Capture the same URL in the same browser and page state before and after the rename, changing only the name-related content that the comparison is meant to show. Keep the original files, label each capture’s date and state, and verify Salesforce’s current naming and brand guidance before publication. Salesforce’s screenshot rules apply when an image depicts Salesforce software; screenshots of your own website are a different case.
First, establish what changed and where
Make a short inventory of pages that display the former product name. For each page, record its exact URL, the former label, and the current official name using authoritative product material. Do not infer the new name from a third-party article. Note whether the page is your own website or Salesforce software: that distinction affects what edits are allowed.
- Capture the earlier state only if it is legitimately available and accurately represents the former product experience.
- Capture the updated state after the rename is live.
- Label each image with its capture date and state, such as “Before rename” and “After rename.”
Product names and brand assets can change. Recheck the current official name, assets, and guidance immediately before publishing.

Lock the conditions so the comparison is fair
For every before-and-after pair, use the same URL and page state. Keep the browser and version, viewport width and height, zoom, device scale, locale, authentication state, and relevant page or account content consistent. Record the date as well. These are practical controls for a comparable editorial image, not browser settings Salesforce prescribes.

Save the original image files and the checklist alongside them. If content changed for reasons unrelated to the rename, disclose that difference rather than implying the name was the only change.
Capture the images and preserve their context
- Open the recorded URL with the chosen browser, viewport, zoom, locale, and account state.
- Capture the earlier state only when it is an accurate, legitimate record of that experience; otherwise, do not fabricate a “before” image.
- Capture the live renamed state under the same conditions.
- Keep the original files. Crop only as needed for page layout, and retain enough context to identify the site and page.
- Add clear captions with each image’s date and state, then compare whether the name is legible and whether any unrelated visual differences could mislead readers.
Apply Salesforce brand, screenshot, and attribution rules where relevant
Use Salesforce’s current official name and approved assets. Salesforce Brand Central identifies the cloud logo as the primary logo choice; its horizontal logo is intended for layouts where space or composition limits the cloud logo and the name’s legibility. The published minimum digital widths are 40 pixels for the cloud logo and 96 pixels for the horizontal logo, with clear-space rules also specified. Check the current Salesforce Brand Central guidance before use; these are logo specifications, not general screenshot-size recommendations.

If your image depicts Salesforce software, Salesforce’s rules say the screenshot must accurately portray how the product works and must not be altered except for resizing or redacting sensitive information. The permitted purpose is educational tutorials or demonstrating a product’s integration with Salesforce. Avoid third-party content without permission, as well as identifiable people or personal information. See Salesforce Intellectual Property for current guidance.

Make the rename understandable to all readers
Use captions and surrounding text to say what changed, rather than relying on a logo alone. Write alt text that describes the meaningful difference between the images—for example, that a page heading shows the former product name in the earlier capture and the current name in the later one. Avoid alt text that merely says “logo” or repeats the caption without explaining the change.
If the rename concerns company branding inside a Salesforce app, consider accessibility separately from the screenshot. Salesforce describes the Lightning App header company logo as decorative and recommends descriptive app naming, app-page branding, or login-page customization when identity needs to be conveyed accessibly. Common problems to check before publishing
- The images look different beyond the product name: Check the recorded URL, viewport, zoom, device scale, locale, login state, and page content. If a difference cannot be corrected, explain it in the caption or surrounding text.
- The “before” image cannot be verified: Do not reconstruct an old state and present it as an authentic capture. Use a verified archived or retained image only when you can establish what it depicts.
- The new name or logo may be outdated: Recheck current product material and Salesforce Brand Central immediately before publication.
- A Salesforce software screenshot has been annotated or altered: Remove the alteration. Under Salesforce’s published rules, resizing and redacting sensitive information are the stated exceptions.
- The page exposes personal or third-party information: Do not publish it without appropriate permission; Salesforce’s screenshot guidance specifically cautions against third-party content without permission and identifiable people or personal information.
- The screenshot conveys the name only through a logo: Add clear captioning and meaningful alt text, and use accessible app naming or branding where the image reflects an in-app identity change.
