Equip a gun, aim at the glowing weak point, and fire until the obstruction clears. The Xbox guide describes similar targets as “glowing red-orange nodes” that reveal blocked paths, while GamingBolt says the guns are mainly used to hit glowing blobs that block forward progress.
What the red blobs are
Red blobs are glowing environmental objects placed near blocked routes. They function as progression targets: destroying one opens or reveals a path rather than rewarding you for defeating a conventional enemy. Treat the glow as a signal that the object is meant to be shot.
The documented solution is a firearm. There is no published evidence of a special gun, a required weapon tier, a damage threshold, or a fixed number of shots. The available guidance also does not provide blob health values or a numeric spawn rule.
How to destroy a red blob
- Equip a firearm. Switch away from melee equipment before engaging the obstruction.
- Find the glowing target. Look around the blocked doorway, passage, or route for a red or red-orange node. The target may be mounted on or near the obstruction rather than directly in its center.
- Aim down sights. Line up the weapon with the glowing weak point. The official Xbox guidance specifically recommends aiming at glowing weak points and identifies red-orange nodes as path-clearing targets.
- Fire controlled shots. Shoot the glowing point until it is destroyed or the obstruction visibly clears. Because ammunition is scarce, avoid firing into surrounding scenery or empty parts of the obstruction.
- Check the route. After the target disappears or the blockage opens, move through the newly available path. If nothing changes, scan nearby surfaces for another glowing node before spending more ammunition.
Red blobs versus fleshy webs
Not every organic-looking barrier uses the same tool. The visual distinction matters because using the wrong attack wastes time and ammunition.

The Xbox guide warns that ammunition is scarce and advises making every shot count. Firearms also serve a combat role, including attacks against enemy weak points, so unnecessary shots at scenery can leave you short during the next fight.

- Pause briefly to identify the exact glowing point before firing.
- Use aim-down-sights precision rather than broad, repeated hip-fire bursts.
- Do not assume every red surface is a target; shoot the clearly luminous node.
- Once the node breaks or the route opens, stop firing and move on.
If the path does not open
You cannot see a target
Search the area around the obstruction, including nearby walls and the upper or lower edges of the blocked route. The node may reveal the route without being positioned in the middle of the barrier.

Confirm that you equipped a firearm and are aiming at the glowing weak point rather than the surrounding material. Melee attacks are not the documented solution for these nodes.

The barrier looks like webbing
Stop spending bullets and use Fire Transmutation instead. Fleshy webs are a separate environmental obstruction.
The obstruction remains after the node is hit
Look for another glowing node in the same puzzle area and verify that the first target actually disappeared. The available sources do not establish a universal shot count, so do not rely on a fixed number of rounds.
