Amazon’s published description of Bee says it processes conversations in real time without storing audio. Bee can still create personal data such as transcripts and summaries, and Amazon says customers can delete that data. If you actually mean an Alexa or Echo device, use Alexa’s separate history controls: More → Alexa Privacy → Review Alexa History. The products use different data controls, so identifying the device first prevents you from deleting the wrong history.
First, identify whether you mean Bee or Alexa
Amazon uses “recordings” in several privacy contexts, but Bee and Alexa are not managed through the same documented workflow. Bee is described as an AI wearable with Voice Notes. Alexa and Echo devices have a voice-history page in the Alexa app and on Amazon’s Alexa Privacy Settings website.

Check which Amazon account is signed in before you start. A household may have several adult accounts, child profiles or devices registered to different accounts. Deleting history from the wrong account will not remove another user’s entries. For Alexa, the account connected to the Echo is the account whose history appears in the Alexa app. For Bee, use the account paired with the wearable and its companion app.

Decide whether you need to remove one sensitive interaction, a date range or everything shown. A broad deletion command is harder to undo than selecting a single item. If an interaction created a reminder, list, message, attachment or skill action, note those items so you can review them separately after deleting the voice entry.
Do not assume that a downloaded note, screenshot, email or copy pasted into another app will disappear when the Amazon entry is deleted. Delete those copies in the destination service as well.
How to delete Amazon Bee transcripts and summaries
Amazon’s public description of Bee says customers can delete their personal data, including transcripts and summaries, at any time. It does not provide a single, version-numbered sequence of buttons that applies to every Bee app release or region. Menu names can therefore change.

- Open the section labelled Privacy, Data, Voice Notes, Conversation history or a similar account-control label. Use the wording displayed in your version rather than looking for an obsolete screenshot.
- Review the listed transcripts, summaries or other personal-data entries and select the items you want removed. If the app offers a date range or “delete all” option, read the confirmation text carefully before accepting it.
- Confirm deletion and wait for the app to report that the request was submitted or completed. Keep the app signed in to the same Amazon account used by Bee.
- Reopen the history view after the confirmation and check whether the selected entries have disappeared. A missing entry in the app is useful confirmation, but it is not a promise that copies outside Amazon’s cloud or data already used in another system have been removed.
If you cannot find any audio list, that is not necessarily an error. Amazon’s description says Bee processes conversations in real time without storing audio. The records you can see may be derived transcripts or summaries rather than playable source recordings.
When a transcript is shared with another person or exported to another service, record the destination before deletion. The Bee control applies to the data held in the Bee or Amazon account; it does not operate as a remote-delete command for a recipient’s copy.
Does Amazon Bee save audio?

Bee can nevertheless produce derived information, including transcripts and summaries, and those are the records Amazon expressly says customers may delete.
Processing audio without storing it does not mean that every resulting record disappears automatically. If a transcript or summary is visible in your Bee account, treat it as personal data and delete it through the available Bee privacy controls. Also check whether a note was exported, shared or copied into another service; deleting the Bee entry would not automatically erase a separate copy you created elsewhere.
Keep the wording precise when explaining Bee to someone else: Amazon’s statement supports “processes conversations without storing audio,” not a claim that no information is ever retained. It specifically identifies transcripts and summaries as personal data that can be deleted.

How to erase Alexa or Echo voice history
If you meant Alexa or an Echo device, Amazon documents an exact route in the Alexa app. The same account controls are available through the Alexa Privacy Settings website.
- Open the Alexa app.
- Select More.
- Select Alexa Privacy.
- Open Review Alexa History.
- Select the individual entries or the available history range you want removed. The history can include voice recordings, their transcripts and typed requests.
- Confirm deletion using the control shown for your selection.
Use the account that is connected to the Echo device. If several household members use different Amazon accounts, each account’s history must be reviewed separately. Deleting an entry from one account does not delete another person’s history.
The history page is useful for checking what Alexa received, not just for deleting it. Read the transcript before removing an entry if you are investigating a mistaken activation, an unexpected typed request or an action you do not recognize. Once the requested item is gone, it may be harder to reconstruct what happened.
Delete Alexa history by voice command
Alexa’s voice-deletion commands work only after the feature is enabled. In the Alexa app, go to More → Alexa Privacy → Manage Your Alexa Data → Voice and Typed Requests and turn on the option that allows deletion by voice.
Once enabled, Amazon documents these commands:
- “Delete what I just said.”
- “Delete everything I said today.”
- “Delete my entire voice history.”
After giving a command, verify the result in Review Alexa History. Voice recognition can misunderstand a command, and the history page is the place to confirm which entries were actually selected for deletion. If the command is not recognized, use the app or website instead of repeatedly speaking sensitive information near the device.
Stop Alexa from keeping future voice recordings
Alexa’s data controls also let you change retention going forward. In the Alexa app, open More → Alexa Privacy → Manage Your Alexa Data → Voice and Typed Requests, then choose the retention option presented in your account.

Amazon ended the separate Do Not Send Voice Recordings option on March 28, 2025. The documented control that remains is the retention choice, including don’t save recordings. If an older guide tells you to enable “Do Not Send Voice Recordings,” its menu instructions are no longer current.

What Alexa deletion removes—and what it may leave behind
Amazon says a deletion request removes the specified Alexa recordings, transcripts and typed requests from its cloud. Deletion is not a universal eraser for every record connected with an interaction.
- Other interaction records: Attachments, action records, product-search records, reminders, lists and messages may be retained separately.
- Third-party skill data: A skill developer may keep information under that developer’s own systems and policies. Deleting the Alexa history entry does not automatically direct every skill developer to erase its copy.
- Data outside Amazon’s cloud: A copy stored on another service or device is outside the Alexa deletion control.
- Processing time: Amazon says deletion can take time. Data may remain usable while the request is being processed.
- De-identified copies: Amazon says de-identified copies may remain.
- Already-trained systems: Systems that have already been trained with the data may continue to exist.
These qualifications do not make deletion pointless. Removing the specified history reduces the data available in the Alexa account, but it should not be described as a guarantee that every derivative, external or previously processed copy has vanished.
If a third-party skill handled the request, consult that developer’s privacy information for its deletion route. Amazon’s Alexa history control and a skill developer’s own account system are separate places to check.

How deletion affects Voice ID and personalization
Privacy settings can change how Alexa recognizes and personalizes responses. Amazon specifically warns that choosing not to save recordings deletes Voice ID and can cause Voice ID or other personalized features to stop working or degrade.
That trade-off matters when deciding between automatic deletion and “don’t save recordings.” If multiple people use one Echo, losing Voice ID may also remove features that distinguish household members. You can still delete individual entries or use a shorter automatic-retention period instead of disabling recording storage entirely.
After changing the setting, test the features your household relies on and tell other users what changed. A missing personalized response does not necessarily mean the Echo is broken; it may reflect the deliberate removal of Voice ID.
Use Amazon’s privacy notice for broader data rights
Amazon’s Privacy Notice lists voice recordings made when customers speak to Alexa among the personal information it collects. It also says applicable law may provide access or deletion rights. Those legal rights are broader than the in-app history menu, but the notice is not a replacement for using Review Alexa History when you want to remove specific Alexa interactions.
For a formal privacy request, follow the instructions and eligibility requirements shown in Amazon’s current privacy materials for your country or region. Laws, identity checks and response timelines can differ by location; do not assume that a right described in one jurisdiction applies identically elsewhere. A formal request may cover categories of information that are not visible in the Alexa history list, while the app remains the quickest route for an individual voice entry.

Privacy checklist after deleting history
- Confirm whether the product is Bee or Alexa/Echo before changing settings.
- For Bee, remove visible transcripts and summaries in the current Bee app or account privacy controls.
- For Alexa, verify the selected entries in More → Alexa Privacy → Review Alexa History.
- Set Alexa to 3-month, 18-month or “don’t save recordings” retention according to your tolerance for history versus personalization.

The Bee app has no “recordings” menu

I cannot find Alexa Privacy
Use the Alexa app’s More menu and look for Alexa Privacy. Make sure you are using the Alexa app rather than a general Amazon shopping screen. The Alexa Privacy Settings website provides another route to the same account controls.
A deleted Alexa entry still appears
Check that you deleted the correct account, selected the intended date range and allowed time for processing. Amazon says data can remain usable while deletion is being processed. A related attachment, reminder, list item, message or skill record may also be a separate entry.

I deleted history but a skill still knows something
