Godlike.Host offers hosted 7 Days to Die servers with its own game panel, SFTP access and free DDoS protection, if you would rather not host it yourself.
There are two different ways to “delete” a player from a 7 Days to Die server. Use a console command when you only need to remove access, kick the player, revoke administrator or whitelist status, or manage a ban. To erase the character’s saved progress, stop the server, back up the save, and remove that player’s files from the active world save. File deletion is permanent, normally removes land claims, and usually must be performed by the server owner or host.
Decide what “delete” means before changing anything
A kick, ban, or permission change affects whether a player can connect; it does not erase the character already stored in the world. A profile wipe affects the saved character, inventory, progression, and claims, but it is not automatically a ban. Choose the narrowest action that solves the problem.

The pplist command is useful for listing persistent player data, but it is not a deletion command. No documented command in the available version guidance removes a player’s saved profile.
Prepare safely before a profile wipe
Confirm that a wipe, not a restriction, is required
If the issue is harassment, unauthorized access, or a player who should not return, use the access controls first. Deleting a profile does not stop the same person from joining with a new character. Conversely, banning a player does not reset their progress. If you need both outcomes, perform the access change and the save-file procedure as separate operations.

Get the required access
- You need administrator rights to run the console commands.
- You need access to the server’s save directory to erase files. On a hosted server, this is normally a control-panel file manager, FTP account, or a support operation available only to the account owner.
- A normal player connected through the game generally cannot reach the master save files on the host machine.
Stop the server and make a complete backup
Do not edit an active save. Stop the server cleanly from its control panel or service manager, then copy the entire save folder to a separate location. Include the world folder, players.xml, and the player-data directory. Label the backup with the date and server/world name so it can be identified if a restoration is needed.
File deletion is permanent from the server’s point of view. A backup is the only practical way to undo an accidental deletion, such as selecting another player’s identifier or the wrong world.
Warn the player about land claims
Removing a profile also removes that player’s land claims. Ask the player to remove or release claims first if ownership needs to be preserved. Once the profile files are gone, the claims cannot be recovered independently from the profile without restoring data from a backup.
Method A: remove access with console commands
Use the server console or its in-game administrator console. Identifiers can be a Steam ID, player name, or entity ID where the command accepts them. Names containing spaces may require the exact quoting or syntax supported by your build. Run help first and follow the syntax displayed by the server; command behavior can differ on modded or experimental builds.
Kick a player for the current session
Run:
kick <Steam ID | player name | entity ID> [message]
This disconnects the player and optionally sends the supplied message. It is temporary: a kicked player can reconnect immediately if no other restriction is in place. Kicking does not modify players.xml or any character files.

Manage an existing ban
Use the ban-management syntax exposed by your server build. The documented management commands are:

ban listdisplays current bans.ban remove <player>lifts a ban for the specified player.
The precise command for creating a ban is not identical across every build or modification, so do not copy an assumed syntax blindly. Enter help in the console and use the command form shown there. A ban controls access; it does not delete the player’s saved progress.
Remove administrator rights
Run:
admin remove <player>
This removes elevated permissions from the selected account. It leaves the account’s character, inventory, progression, and claims in the save. It is the appropriate action when the player should remain in the game but no longer administer the server.
Remove whitelist access
Run:
whitelist remove <name/id/steamid>
This removes the entry from the whitelist. A server that has no players left on its whitelist may disable whitelist enforcement, according to one hosting guide; check the status after the removal if whitelist-only access is important. As with a ban, this changes admission rather than saved character data.
Verify the result
Ask the player to disconnect and try the relevant action again, or inspect the ban and whitelist listings. If the player can reconnect after a kick, that is expected. If the player still has their old level, inventory, or base after an access change, that is also expected because no profile data was deleted.

Method B: wipe one player’s saved character
The following procedure removes persistent data for one account from the active world. Folder names differ by host and game version, so use the actual directory layout on your server rather than creating a path that is not present.
1. Stop the service and verify the active save
Stop the server, create the backup described above, and identify the world and save name that the server actually loads. Hosts may store several worlds or historical saves. Editing an inactive folder will appear to do nothing when the player joins the live world.
2. Open players.xml
Inside the save folder for the active world, open players.xml with a plain-text editor. Find the entry for the player and note its userid= value exactly, including capitalization and every character. Do not rely only on a display name: names can change, while the identifier is what ties the files to the profile.
3. Locate the player-data directory
Open the player-data folder beneath the current world and save. A newer-version hosting guide identifies a path ending in /userdata/Saves/; other hosts place the same data under a differently named save directory. Use the folder that contains the player files for the world you identified, not a global configuration directory.

4. Inspect filenames before deleting
Look for files whose names contain the exact player ID from players.xml. Guides disagree about the complete set: one describes three files sharing the ID, another specifically lists .ttp and .map files, and community reports also mention .bak files and filenames with an EOS prefix. Because the set varies by version and platform, compare the files that actually exist in your folder.

- Match the complete identifier, not a short fragment that could belong to another player.
- Keep unrelated players’ files untouched.
- Do not delete the whole player directory or the entire world save when the goal is one profile.
- If the host’s file manager hides extensions, enable full filenames before selecting anything.
5. Delete only the matching profile files
After confirming the ID and the active save, delete the files belonging to that ID. If the directory contains both live files and matching backup files, decide whether to retain a copy outside the live save before deletion; the server must not continue loading an old profile backup as if it were current data.
If you cannot tell which of several files belongs to the player, stop and ask the host to identify the format for that server version. Guessing can damage another player’s profile or leave the target’s data partly intact.
6. Optionally remove the player entry from players.xml
Some guides instruct administrators to remove the player’s entire line; another describes removing the complete block associated with that player. The XML structure depends on the version, so remove only the block that contains the confirmed userid, preserve valid XML syntax, and make the backup your rollback point. If you are not comfortable editing XML, leave the entry in place and test after the file deletion; do not remove unrelated entries or break the closing tags.
7. Start the server and test with the account
Restart the server and have the player connect. A successful wipe creates a new character rather than restoring the previous level, inventory, or claims. If the old character appears, stop again and check that you edited the live world, used the exact ID, removed every applicable matching file, and saved the XML change correctly.

Hosted server
The provider’s machine holds the authoritative save. Use its stop/start controls and file manager or FTP access, or open a support request that identifies the world, save name, and player ID. Do not ask the player to delete local game files: local files do not replace the server’s master profile.

Self-hosted dedicated server
Perform the same operation on the machine running the dedicated server. Stop the service, back up the save, edit the active world’s files, and restart. If automated backups or synchronization are enabled, pause them while editing so an old copy is not written back over the change.
Ordinary game client
A client can use console commands only when the account has the required administrator permission. It normally cannot browse or alter the host’s save directory. Ask the owner or administrator to perform a file wipe.

The player can still join after being kicked
That is normal. kick ends the current session only. Apply the server’s ban or whitelist control if the player must be prevented from reconnecting.
The player can join but still has the old character
- Confirm that the server loaded the world and save folder you edited.
- Compare the exact
useridinplayers.xmlwith the filenames you removed. - Check for all matching extensions in the player folder, including any
.bakor EOS-prefixed files present on that build. - Make sure the server was stopped before editing and restarted afterward.
- Check whether an automated backup restored the files during startup.
The player cannot join after the change
Review the console for XML or save-loading errors. Restore the backup if the server fails to load, then repeat the operation on a copy or ask the host to perform it. A malformed players.xml edit can prevent normal parsing even when the player files themselves are correct.
A ban will not clear with ban remove
First run ban list and verify that you are using the same identifier shown there. An older guide suggests editing admin.xml as a last-resort workaround, but that is not a supported deletion method and should not be attempted without a backup. Prefer the command syntax shown by help on the running build or ask the host to repair the ban data.
The player’s base or land claims are gone
That is an expected consequence of removing the profile. Restore the pre-change backup if the claims must be recovered; there is no separate claim-preservation step after the profile has been deleted.
Version and modification cautions
The available hosting guidance covers V3.x servers. Release notes cited for V3.1.0 and V3.2.0 report no console-command changes, but that does not guarantee identical behavior on every later, experimental, or modded build. Treat the command help shown by your own server as authoritative for syntax, and treat the files present in your own save directory as authoritative for the profile format.
Mods, platform identity systems, and EOS-style filename prefixes can change how a player is identified. Never copy a filename pattern from another server and assume it applies unchanged. Record the world name, player identifier, files removed, and backup location so another administrator can audit or undo the change.
