected to the internet until the installation completes.
If the game is listed but the Download button is unavailable, do not buy it again from a third-party listing. First work through the account, entitlement and license checks below.
PS4: use Purchased
- Sign in to the account used for the original purchase.
- Open Library from the PS4 home screen.
- Select Purchased.
- Locate the delisted title and select it.
- Choose Download and monitor the notification/download queue.
The PS4 library can contain titles that no longer have an active Store product page. A missing Store search result alone does not establish that your account lost the game.

- Sign in to the PlayStation account associated with the purchase.
- Select your avatar, then choose Game Library.
- Open Purchased.
- Select the game and choose the download option for a linked console when it is offered.
This route is useful when the console interface is filtering the library incorrectly or when you want to queue a download remotely. The destination console must be linked to the same account and have the normal remote-download requirements enabled.
PlayStation App
In the PlayStation App, open Game Library > Purchased, select the title and use Download to Console for a linked PS5 or PS4. If the game does not appear here either, continue with the entitlement checks rather than repeatedly searching the Store.

Verify the account and the original transaction
The most common reason a supposedly owned game is absent is that the console is signed in to a different account. Email addresses, family profiles and regional accounts can make this easy to miss.
- Check the account currently signed in on the console, web library or App.
- Sign in to each plausible PlayStation account only if you are authorized to do so, and inspect its transaction history.
- Look for a completed purchase for the exact game, edition and region. A cancelled, failed or refunded transaction does not establish a current download entitlement.
- Compare the transaction date and product name with the game you remember owning. Add-ons, trials, demos and Plus claims can have names similar to the full game.
If another person bought the game, it belongs to that person’s account. Your profile may be able to launch it through sharing, but the purchase will not necessarily appear in your own Purchased list. Ask the owner to sign in and confirm the transaction before treating the title as missing.
Check whether the game is hidden
PlayStation allows games to be hidden from library views. A hidden game is hidden in the libraries of all consoles using that account, so checking only one PS5 or PS4 will not reveal it.
- Open the account’s game-library management or hidden-items view on the console or account interface.
- Find the delisted title.
- Choose the option to unhide or show the game.
- Return to Your Collection on PS5 or Purchased on PS4 and try the download again.
Do not confuse a hidden item with an absent entitlement. If the title is not in the hidden list and there is no matching transaction, the account may never have owned the full game.
Determine whether it came from PlayStation Plus
PlayStation Plus access is conditional. A game claimed as a Plus monthly benefit or obtained from a Plus catalog can require an active subscription, and catalog availability can change. That entitlement is not automatically equivalent to buying the game outright.

Monthly or claimed Plus games
Sign in to the account that claimed the game and verify that its Plus subscription is active. If the subscription lapsed, the title can remain associated with the account but be unavailable to play until eligibility is restored, subject to the service’s current rules.

Plus catalog games
For a catalog title, check whether the game is still included in the relevant catalog for your plan and region. A previous download does not guarantee continued catalog access after a removal or plan change.
How to distinguish Plus from a purchase
Use the transaction or purchase history and the product’s entitlement details. A standalone purchase should show a completed purchase; a Plus claim or catalog access will be tied to subscription status instead. If the history is ambiguous, give Support the account, title, transaction details and the date you last accessed the game.
Fix access shared from another account
PS5: Console Sharing and Offline Play
When another account owns the game, that owner must authorize the PS5 for Console Sharing and Offline Play. Sign in as the owner, open the relevant Users and Accounts settings, and confirm the feature is enabled on that console. Then sign back in to the other profile and check the library or launch the installed game.
Only the owner’s entitlement can be validated. If the owner removed sharing, activated it on another PS5, lost the entitlement or is signed out, the shared user can see a padlock even though the game files remain installed.

PS4: activate the owner’s primary PS4
On PS4, the owner account must have the console activated as its primary PS4 for other local users to use eligible purchases. Sign in as the owner, check the primary-PS4 activation in Account Management, and activate this console if appropriate. The owner may need to deactivate a different primary PS4 first, subject to Sony’s activation limits and account controls.
Sharing is not a way to transfer ownership. If the owner’s account cannot download the title, changing your profile’s settings will not recreate that license.
Restore licenses on PS5 or PS4
Restoring licenses makes the console recheck the digital rights associated with the signed-in account. Sony says this process does not affect saved data. It can help with a padlock, a missing game or add-on, or crashes caused by a license-recognition problem.
PS5 license-restore path
- Open Settings.
- Select Users and Accounts.
- Choose Other.
- Select Restore Licenses.
- Confirm the restore, wait for it to finish, then restart the console and revisit Game Library > Your Collection.
PS4 license-restore path
- Open Settings.
- Select Account Management.
- Choose Restore Licenses.
- Select Restore.
- After completion, return to Library > Purchased and try the download.
Restoring licenses cannot create a purchase that is absent from the account, extend a Plus catalog listing that has ended, or override a regional restriction. It is a synchronization step for an entitlement that should already be present.
When the title appears but the download fails
A visible entitlement and a failed download are separate problems. Use Sony’s download troubleshooting sequence rather than repeating license restoration indefinitely.

Check service status and system software
- Check PlayStation service status for an outage affecting Store, account or downloads.
- Install any available PS5 or PS4 system-software update.
- Confirm that the console is signed in to PlayStation Network and has a stable connection.
Check storage and the download queue
- Verify that the internal or expanded storage has enough free space for the game and its installation overhead.
- Pause the download, wait briefly, then resume it.
- If it remains stuck, cancel the failed download and start it again from the library.
- Restart the console and check the notification queue for an error code.
Use Safe Mode only for appropriate indexing or cache problems
If ordinary retries fail and Sony’s troubleshooting guidance points to a cache or database issue, use the applicable Safe Mode cache/database options. Follow the on-screen warning carefully; some Safe Mode operations can change or rebuild system data. These steps can repair download or library indexing failures, but they do not restore an entitlement that the account does not possess.
Why a delisted game may still be unavailable
No general procedure can guarantee a download for every delisted title. Availability can depend on the game’s license, the account’s transaction record, the region in which it was obtained, the edition involved and whether access came from Plus or sharing.
Sony’s U.S. March 2026 Terms of Service, section 8.16, says the user is responsible for accessing a product before it is removed or its license expires. The same section states: “We are not obligated to provide you with replacement copies for any reason.” This wording is specific to that U.S. agreement and date; it is not a universal statement about every country, account or named game.

Sony’s terms also do not promise a replacement copy when a product is removed. Keep that limitation in mind before deleting a working installation of a rare digital title.
Contact PlayStation Support for a title-specific failure
Escalate after you have confirmed the purchasing account, transaction, hidden-library status, entitlement type, sharing configuration and license restore. Support is the only appropriate route for determining why a particular account cannot access a particular delisted game.
Prepare the following information:
- The PlayStation account ID or sign-in email, handled through the official support process.
- The exact game name, edition, platform version and region.
- The transaction date, order details or other proof shown in the account’s transaction history.
- Whether access was a purchase, a Plus benefit or sharing from another account.
- The console model, system-software version and available storage.
- The exact error message or code.
- The date and time of the failed attempt, the steps you took and whether the title appeared in the library.
- A screenshot or short video showing the library entry, padlock or error, if Support’s upload process allows it.
Describe the result precisely: “The purchase is present but the title is absent from Purchased,” “the game is listed but Download is unavailable,” or “the download starts and fails with this code.” That distinction helps Support investigate the entitlement rather than sending generic connection advice.

- Record order confirmations and transaction IDs in a secure location.
- Do not hide a title unless you intentionally want it removed from normal library views.

- Not in Store search? Open the account library instead.
- Not in the library? Verify the signed-in account and transaction history.
- Transaction exists? Check hidden games, then restore licenses.
- Plus access? Confirm the subscription and current catalog or claim eligibility.
- Another account owns it? Check PS5 Console Sharing and Offline Play or the owner’s primary PS4 activation.
- Listed but failing to download? Check service status, software, storage and the download queue, then follow applicable Safe Mode guidance.
- Still unresolved? Contact PlayStation Support with the title, account evidence, error and troubleshooting record.
