To print from a phone, connect the PIXMA G3270 to your wireless router, then connect the phone to that same network. Canon PRINT can guide setup on either iPhone or Android; iPhone and iPad can also use built-in AirPrint, while Android can use Mopria Print Service or Canon Print Service. If you do not have a router, Wireless Direct connects a phone straight to the printer, but the printer will not have internet access while that mode is active.
The G3270 is covered by Canon’s G3070-series online manual. Have your router’s network name (SSID) and password ready before starting. Canon’s G3270 support page lists the current mobile-printing options and model information.
What you need before setup
- The PIXMA G3270 powered on and idle. Wait for ink maintenance, print-head cleaning, or another printer operation to finish.
- The wireless router’s exact SSID and password. Passwords are case-sensitive.
- An iPhone, iPad, or Android phone with Wi‑Fi enabled.
- Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY if you want guided setup, scanning, or Canon’s app-based printing. Download it from the Canon app download page. App names, permissions, and supported phone operating systems can change, so check the current App Store or Google Play listing.
For normal router printing, the phone and printer must join the same local network. The G3270 supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi‑Fi and IEEE 802.11b/g/n/a/ac, so it is not limited to 2.4 GHz. Your router must still be configured to broadcast a band and security mode the printer can use.
Have the printer near the router for initial setup. You can move it to its permanent location after confirming a test print. Keep the router powered and avoid starting setup while the printer is displaying a paper, cover, ink, or maintenance error.

Choose the connection method
| Method | Best for | Network requirement | Important trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Canon PRINT | First-time setup, app printing, and scanning | Usually a router Wi‑Fi network; the app guides connection | Requires the Canon app, and phone compatibility can change with operating-system updates |
| AirPrint | Printing from iPhone or iPad without a separate print app | Phone and printer on the same LAN, or a supported direct connection | Some iOS apps do not offer AirPrint; Bonjour must be enabled in the printer’s LAN settings |
| Mopria Print Service | Android’s system print menu on compatible devices | Compatible service and normally the same Wi‑Fi network | Availability depends on the phone, Android version, and app |
| Canon Print Service | Android printing through a Canon plug-in | Plug-in enabled and phone and printer on the same Wi‑Fi | It is an Android-only plug-in; screens differ by phone and app |
| Wireless Direct | Printing where no router is available | Phone connects directly to the printer | The printer has no internet connection in this mode, and no more than five devices can connect at once |
Use Canon PRINT when you want one guided workflow for setup, printing, and scanning. Choose AirPrint when you use an iPhone or iPad and prefer not to install another print application. On Android, Mopria is convenient when it is already available in the system print menu; Canon Print Service is an alternative plug-in. Wireless Direct is a fallback for places without a usable router, not a replacement for a normal home network.
Connect the G3270 to your router with Canon PRINT
This is the most practical route if the printer has never joined your home network. Canon’s app can perform cableless setup when the phone is already connected to the wireless network you want the printer to use.
- Prepare the phone. Connect it to the intended home Wi‑Fi network, not cellular data or a guest network that isolates devices. Install and open Canon PRINT, and allow the local-network or nearby-device permissions it requests. If the app asks to use Bluetooth or local network discovery during setup, allow the requested access; otherwise it may not be able to locate the printer.
- Return the printer to its home screen. If an error screen is showing, press OK to clear it, then press HOME.
- Start Wi‑Fi setup on the printer. On the control panel select Settings > LAN settings > Wi‑Fi > Wi‑Fi setup. Depending on the current connection state, the network icon and available wording can look different.
- Use Easy Wireless Connect if it appears. The printer may display an Easy Wireless Connect prompt. Leave that prompt active and follow Canon PRINT’s add-printer instructions. If no prompt appears, remain in the Wi‑Fi setup menu and continue through the app’s printer-registration flow.
- Add the printer in Canon PRINT. Choose the add or register-printer option. Select the G3270 when it appears, choose your wireless router’s SSID, and enter the router password. The exact button labels can change between app versions, so follow the option that adds a new printer rather than assuming a particular screenshot or wording.
- Wait for the connection to complete. The printer may take a short time to leave setup mode and reconnect. Keep the phone near the router and printer during this process. When the app reports that the printer is registered, verify that the printer’s Wi‑Fi indicator is present on the HOME screen.
- Test from Canon PRINT. Select a photo or document in the app and send a small test job. A successful job confirms both printer registration and network communication.
Canon’s detailed app procedure is available in its support instructions for Easy Wireless Connect. The app and printer must be using the same active wireless network for ordinary network printing.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIf the app does not show the printer
Keep the app open while Easy Wireless Connect is active and make sure the phone has not automatically switched to another saved network. A guest SSID, corporate VLAN, or router setting that prevents devices from seeing one another can block discovery even when both devices show a Wi‑Fi connection. Temporarily use the main household SSID for setup, then test again. Do not assume that a successful internet connection proves that local printer discovery is working.
Print from an iPhone or iPad with AirPrint
AirPrint is the simplest iOS method once the G3270 has joined the router. You do not need to install Canon PRINT just to use AirPrint.
- Turn on the G3270 and allow it time to reconnect to Wi‑Fi.
- Load paper and place the correct size in the printer’s paper settings if the document uses a non-default size.
- Open the photo, document, email, web page, or other item you want to print.
- Tap the iOS Share or action button, then choose Print. In some apps, Print is in a secondary menu.
- Tap Select Printer or the printer field under Printer Options, and choose PIXMA G3270.
- Set copies, page range, color, or other options that the app exposes, then tap Print.
The iPhone or iPad and printer must be on the same LAN, unless you are using a supported direct connection. An app that does not implement AirPrint will not show Printer Options; try opening the file in an app that supports printing or use Canon PRINT instead.
If AirPrint cannot discover the G3270, confirm that Bonjour is enabled in the printer’s LAN settings. Also check that the phone has not moved to a different SSID, cellular data, or an isolated guest network. Canon lists AirPrint as a G3270 mobile-printing option on its product support page.

Print from Android
Canon PRINT
Canon PRINT provides app-based printing and scanning. Open the registered G3270 in the app, select the photo or document source, adjust the available settings, and send the job. It is also useful when Android’s system print menu does not expose all of the printer’s options.
Mopria Print Service
On a compatible Android phone, install or enable Mopria Print Service, connect the phone and G3270 to the same Wi‑Fi network, and use the document or photo app’s Print command. Select the Canon printer when the service displays available printers. The exact menu path varies by Android manufacturer and app; if Print is absent, look under Share, More, or the app’s overflow menu.
Canon Print Service
Canon Print Service is an Android-only plug-in. Canon’s instructions specify Android 4.4.2 or later. Install it from the phone’s app store, enable it in the phone’s printing settings, and ensure the phone and printer are on the same Wi‑Fi network. Then open a compatible app, choose its print action, select the G3270, set the available options, and submit the job. The plug-in may appear as a print service rather than a normal app icon.
If Android finds no printer, first open the print-service settings and verify that the relevant service is enabled. Then confirm the phone’s SSID matches the printer’s network; being connected to the same router hardware is not enough if one device is on a separated guest network.

Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Use Wireless Direct when there is no router
Wireless Direct creates a direct Wi‑Fi connection between the phone and G3270. It is useful in a temporary location, during router maintenance, or where no local network exists.
- On the printer, open the LAN or Wi‑Fi settings and enable Wireless Direct.
- On the phone, open Wi‑Fi settings and select the network name broadcast by the printer. Enter the password shown or configured for Wireless Direct.
- Open Canon PRINT and follow its prompts to add or use the printer over the direct connection.
- Print from the app. When finished, disconnect the phone from the printer’s direct network and reconnect it to your normal Wi‑Fi if you need internet access.
Wireless Direct is not the same as connecting the printer to a router. While it is active, the G3270 has no internet connection. The phone may switch to mobile data, which can use your cellular allowance. Canon limits Wireless Direct to five connected devices at the same time. Because the phone is connected directly to the printer rather than to your household LAN, other computers and phones on the router will not automatically share that direct connection.
Troubleshoot a phone that cannot find the G3270
Work through these checks in order. They address the common causes without immediately erasing the printer or resetting the router.

1. Confirm power and readiness
- Check that the printer, router, and phone are powered on.
- If all three were already on, power-cycle them: turn off the printer, restart the router, wait for the router’s Wi‑Fi to return, then restart the printer and phone.
- Make sure the printer is not paused on an error, paper, or maintenance screen.
2. Check Wi‑Fi on both devices
Wi‑Fi must be enabled on the phone. On the printer’s HOME screen, check for the Wi‑Fi or network icon. A missing or altered icon can indicate that the printer is offline or still reconnecting.
3. Match the SSID and password
Compare the network name shown in the phone’s Wi‑Fi settings with the network name configured on the printer. A typo, changed password, or accidental connection to a similarly named 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz SSID can prevent discovery. For the cleanest setup, use one consistent SSID and ensure the router has the bands enabled. Do not disable router security as a routine troubleshooting step.
4. Improve signal quality
Temporarily move the printer closer to the router. Reduce walls, cabinets, large appliances, and other obstructions between them, and avoid placing the printer immediately beside equipment that can cause radio interference. After moving it, wait for the Wi‑Fi indicator to return and try discovery again.
5. Repeat setup after router changes
If you replaced the router, changed its SSID or password, changed wireless settings, or installed a new mesh system, run the G3270’s Wi‑Fi setup again. The printer does not automatically know the credentials of a replacement network.
6. Print the network settings for diagnosis
To inspect what the printer believes its network configuration to be, select Settings > LAN settings > Print details, confirm the request, and choose whether the printout includes passwords. Canon documents this process in the G3070-series network-settings guide. Treat the sheet as sensitive: it can contain the network name, address information, and, if selected, passwords. Do not leave it in a public place or photograph it for sharing.

7. Use Canon’s computer diagnostic utility if available
If basic checks do not restore discovery and you have a computer on the same network, Canon’s Wi‑Fi Connection Assistant can diagnose or repair network settings. Use it before attempting a router factory reset or erasing the printer, because those actions create additional setup work and may not address a phone-to-printer discovery problem.
Fix jobs that appear to send but do not print
- Check the selected printer. Phones can retain an old or offline printer entry. Remove or deselect stale entries and choose the currently connected PIXMA G3270.
- Check the phone’s network after waking it. A phone may leave Wi‑Fi for mobile data or another saved network. Reconnect to the SSID used by the printer.
- Check paper and printer status. A network job can arrive successfully but wait because of an empty tray, paper-size mismatch, cover-open condition, or another printer alert.
- Allow reconnection time. After switching the printer on or changing its network, wait for its Wi‑Fi indicator before submitting the job.
- Try a small document. A simple one-page test distinguishes a network problem from a large file, unsupported format, or app-specific printing issue.
Privacy, permissions, and supply reminders
Canon PRINT and mobile print services may request local-network, nearby-device, or storage/photo permissions so they can discover the printer and access the file you selected. Grant only the permissions needed for the feature you are using, and review them if you stop using the app. Keep network-settings printouts private because they can expose credentials.

Use router Wi‑Fi for a normal home or office arrangement. It lets multiple phones and computers reach the printer through the same local network and keeps the printer’s normal internet-connected network environment available. Use Wireless Direct when there is no suitable router or you need a temporary point-to-point connection. Remember that Wireless Direct supports up to five devices and removes the printer’s internet access while active.
Frequently asked questions
Does the G3270 work only with 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi?
No. Canon lists both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless LAN support, along with IEEE 802.11b/g/n/a/ac. Make sure the phone and printer are using the same SSID during setup.
Can I print from an iPhone without Canon PRINT?
Yes. AirPrint is built into compatible iPhone and iPad workflows. Put both devices on the same LAN, choose Share, Print, and the PIXMA G3270. Bonjour must be enabled for AirPrint discovery, and the source app must support AirPrint.
Why does my phone see Wi‑Fi but not the printer?
A Wi‑Fi connection alone does not guarantee local discovery. Check for different SSIDs, guest-network isolation, a missing printer Wi‑Fi icon, weak signal, or a router change. Then repeat setup and try Canon’s Wi‑Fi Connection Assistant from a computer if available.
Can Wireless Direct provide internet to the printer?
No. Wireless Direct connects phones directly to the printer and leaves the printer without internet access while active. Up to five devices can connect. Rejoin the normal router network when you need ordinary internet access.

Should I reset the router if setup fails?
Not as a first step. Confirm power, Wi‑Fi, SSID, password, signal, and printer status; repeat setup after router changes. Print the network details or use Wi‑Fi Connection Assistant before considering a factory reset.
Where to get current Canon instructions
Connection screens depend on the printer’s current state, phone operating system, app version, and router configuration, so labels may not exactly match older screenshots. Canon’s PIXMA G3270 support page is the appropriate starting point for current model documentation, drivers, and mobile-printing information. For the latest Canon PRINT download and compatibility details, use Canon’s official app portal.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do the phone and printer have to use the same Wi‑Fi network?
Yes for ordinary router printing. Put both on the same local network and avoid guest networks that isolate devices. Wireless Direct is the separate no-router exception.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Can five phones use Wireless Direct at once?
Canon specifies a maximum of five connected devices while Wireless Direct is active.
Why is AirPrint missing from an iPhone app?
The app may not support AirPrint. Try the app’s Share or More menu, open the file in an AirPrint-compatible app, or use Canon PRINT.
What should I do after changing my router password?
Run the G3270 Wi‑Fi setup again with the new SSID or password, then reconnect the phone to that same network.
The Bottom Line
For the normal setup, connect the G3270 through Settings > LAN settings > Wi‑Fi > Wi‑Fi setup, finish registration in Canon PRINT, and keep the phone on the same router network. Use AirPrint on iPhone or iPad, Mopria or Canon Print Service on Android, and Wireless Direct only when no router is available. If discovery fails, check power, SSID, signal, printer status, and router changes before resetting anything.
