Display a Nendoroid in a well-ventilated spot away from direct sunlight, strong fluorescent light, heat, and humidity. Handle its parts gently, keep parts from pressing against each other during storage, and clean only as needed with methods suited to the surface. Good Smile Company’s guidance is general; follow the manual supplied with your specific figure for model-specific assembly and care.
Choose a safe display location
Good Smile Company recommends a well-ventilated place away from direct sunlight. Strong fluorescent light may also fade colors, while heat and humidity can accelerate deterioration. Keep figures away from heating appliances and other nearby heat sources. These are precautions, not a way to prevent all aging: Good Smile says deterioration is inevitable, but may happen faster in some storage conditions. The company does not provide a quantified lifespan or deterioration rate.
- Prefer: a ventilated spot with no direct sun and no nearby heat source.
- Avoid: hot or humid areas and exposure to strong fluorescent light.
- Protect nearby surfaces: one Good Smile product manual warns that leaving a figure on furniture for an extended time may transfer color to the surface.
The furniture warning comes from a product-specific manual, not a universal instruction for every model. Check your figure’s own manual for its assembly and handling details.
Unpack and store figures and parts thoughtfully
Inspect a new figure promptly
Good Smile advises unpacking newly received figures rather than leaving them unopened. Check for damage, missing parts, dirt, and assembly problems. The company notes that it may be unable to provide customer support if too much time has passed since delivery, but does not state a universal deadline.

Limit long-term contact between parts
If you store a figure in its box or a container, take it out regularly. Good Smile warns that Nendoroid parts left touching for a long time may transfer color. Arrange loose pieces so they do not press against one another; avoid treating the original packaging as a maintenance-free long-term storage solution.
Clean according to the problem and surface
Good Smile’s linked cleaning blog presents these approaches as possibilities and says readers use them at their own risk. They are not guarantees for every model, paint, or finish. Start with the least aggressive option and stop if a surface changes.

Why a figure may feel sticky
The cleaning blog attributes stickiness to plasticizer migrating from the figure material to its surface over time. It says this can happen faster when a figure is kept in blister packaging. A sticky surface is not a cue to scrub harder: use gentle cleaning and take extra care with delicate finishes.
Be especially cautious with coated or painted figures
Some Nendoroids have a rubber-like smooth texture from a special paint coating. Good Smile’s support guidance points to Japanese-language care information for these figures. Because ordinary cleaning methods may not suit every coating, do not assume a method safe for an unpainted area is safe for a coated surface.
The cleaning blog also discusses abrasive scouring cream as a last resort, but warns that it can damage the figure and reduce gloss. It is not routine care; for valuable, painted, rubber-coated, or otherwise delicate surfaces, seek current manufacturer guidance rather than experimenting.

Ease a difficult connection without forcing it
If a part is difficult to remove or attach, Good Smile suggests warming the area around the connection with a hair dryer. Its support instructions also describe immersing parts in warm water at about 40°C for 15 minutes, with a warning to avoid burns. Consult the full official instructions for the relevant part, handle it carefully, and stop if it appears defective or removal could cause damage. Do not force a part in an unintended direction: a Good Smile manual warns that this may break it.

Check the current product details and compatibility with your particular figure before buying; stands should not be assumed interchangeable.
