Plug in the soundbar and subwoofer, then turn on the soundbar; they should pair automatically. A steady blue LINK light on the subwoofer confirms the connection. If it keeps blinking, use the model-specific ID SET procedure below.
Connect the subwoofer automatically
- Connect both the soundbar and subwoofer to power and plug them into wall outlets.
- Turn on the soundbar and give the subwoofer a chance to connect.
- Check the subwoofer’s blue LINK indicator. When it stops blinking and stays lit, the connection is established, according to Samsung US support.
A blinking LINK light means the connection is not yet confirmed. If it does not settle, proceed to manual pairing.
Pair manually with ID SET
The exact ID SET control sequence varies by soundbar model. Some bars have an ID SET button; others require the remote. Follow your model’s user manual if its instructions differ from the general Samsung US sequence.

- Leave both devices plugged in and turn the soundbar off.
- Press and hold ID SET on the subwoofer. If the button is recessed, use a small pointed object. Release it when STANDBY turns off and the blue LINK light begins blinking quickly.
- With the soundbar still off, invoke ID SET using the soundbar’s button or the appropriate remote sequence. Samsung US advises holding Mute; if that does not work, try Up. Do not assume either button applies to every model.
- When ID SET appears, turn on the soundbar while the subwoofer’s blue light is still blinking.
- Wait for the LINK indicator to become solid blue. If it continues blinking, turn off the soundbar and repeat the procedure from the ID SET step.
If the subwoofer will not connect
LINK light keeps blinking
- Check that the soundbar’s power cable is securely connected. Samsung Australia says to allow recovery time; its support guidance mentions waiting about five minutes. If the light continues blinking, try manual pairing.
- Try a power reconnection: leave the soundbar plugged in and active, disconnect only the subwoofer, wait five seconds, then reconnect it. This is the recovery procedure described by Samsung US support.
- If the remote-button sequence does not match your soundbar or fails, look up the exact model’s user manual rather than repeating a sequence intended for another model.
LINK is solid, but there is no bass
- Check that the soundbar and source volume are not muted or set too low.
- Confirm the TV’s audio output is set to the soundbar and reseat the relevant cable connection.
Red and blue lights blink together
Samsung Australia identifies simultaneous red and blue blinking of the LINK and STANDBY indicators as a malfunction and advises contacting a Samsung service centre.

Check compatibility before replacing equipment
These pairing steps describe a general method, not a guarantee that every Samsung subwoofer works with every Samsung soundbar. For a replacement subwoofer or remote, verify compatibility with the exact soundbar model and regional variant. Samsung’s support pages direct owners to the model manual or Samsung support when the generic procedure does not resolve the problem.
