If your AT&T internet or Wi-Fi is down, first check whether the problem affects one device or every device, then check for a service outage and inspect the lights on your exact gateway model. Restart the gateway before considering a factory reset: a reset erases custom settings and will not fix an AT&T network outage.
First, find out what is actually offline
“Router not working” can mean a Wi-Fi problem on one device, a gateway connection issue, or an AT&T service problem. The symptom alone does not establish that the gateway has failed.
- Only one device is affected: Check that it is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network, then test another device. If other devices can get online, focus on the affected device’s connection rather than resetting the gateway.
- All devices are affected: Check for an outage, then inspect the gateway and its status lights.
AT&T’s internet troubleshooting page directs customers to connection help, outage checks, Wi-Fi information, and equipment-light guidance.
Check for an AT&T outage
Use AT&T’s outage checker for the location and service on your account. Outage status is specific to a place and time, so a general troubleshooting guide cannot determine whether your line is affected. If AT&T reports an outage, a gateway restart or factory reset is unlikely to resolve the provider-side problem; follow the account-specific updates and guidance from AT&T.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Identify your gateway and read its status lights
Find the model name or number on your Wi-Fi gateway or All-Fi Hub, then consult the status-light guide for that exact equipment and service type. Light colors and patterns are not universal across AT&T devices.
For example, AT&T’s Fixed Wireless Internet gateway guide says a flashing red Broadband light means that gateway cannot connect to the network. In the same guide, a solid red Service light indicates authentication failed, while solid red Power can indicate a gateway or power-supply malfunction. These interpretations apply to the equipment covered by that guide, not automatically to other AT&T gateways.

If your model’s guide indicates a network or authentication problem, or you cannot tell what its lights mean, use AT&T’s account-specific troubleshooting rather than assuming the device is defective.
Restart the gateway before trying a factory reset
A restart is the lower-risk first step: it temporarily disconnects connected devices and services while the gateway powers back up, but it does not erase custom settings. AT&T’s manual restart instructions are to unplug the power cord, wait 20 seconds, reconnect it, and allow the equipment to finish restarting. Some restart flows can take up to 10 minutes. DSL subscribers should also follow AT&T’s applicable telephone-cord disconnect-and-reconnect step.

- Unplug the gateway or modem’s power cord.
- Wait 20 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord and let the equipment restart. Wait for it to finish reconnecting before judging whether service has returned.
For supported equipment, AT&T also provides a restart through Smart Home Manager: sign in, open Network, choose Home Network Hardware, select Wi-Fi Gateway, and choose Restart. AT&T’s restart instructions list compatible models, but compatibility can change; check the current page rather than relying on an old model list.
Use a factory reset only if the problem persists
A factory reset returns the gateway to its original settings and deletes custom settings. Before resetting, record any configuration you may need again, such as a custom Wi-Fi network name and password or a static IP setting. AT&T recommends rebooting first.

AT&T’s factory-reset instructions say to press and hold the Reset button for at least 10 seconds, then wait for the gateway to restart. Follow the instructions for your own model, since the post-reset setup can vary by equipment.

Use AT&T’s account-specific troubleshooting or contact support if the outage checker does not show an outage but the gateway still cannot connect, its model-specific lights indicate a network or authentication problem, or a restart does not restore service. The cause may be with the line, account, network, or equipment; the available symptoms alone do not prove which one. A generic replacement router is not a reliable universal fix for an AT&T service or gateway problem.
