What is confirmed about GTA 6’s launch?
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, according to Rockstar and platform listings checked October 9, 2026. Those listings do not give a PC release date or list PC as a launch platform. If you are deciding whether to buy on day one, base the decision on a console you already own rather than assuming another platform or date.
The official story description follows Jason and Lucia in Leonida. After a failed score, the pair become involved in a criminal conspiracy. The US PlayStation Store identifies the product as a single-player experience. That confirms what the listing describes; it does not establish whether a separate online mode will be available at launch or what the finished game will be like to play.
Those distinctions matter because the most persuasive reasons to pay early are personal: you already have compatible hardware, the announced story appeals to you, and you accept the uncertainty of buying before independent reviews. The release date and listed features are not evidence of performance, review scores, or reception.

The listed difference is $20 in that US PlayStation Store snapshot. It is useful as a local comparison only if you are shopping in that storefront; it should not be applied to Xbox, another country, or a retailer whose price is different. The evidence does not establish Xbox edition prices.
Choose Standard if the extras are not already valuable to you
Standard is the lower-cost way to buy the game itself. Rockstar Support says a Standard owner can purchase the Ultimate Edition Upgrade after redeeming the game code. That option gives uncertain buyers a path to add the listed Ultimate extras later rather than paying the higher edition price in advance. Check the upgrade’s live price and terms before relying on it; the available official information here does not state those details.
Choose Ultimate only for extras you actively want
The Ultimate Edition adds listed in-game items, but no evidence here shows that those items are required for the main game. Treat the extra cost as payment for those extras, not as a requirement for access to the story. If you cannot name which items matter to you, Standard is the more conservative purchase.

Prices can vary by platform, country, retailer, tax treatment, and time. Before ordering, confirm the edition, platform, region, format, and total shown in the store you will use. The $79.99 and $99.99 figures above are tied specifically to the US PlayStation Store and its October 9, 2026 listing.

Rockstar Support states that the physical version is code-in-box: “A disc will not be included in the box.” In other words, buying the boxed version does not mean you receive a game disc. The package contains a download code, so consider whether you can download the game and whether a code fits your ownership and collection preferences.
- If you collect discs: A code-in-box package does not meet the usual expectation of owning a physical game disc.
- If your internet access is limited: A boxed code does not remove the need to download the game. Confirm that you can redeem and download it before purchasing.
- If you want the Vintage Vice City Pack: Rockstar says the physical Standard code-in-box version includes it. The inclusion of a pack does not change the package into a disc edition.
- If you buy digitally: Check the store page for the chosen edition and any current bonus terms. Do not assume a bonus will remain available after its stated window.
Retail packaging, listing language, and available formats can differ by seller or region. Read the item description carefully and ask the retailer to confirm “code-in-box” if the format is unclear; do not rely on the word “physical” alone.

Rockstar’s official pages promote a Vintage Vice City Pack preorder bonus. The PlayStation listing checked October 9, 2026 also includes a month of GTA+ with preorder and says the subscription auto-renews until canceled. Rockstar Support describes the qualifying bonus window as digital purchases made before November 20, 2026; PlayStation’s offer page has its own redemption and end terms.
These are offer details, not a reason to ignore the underlying purchase decision. Availability and conditions can vary by platform, region, purchase date, and whether you buy digitally or in a box. Confirm the current terms on the platform and Rockstar pages before treating a bonus as part of the value.
- Open the live listing for the exact platform and edition you plan to buy.
- Check whether the bonus applies to that format and purchase region, and note the qualifying purchase window.
- For any subscription offer, read the redemption instructions, offer end date, and renewal terms. The PlayStation listing says the included month auto-renews until canceled.
- Compare the offer with your reason for buying. If you would not buy the game without the bonus, do not treat a temporary promotion as proof that the game itself is worth the price.
Rockstar also promotes merchandise and a Vice City Collection. Those are optional collector items, not required game hardware or game editions, and their availability can change.

What should you wait to learn from reviews?
Because the scheduled launch is still in the future, the official product and store information available as of October 9, 2026 cannot settle launch quality. If you wait, look for evidence that answers your particular concern rather than relying on a headline score alone.
- Platform-specific performance: Look for testing on the console you own, not only footage or impressions from another platform. Check whether coverage describes the version and conditions being assessed.
- Finished-game experience: Reviews can assess how the completed story and gameplay compare with expectations. Marketing descriptions, including story copy, are not independent judgments.
