ARK: Survival Evolved does not provide a documented universal command that permanently erases one player and everything associated with that player. To remove someone’s access, use cheat BanPlayer; to remove an account from a whitelist without banning it, use cheat DisallowPlayerToJoinNoCheck. First identify the correct account with ListPlayers, because Steam, Epic and console platforms use different identifier formats. If you only need to reverse a ban, run cheat UnbanPlayer. Do not use tribe-destruction commands for an individual: they affect every player in a tribe.
What “delete a player” means in ARK
Administrators usually mean one of four different things when they ask how to delete a player:

- Disconnect someone temporarily.
- Destroy every player associated with a tribe.
These outcomes are not interchangeable. The documented individual access controls are a ban and a whitelist removal. Neither command is described as erasing a survivor, deleting a Steam or Epic account, or wiping a player’s saved data. They change whether the account can access the server.

If your goal is simply to prevent one person from returning, use the narrowest individual action: a ban for a denied account, or whitelist removal when your server relies on a whitelist and you do not want that account listed there.

Requirements before running an administration command
Administrator authentication
You must be authenticated as a server administrator. On a dedicated server, open the in-game console and sign in with the server admin password. Dedicated-server administration instructions require enablecheats before other cheat commands are accepted. A typical password form is:
enablecheats <server-admin-password>Replace the text in angle brackets with the password configured for your server. The angle brackets are a placeholder, not characters to type. If the command is rejected, confirm that you are connected to the intended server, entered the administrator password correctly, and enabled cheats in that server session.
A reliable record of the target account
Do not identify a player only by a display name when an account identifier is available. Names can be mistyped, changed, duplicated across platforms, or displayed differently from the account value used by the server. The official command reference documents ListPlayers as the way to obtain player information and, in particular, an Int64-encoded Steam ID.
The correct console context
Commands must be entered in the server’s administration console, not in ordinary chat. Use the command prefix shown by your server’s command interface. The documented examples use cheat before the player-management commands.
Step 1: Find the player’s account identifier
- Authenticate as administrator and enable cheats if you are operating a dedicated server.
- Open the in-game administration console.
- Run
ListPlayers. - Read the returned account information and copy the target player’s identifier exactly.
- Record which platform the identifier belongs to before using a ban or whitelist command.
ListPlayersThe Steam identifier reported by this command is an Int64-encoded Steam ID. Steam IDs are typically 17 digits. Epic account IDs are typically 19 digits. Those lengths are useful sanity checks, but they are not a substitute for copying the value returned by the server. A number with the wrong length, a truncated value, or an identifier copied from a different player can apply the action to the wrong account or fail to match anyone.

When the player is online
An online player is the easiest case: run ListPlayers while the person is connected, match the visible player information to the person you intend to remove, and copy the corresponding identifier. Confirm the name and platform before proceeding. If two players have similar names, do not rely on the name alone.
When the player is offline
The ban and whitelist commands target an account identifier, so the player does not need to remain online when you apply the access change. The difficult part is obtaining the right identifier. Use an earlier ListPlayers result or another trustworthy server record that preserves the account ID. If you cannot establish the identifier with confidence, do not guess. A guessed value can leave the unwanted account untouched or affect a different account.
Step 2: Ban one player from the server
Use a ban when the account should be denied access through the server’s banned list. The official command definition describes BanPlayer as adding the specified player to the server’s banned list.
Steam or Epic account identifier
After copying the correct value from ListPlayers, run:
cheat BanPlayer <SteamID-or-account-ID>Replace the placeholder with the complete Steam or Epic account identifier. Keep the identifier on the same command line and do not add punctuation, spaces inside the number, or quotation marks unless your console specifically requires them.

Xbox or PlayStation name form
The official command reference also shows a name-based form for Xbox and PlayStation:
cheat BanPlayer myname84937593Use the exact player name format required by your console server. Because a name-based command depends on an exact match, verify spelling and capitalization as displayed by the server. If the console edition provides an account ID and your administration tools accept it, prefer the identifier that the server returns rather than manually guessing a name.
What a ban changes
A successful ban places the specified account on the server’s banned list. It is an access-control action: it prevents that account from joining according to the server’s ban rules. The command definition does not describe it as a character, tribe or account-data deletion operation.
Step 3: Remove an account from a whitelist
Use whitelist removal when your server controls access through an allowlist and you want to take one account off that list. The documented command is:

cheat DisallowPlayerToJoinNoCheck <SteamID-or-account-ID>The official reference defines this command as removing the specified player from the server whitelist. It is narrower than destroying a tribe and is different from adding the player to the banned list.

Use the same identifier discipline as with a ban: copy the account value from ListPlayers or a reliable server record, check the platform, and run the command only after confirming the target. If the account is not on the whitelist, the command may have no useful effect; check your server’s access configuration afterward.
Step 4: Undo a ban when the decision changes
A ban can be reversed with UnbanPlayer. The official command definition says that it removes the specified player from the server’s banned list.

cheat UnbanPlayer <SteamID-or-account-ID>Use the same account identifier that was banned. An unban is not a whitelist addition: if your server also requires whitelist membership, you may need to add the account back through your normal whitelist procedure. Likewise, removing a ban does not automatically resolve a wrong identifier, another access restriction, or a separate platform mismatch.
Kick, ban or whitelist removal: choosing the least disruptive option
Use a kick for an immediate, temporary interruption
A kick is appropriate when you need someone disconnected now but do not intend to deny future access. The exact kick control and syntax vary by server management interface, and the command definitions covered here do not establish one universal kick command. A kick should not be treated as a ban: a player who is kicked may be able to reconnect.
Use a ban for a continuing access restriction
A ban is the direct choice when the account must remain blocked until an administrator reverses the decision. It is account-specific and reversible with UnbanPlayer.

Use whitelist removal for allowlist administration
Remove an account from the whitelist when whitelist membership, rather than a banned-list decision, is the reason it should no longer join. This keeps the action aligned with the way your server manages access.

ARK documents two commands with much broader effects:
DestroyTribeIdPlayersdestroys all players in a specified tribe.DestroyTribePlayersdestroys all players of a tribe based on the targeted tribe or player owner.
The command description for DestroyTribeIdPlayers states that it will destroy all players in a tribe. That is fundamentally different from blocking one account. A tribe-wide command can affect people who were not the subject of the complaint, so it should never be used as a substitute for BanPlayer or DisallowPlayerToJoinNoCheck.
Before running either tribe command, stop and verify that the problem truly concerns every player in that tribe. If the intention is to remove only one person’s access, return to the individual account identifier and use the narrowest command.
Troubleshooting failed or unexpected results
The console says the command is unknown or has no effect
- Confirm that you are in the server administration console rather than normal chat.
- On a dedicated server, authenticate with the admin password and run
enablecheatsbefore the player-management command. - Check the command spelling and capitalization:
ListPlayers,BanPlayer,DisallowPlayerToJoinNoCheckandUnbanPlayerare distinct names. - Use the documented
cheatprefix in the command interface that expects it.
The player can still join after you intended to remove them
- Check that you used the correct account identifier, not a display name or a truncated number.
- Verify the platform. Steam IDs are typically 17 digits, while Epic account IDs are typically 19 digits.
- Confirm that you ran
BanPlayerrather than only disconnecting the current session. - If your server uses a whitelist, check whether the account remains authorized through that system and remove it with
DisallowPlayerToJoinNoCheckwhen appropriate. - Make sure the player is not connecting with a different account than the one you identified.
The wrong person was targeted
Stop issuing further commands and preserve the identifier and console output you used. If the mistake was a ban, run UnbanPlayer with the same account identifier. Then identify the intended account again with ListPlayers or a reliable saved record. Do not attempt to correct an individual mistake with a tribe-destruction command.
The player is offline and cannot be matched by name
Do not invent an ID from a username. Locate a previous ListPlayers result or another authoritative server record. If no trustworthy identifier exists, wait until the player can be identified accurately rather than risking action against another account.
A safe administrator workflow
- Write down the reason for the access change and decide whether it is temporary, a ban, or a whitelist change.
- Authenticate as administrator.
- Enable cheats on the dedicated server before running other commands.
- Run
ListPlayersand copy the complete account identifier. - Check the platform and compare the identifier with the player name you intend to target.
- Run only the narrow command that matches the decision.
- Keep the command result and identifier in your server administration notes.
- If circumstances change, reverse an individual ban with
UnbanPlayer; do not use a destructive tribe command as a correction.

The practical answer is therefore straightforward: authenticate, enable cheats on a dedicated server, run ListPlayers, verify the platform-specific account ID, and use BanPlayer for a continuing individual block or DisallowPlayerToJoinNoCheck for whitelist removal. Reserve UnbanPlayer for reversing a ban, and never substitute a tribe-wide destruction command for an individual player action.
