Godlike.Host offers hosted Arma 3 servers with its own game panel, SFTP access and free DDoS protection, if you would rather not host it yourself.
The most dependable way to join an Arma 3 server is Multiplayer → Server Browser → Direct Connect: enter the server’s IP address and port, then select Join. If you do not have an address, search the server browser by name. You can also save a known address in Steam’s Game Servers favorites for repeat visits.
Before connecting, confirm that the host reports the server as Online, copy the IP and port exactly, obtain the password if one is required, and install the same mods as the server. The default game port is UDP 2302; related server traffic normally uses UDP ports 2303 through 2306.

What you need before opening Arma 3
A successful connection depends on a few details that are outside the game client. Collect them first so you can distinguish an incorrect address from a server-side problem.
The server address and port
Ask the administrator for the server’s public IP address and game port. The default game port is 2302 over UDP, but a host can change the base port. Do not assume 2302 if the administrator supplied another value. Enter the address and port exactly as provided; a single wrong digit sends the connection to a different service or to nowhere.

The server’s status
The host should show the instance as Online in its control panel before you try to join. If the control panel says it is stopped, starting, or offline, changing settings on your computer will not make the server reachable. Ask the host to wait until the status is Online and then try again.
Password and capitalization
For a password-protected server, obtain the current password from the administrator. Arma 3 server passwords are case-sensitive, so preserve uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and punctuation exactly. Avoid adding a space before or after the password when you paste it.

You need the same mods installed as the server. A server can be visible in the browser while still refusing a player whose mod set does not match. Ask the administrator for the required collection and any required launch order, then enable those mods before joining. If you are unsure whether a mod is required, confirm with the host rather than guessing.
Game-version compatibility
Compatibility between your current Arma 3 version and a particular server was not established in the available documentation. If the address, password, and mods are correct but the connection still fails, ask the administrator which game version the server expects and whether it has any version-specific requirements.
Method 1: Direct Connect with an IP address and port
Direct Connect is the best fallback when a server does not appear in the public browser. It also avoids ambiguity when several servers have similar names.

- Launch Arma 3 and open Multiplayer.
- Open Server Browser.
- Select the Direct Connect tab.
- Enter the server’s IP address in the address field.
- Enter the supplied port. Use 2302 only when the host has confirmed the default port.
- If the server requires authentication, enter its password in the password field. Check capitalization before continuing.
- Click Join and wait for the connection attempt to complete.
How to verify what you entered
Read the address and port back against the administrator’s message character by character. Check that you did not copy a web address, a trailing space, or a port belonging to a different server instance. If the host runs several instances, each one can have a different base port, so the server name alone is not enough to identify the correct endpoint.

- The server is online but missing from the browser.
- The administrator gave you a precise IP-and-port combination.
- Several similarly named servers are listed.
- You want to bypass a stale or incomplete browser listing.
Method 2: Find the server by name in the browser
Use the server browser when you know the published name but do not have an IP address.
- Open Arma 3 and choose Multiplayer.
- Open Server Browser.
- Search for the server by the name supplied by its administrator.
- Review the results and select the matching entry. Compare the displayed name with the host’s instructions if more than one result looks similar.
- Click Join.
- Enter the password if the prompt appears, preserving its case.
A browser result is not proof that every requirement is satisfied. The server may still reject you for a password error or a mod mismatch. If the correct server is not listed, stop searching and use Direct Connect with the address and port from the host.
Method 3: Save the server in Steam Favorites
Steam’s Game Servers window can keep a known endpoint in a Favorites list, which is useful for a community server you revisit regularly. The exact wording can vary with the Steam client version, but the documented path is:
- Open Steam.
- Choose View → Game Servers.
- Open the Favorites tab.
- Choose the + button to add a server.
- Enter the server address and port supplied by the administrator, then save the entry.
- Use the saved entry when you want to connect again, and launch Arma 3 if Steam presents a join or launch option.
If your Steam client uses different labels, look for the Game Servers view, a Favorites tab, and an add-server control. Verify the saved port after adding it; saving the wrong port simply creates a persistent shortcut to the wrong endpoint. Favorites reduce retyping, but they do not replace the server’s password or mod requirements.

Arma 3 ports explained
Arma 3 uses a base game port plus related ports. The following mapping follows the Bohemia Interactive wiki’s labeling; the available reference was a search snippet rather than a full page, so treat the role names as medium-confidence when diagnosing an unusual host configuration.

Some hosting guides label these ports differently: one guide calls 2304 the Steam port and omits 2305, while another calls 2304 Voice. When labels conflict, use the Bohemia Interactive mapping above as the reference, and ask the administrator which ports are actually configured on that machine.
Non-default base ports
A host changes the base port with the -port= launch parameter. The related Steam and service ports follow the same offsets, so changing the base changes the whole sequence. For example, a base port of 2402 implies related ports at 2403, 2404, 2405, and 2406 under the same offset scheme. Players should use the base port explicitly supplied by the host rather than deriving one from an old bookmark.
Several instances on one machine
For multiple server instances on the same machine, the documented guidance is to space base ports at least 100 apart. A typical pair is 2302 and 2402, with each instance receiving its own five-port sequence. If two instances are closer together, their related ports can overlap and produce confusing reachability or query failures. The administrator must correct that layout; a client cannot work around overlapping host ports.

The host’s router and firewall must allow the server’s UDP traffic. Guides commonly recommend opening UDP 2302–2306 for a default-port instance. If the base port was changed, apply the same five-port offset to the new range. Port forwarding, firewall rules, and the server’s actual launch parameters must agree.

These are host-side settings. As a player, provide the administrator with the exact symptom and the address-and-port combination you used. The host should verify that the instance is Online, that the selected UDP range is allowed, and that the router forwards traffic to the machine running Arma 3. Opening ports on your own router does not expose someone else’s server.

The server does not appear in the browser
- Confirm with the administrator that the control panel reports Online.
- Ask for the exact IP address and base port.
- Try Multiplayer → Server Browser → Direct Connect instead of relying on the listing.
- Check that you are searching the complete server name and not a shortened nickname.
- If Direct Connect also fails, ask the host to verify its UDP range and router forwarding.
A missing listing and an unreachable endpoint are different problems. Direct Connect separates browser-discovery issues from basic network reachability.
Direct Connect times out or refuses the connection
- Recheck every digit in the IP address and the port.
- Make sure you used the server’s current base port, not a saved value from an earlier configuration.
- Have the host confirm that the instance is Online and listening on that port.
- Ask the host to check UDP firewall and router rules for the base port and its related ports.
- If the host runs multiple instances, ask whether their base ports are separated by at least 100.
If the administrator confirms all of those items, investigate the password and mod checks below before changing additional client settings.

The password is rejected
Passwords are case-sensitive. Re-enter it manually if a copied value may contain a leading or trailing space, and ask the administrator whether the password changed. Do not assume that a password accepted by one server instance applies to another instance on the same machine.
You are rejected for missing or mismatched mods
Compare your enabled mods with the host’s required list. Install any missing items, enable the same set, and retry. If the administrator specifies a particular collection or launch order, follow that instruction exactly. A server can be visible and reachable while still denying entry because the client’s mod set differs.

The server appears online but nobody can join
This pattern points toward a host-side configuration issue rather than a name-search problem. Ask the administrator to check the Online state, the -port= value, the corresponding UDP range, and router forwarding. If the host changed the base port, everyone must use the new base port for Direct Connect and update any Steam Favorite.
Only one of several host instances works
Check each instance’s base port and its four offset ports. Instances should be separated by at least 100 base-port numbers. A conflict can leave one entry visible while another is unreachable. The host must assign non-overlapping ranges and open those ranges in the firewall.
The connection fails after all network checks
Confirm the required mods one more time and ask which Arma 3 version the server expects. Current version compatibility for a specific server was not established in the available documentation, so the administrator is the appropriate source for that final check.
A practical decision path

Pre-join checklist
- The administrator says the server is Online.
- You have the current IP address and base port.
- You know whether a password is required and have copied its capitalization.
- Your installed and enabled mods match the server’s requirements.
- You know whether the host uses the default base port or a value set with
-port=. - If the browser does not list the server, you are ready to use Direct Connect.
With those items confirmed, choose the method that matches the information you have: Direct Connect for a precise endpoint, name search for a discoverable listing, or Steam Favorites for a saved endpoint.
