Rearrange your Galaxy’s Quick settings so the controls you use most are easy to reach, and try a long press on icons for shortcuts to additional options. The exact swipe gesture and editing steps depend on your One UI version, so start by identifying which panel layout your phone uses.
First, check how your Quick settings panel opens
Samsung changed the panel layout in One UI 7.0. On newer Galaxy phones and tablets, including the Galaxy S25 example in Samsung’s One UI 7 guide, swipe down from the top-right corner to open Quick settings. Notifications and Quick settings open separately by default, though you can choose a combined layout.
On devices running One UI 6.1.1 or earlier, swipe down from the top with two fingers to show Quick settings. Samsung’s panel instructions cover both layouts; menu labels and available options can vary by model.

On One UI 7 and newer, open Quick settings and tap the pencil-shaped Edit icon, then tap Edit. Touch and hold a button and drag it to the position you want, then tap Done. Samsung notes that the available-button area can span multiple panels, so swipe horizontally there if you do not see a control. See Samsung’s instructions for editing buttons.

On One UI 6.1.1 or earlier, open Quick settings, tap More options (three vertical dots), then choose Edit buttons. Touch and hold a button to move it, then tap Done. Samsung documents these steps in its Quick settings guide.
Choose positions based on your routine—for example, place a control you reach for often where it is easiest for you to tap. The practical benefit is less hunting through the panel; Samsung’s support material does not quantify time saved or taps avoided.

Look beyond the first page and try a long press
If a button is missing from the visible layout, swipe horizontally through the available buttons while editing. It may be on another panel rather than unavailable.
Touching and holding some Quick settings icons opens additional options or takes you to a related settings screen. Samsung gives Wi-Fi settings as an example; options may be unavailable or grayed out when the underlying feature is off. This behavior is documented in Samsung’s Quick settings instructions.

Choose separate or combined access to suit your habit
With One UI 7, Samsung provides separate Notifications and Quick settings views and a Together option for combining them. To change the arrangement, open Quick settings, tap the pencil-shaped Edit icon, and open Panel settings. Samsung’s One UI 7 guidance describes the layout choice; the exact option may vary by model.
- Choose separate views if you prefer notifications and controls to open independently.
- Choose Together if you prefer to see both in a combined panel.
- Consider how often you open Quick settings from the top-right corner, and use the arrangement your device actually offers.
This is a preference, not a guaranteed speed improvement. If the menu labels differ, check Samsung’s instructions for your specific Galaxy model and software version.

Keep brightness and media controls visible when useful
On older panel layouts, Samsung documents options to show the brightness control always or only when Quick settings is expanded. The older layout also provides visibility choices for Device control and Media output: always, when the panel is collapsed, or hidden. These settings can make frequent tasks easier to find, but menu names and choices may vary. On newer layouts, check the available Panel settings rather than expecting the same options. Resize controls only if your Galaxy supports it
Samsung’s One UI 8.5 guide for the Galaxy S26 series documents moving, adding, removing, and resizing individual controls. Resizing and orientation options depend on the control, so do not assume every Galaxy or every button supports them.
