To delete only a YouTube channel, use YouTube Studio on a computer and choose Settings → Channel → Advanced Settings → Remove YouTube Content. This does not delete the Google Account you use to sign in. Before you confirm, make sure you selected the right channel and export anything you want to keep. If you only need a temporary privacy break, hide the channel instead.
Choose between hiding, deleting a channel, and deleting your Google Account
These are three different actions with different consequences. Decide whether you want to make a channel private, remove its content permanently, or close the Google Account behind it.

Hiding is the reversible option. YouTube says a hidden channel’s name, videos, likes, subscriptions, and subscribers become private; re-enabling it restores the channel. Permanent channel deletion and Google Account deletion are not equivalent. The channel deletion flow deletes the YouTube channel, not the sign-in Google Account. YouTube Help
Before you delete: verify the channel and save what matters
Check the selected channel and who controls it
In YouTube, check the account switcher and confirm the channel name before continuing. This matters if you manage more than one channel. A personal channel uses the Google Account name and photo. A channel linked to a Brand Account can have a different identity and can be managed by multiple Google Accounts; Brand Account owners and managers can access the channel, while owners can take full actions such as deleting it. Export videos and other Google data with Takeout
Use Google Takeout to select YouTube and any other Google data you want in an archive, then choose a delivery option and create the export. Google lists email download links and cloud destinations including Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, and Box. Archive creation can take from minutes to a few days; Google says most people receive the link the same day. These are guidance ranges, not a guaranteed delivery time.
Takeout creates a copy; downloading your data does not delete it from Google’s servers. Once the archive is ready, open it and check that it contains the videos and other files you expected, then store it somewhere with enough space. If videos are missing, Google advises checking whether the channel is linked to a Brand Account: sign in with the associated Google Account and switch to the Brand Account used to upload them. Download individual uploads if needed
You can download individual uploaded videos in YouTube Studio, and YouTube also points to Google Takeout for downloading all uploaded videos. Individual downloads may not be available if a video was removed, has a copyright or Community Guidelines strike, uses a preapproved audio track, or has already been downloaded five times in the previous 24 hours. How to permanently delete a YouTube channel
YouTube’s documented permanent-deletion route is for a computer; channel deletion is not currently available on mobile devices. Menu wording can change, so use YouTube’s help page if the labels differ. YouTube Help

- Sign in to YouTube Studio with the account that manages the channel you intend to remove. Verify the selected channel in the account switcher.
- Open Settings → Channel → Advanced Settings.
- At the bottom, select Remove YouTube Content. You may be asked to sign in again.
- Select I want to permanently delete my content.
- Review the confirmation boxes, select them, and choose Delete my content only if you are certain.
What happens after deletion—and what does not
YouTube states: “Closing your YouTube channel will permanently delete your content, including videos, comments, messages, playlists, and history.” Deletion may take time, and thumbnails can remain visible briefly. YouTube does not give a guaranteed completion time or promise that a permanently deleted channel can be recovered; it warns recovery may become harder. YouTube Help
Deleting the channel does not, by itself, delete the Google Account used to sign in. By contrast, deleting that Google Account is a separate, broader action that removes YouTube data and can affect other Google services and access. Do not select Google Account deletion unless that wider outcome is what you want. YouTube Help

Do not confuse removing a YouTube channel with deleting the associated Brand Account. Deleting a Brand Account removes its content across Google services, so check the exact action and selected account before confirming. YouTube Help

Takeout does not show my videos
Check whether the channel is linked to a Brand Account. Sign in with the associated Google Account, then switch to the Brand Account used to upload the videos and check the export again. Google Account Help

I only want the channel out of public view
Choose the hide option rather than permanent deletion. Hiding can be reversed by re-enabling the channel; deletion is intended to remove its content.
I cannot find the deletion option on my phone
YouTube says channel deletion is not currently available on mobile devices. Use YouTube Studio on a computer and follow the settings path above. YouTube Help
I need to keep a copy offline
Download the Takeout archive or individual eligible uploads before deleting. A local external drive is optional; choose storage with capacity for the archive rather than assuming any particular device or size is required.
