No—not directly, according to Adobe’s current Audition documentation. Audition’s documented multitrack interchange exports are OMF and Final Cut Pro XML, not AAF. If a client or post-production facility requires AAF, Adobe documents exporting it from Premiere Pro instead. That is a separate-app handoff, not an Audition AAF export option.
What Audition can export for an editable handoff
Adobe’s Audition multitrack export documentation lists OMF and Final Cut Pro XML Interchange Format. Its documented formats for opening in the Multitrack Editor include those formats, along with Audition sessions and other XML formats; AAF is not listed. Menu availability and details can vary with installed versions, so check the recipient’s requirements and your application before delivery.
OMF: the documented alternative to ask about first
In Audition, use File > Export > OMF for a multitrack session. The export offers sample-type, media, trimming, and handle-duration controls. Encapsulated OMF packages media inside the export; referenced OMF points to media files separately. Adobe states that encapsulated OMF files are limited to 2 GB. If the recipient needs room to adjust edits or fades, choose handles and confirm their required duration.
Review Audition’s export warnings before sending: they identify session elements that will be excluded or changed. Confirm whether the recipient can accept OMF and whether they expect embedded or referenced media, the sample rate and bit depth, and editable clips rather than a rendered mix. Final Cut Pro XML: use only when its omissions are acceptable
Audition’s other documented multitrack interchange export is File > Export > FCP XML Interchange Format. Adobe documents significant losses: stereo clips and tracks become mono because the second stereo channel is not included; overlapping clips, effects and track EQ, most automation, and output routing, sends, buses, and the mix track are also excluded. The documented automation exceptions are clip volume and mono-to-stereo track panning. This format is not a full-fidelity session handoff when those elements matter.

How to make an AAF when the recipient requires one
Adobe documents AAF export in Premiere Pro. AAF is a multimedia interchange format for digital media and metadata, but compatibility is not universal: Adobe states that Premiere-exported AAF files are compatible with Avid Media Composer and Avid Pro Tools and that other AAF importers have not been tested. Confirm the exact target application and its requirements with the receiving editor or facility before building the handoff.
- Confirm the deliverable. Ask whether the recipient needs editable clips or a rendered mix, which application and version will import the file, and whether audio should be embedded or separate. Also verify sample rate, bit depth, and any expected handles.
- Prepare the project in Premiere Pro. Use the documented Premiere AAF export workflow for the sequence and project that are appropriate to the handoff. Audition’s ability to exchange audio with Premiere does not add AAF export to Audition itself.
- Choose media packaging with file size in mind. On Windows, Adobe says embedded Premiere AAF files larger than 2 GB are unsupported and fail to export; for large AAFs, Adobe advises exporting with separate audio instead of embedded audio.
- Validate the handoff with the recipient. Check the export warnings and, where practical, have the receiving application import the AAF before treating delivery as complete. Adobe’s stated compatibility should not be extended to untested AAF importers.

When a rendered mix or stems are the better deliverable
If neither OMF nor FCP XML preserves the edits and processing the recipient needs, agree on a rendered mix or stems instead of presenting an interchange file as a complete session. Adobe documents sending a Premiere sequence to Audition and exporting completed multitrack audio to Adobe Media Encoder, including customizable routing of tracks to output channels. An Audition .sesx file contains no audio. Adobe describes it as a small XML-based file that points to audio and video elsewhere on the drive and stores session details such as file locations, envelopes, and effects. Sending the SESX alone therefore does not supply the referenced media.
