Turn on Bluetooth on the Lenovo tablet, put the speaker or headphones into pairing mode, select the accessory in the tablet’s available-device list, and tap Pair if Android asks for confirmation. The exact menu names vary by Android version, but the pairing sequence is the same.
This guide covers Lenovo Android tablets in a model-agnostic way. It explains the normal first-time setup, faster alternatives, reconnection, and the checks that matter when a speaker or headset does not appear. Because Lenovo tablets ship with different Android versions and accessories use different pairing controls, your screen or button sequence may not exactly match an example here.
What you need before pairing
- A Lenovo tablet with Bluetooth enabled. Android settings labels and locations can differ by version.
- A Bluetooth speaker or headphones that are powered on. The accessory must support Bluetooth audio.
- Pairing mode on the accessory. The button, indicator, and hold time are model-specific; the accessory’s user guide is the authority.
- A short, unobstructed distance for setup. Lenovo advises keeping the tablet and accessory within 1 meter and avoiding walls or metal objects between them while pairing.
- The accessory free from another connection. If it is connected to a phone, computer, or another tablet, disconnect it there before trying to pair it with the Lenovo tablet.
Pairing is different from merely turning Bluetooth on. The tablet can only list an accessory that is discoverable, and most speakers and headphones become discoverable only while their pairing mode is active. A device that is simply switched on may be waiting to reconnect to its last phone or computer instead of advertising itself to a new tablet.
Pair a speaker or headphones through Android Settings
Use this route when setting up the accessory for the first time or when a Fast Pair notification does not appear.

- Open Settings on the Lenovo tablet. Look for Connected devices, then Connection preferences, then Bluetooth. Lenovo documents this as an example route, not a universal map; another Android build may show Bluetooth directly under Connected devices or under a similarly named connections section.
- Switch Bluetooth on. The tablet begins looking for nearby discoverable devices. Leave the Bluetooth page open while you prepare the accessory.
- Power on the speaker or headphones. Follow that product’s manual to enter pairing mode. A normal power-on state is not always pairing mode; the accessory may require a separate button press or a longer hold.
- Wait for the accessory’s name to appear in the tablet’s available-device list. Use the exact name or model label shown by the accessory rather than choosing an unfamiliar device.
- Tap the accessory name. If Android displays a confirmation dialog, tap Pair. The Lenovo support instructions describe this name-selection and Pair confirmation sequence.
- Allow the connection to finish. The accessory should move from the available-device area to the saved or paired-device area. If it does not, leave both devices close together and repeat the accessory’s pairing-mode procedure.
Do not close the tablet’s Bluetooth page before selecting the accessory. A speaker or headset can stop advertising itself after leaving pairing mode, especially if it has connected to another device in the meantime. If Android asks for a confirmation code or another approval, follow the prompt shown for that accessory; the exact prompt depends on the devices involved.
Use Quick Settings to reach Bluetooth
Android also provides a shortcut from Quick Settings. This is useful after the first setup or when you do not remember the full Settings path.
- Swipe down from the top of the tablet screen to open Quick Settings.
- Press and hold the Bluetooth control. A short tap may only toggle Bluetooth; holding it opens the Bluetooth controls.
- Choose Pair new device when that option is shown.
- Put the speaker or headphones into pairing mode, select its name, and confirm Pair if prompted.
The wording and arrangement of Quick Settings depend on the Android version and Lenovo interface. If holding the control does not expose a pairing option, open Settings and use the Connected devices route instead. Quick Settings is only an alternate way to reach the same Bluetooth controls; it does not remove the need to make the accessory discoverable.
How to put the accessory into pairing mode
Headphones and earbuds
Turn the headphones on, then use the pairing control specified in their manual. Some products enter pairing mode automatically during first setup; others require a dedicated Bluetooth button or a press-and-hold. Do not infer the correct hold time from another model. Wait for the product’s pairing indication, then look for its name on the tablet.
If the headphones have already been used with another phone, tablet, or computer, first disconnect them from that device. Otherwise they may reconnect there immediately and disappear from the Lenovo tablet’s scan. After disconnecting, repeat the model’s pairing-mode procedure rather than assuming that a regular power cycle has made the headphones discoverable.
Bluetooth speakers
Power on the speaker and activate its Bluetooth pairing function according to its manual. A speaker may remember a prior tablet or phone and try to reconnect instead of becoming discoverable. Disconnect it from that other device first, then put it back into pairing mode before searching on the Lenovo tablet.
Lenovo’s support guidance summarizes the essential condition: “Make sure the Bluetooth device (such as a speaker) is powered on and in pairing mode.” The statement applies to both speakers and headphones: powered on does not necessarily mean ready for a new pairing.
Reconnect an accessory you already paired
After the first successful pairing, Android normally saves the accessory. On later days, turn on Bluetooth and power on the speaker or headphones. A previously paired device may reconnect automatically. If it does not:
- Open the tablet’s Bluetooth controls through Settings or Quick Settings.
- Find the accessory in the saved or paired-device list.
- Select its name to request a connection.
- Wait for Android to show it as connected before starting playback.
If the name is absent from the saved list, the tablet may be using a different Android profile, the device may have been removed, or the accessory may have been reset. Put the accessory into pairing mode and use Pair new device again. If the name is present but marked only as saved or paired, selecting it requests a fresh connection; pairing and connecting are related but distinct steps.

Automatic reconnection is not guaranteed every time. The accessory might be off, out of range, connected to another source, or waiting in a mode that does not reconnect automatically. Use the saved-device entry rather than starting a new pairing every time when the accessory is already listed.
Try Fast Pair when the accessory supports it
Some compatible accessories can use Android’s Fast Pair flow. Instead of manually opening the device list, a notification offers the setup when the accessory is nearby and discoverable.
Google specifies these prerequisites for Fast Pair:
| Requirement | What it means |
|---|---|
| Android version | The tablet runs Android 6.0 or later. |
| Tablet settings | Bluetooth and Location are enabled. |
| Accessory | The speaker or headphones support Fast Pair. |
| Proximity | The accessory is powered on and close enough for the notification to appear. |
Tap the Fast Pair notification and follow its on-screen instructions. If no notification appears, that does not prove the tablet’s Bluetooth is broken. The accessory may not support Fast Pair, Location may be off, or the Android build may not provide the feature. Use the regular Bluetooth settings procedure instead. Fast Pair is a convenience layer, not a requirement for ordinary Bluetooth audio pairing.
Fast Pair availability also depends on the accessory being in its discoverable setup state. A device that has already connected elsewhere may not trigger the notification until it is disconnected and returned to pairing mode.
Why the Lenovo tablet cannot find the speaker or headphones
Bluetooth is off or the device is not discoverable
Confirm that Bluetooth is on in the tablet’s Settings or Quick Settings. Then confirm that the accessory is in its active pairing mode, not merely powered on. Leave the Bluetooth scan page open while re-entering pairing mode on the accessory. The accessory manual determines the correct control and timing.

For setup, place the accessory within 1 meter of the tablet. Lenovo specifically advises avoiding walls and metal objects between them. Move both devices into the same open area and search again. Once pairing succeeds, normal use may work at a greater distance, but the 1-meter instruction is the relevant check when the accessory will not appear.
The accessory is connected somewhere else
Check nearby phones, tablets, and computers. Disconnect the speaker or headphones from those devices before searching on the Lenovo tablet. A product that automatically reconnects elsewhere may stop advertising itself to the Lenovo tablet, so simply leaving it powered on is not enough. If several previously paired devices are nearby, temporarily turn Bluetooth off on the competing device while you complete setup.
The accessory name appears, but tapping it fails
Return the accessory to pairing mode and try again with both devices close together. If another device captured the connection, disconnect it there first. Confirm that you selected the intended model name, then accept Android’s Pair prompt when it appears. A failed attempt does not necessarily mean the accessory is incompatible; it can mean that pairing mode timed out or another source connected first.

The menu labels do not match these instructions
Android discovery and pairing screens differ by version and supporting hardware. Search Settings for Bluetooth or Connected devices, and use the tablet’s own manual when the route differs. Lenovo’s Connected devices → Connection preferences → Bluetooth path is an example for some builds, not a promise that every Lenovo tablet uses those exact labels.
The tablet and accessory still will not pair
Verify the accessory’s Bluetooth support and consult both manuals for model-specific requirements. Android’s general guidance notes that some discovery steps depend on the Android version and hardware. There is no universal guarantee that every Bluetooth speaker or headset works with every Lenovo tablet, and the available support material does not establish a compatibility matrix for particular tablet generations, codecs, or accessory models.
At this point, repeat the basic checks in a controlled order: Bluetooth on, accessory powered on, accessory actively in pairing mode, both devices within 1 meter, no wall or metal obstruction, and no connection to another source. This avoids changing several conditions at once and makes it clear which step changes the result. If the controls or requirements remain unclear, the exact tablet and accessory manuals take priority over a generic Android path.
What to check after pairing
Return to the Bluetooth page and confirm that the speaker or headphones are listed as a saved or paired device. For subsequent sessions, select that saved name if automatic reconnection does not occur. If Android instead shows the accessory as available, it is not currently connected; select it to request a new connection.
When a connection attempt repeatedly fails, use the same sequence in order: accessory powered on, accessory actively in pairing mode, tablet Bluetooth on, devices within 1 meter, no wall or metal obstruction, and no competing connection to another phone or computer. This order eliminates the conditions Lenovo identifies before you investigate version-specific behavior.
Recommended Free Tools
Keep the accessory’s model name in mind when more than one Bluetooth device appears. Selecting a nearby but unfamiliar device can lead to a failed attempt or an unintended connection. The name shown by Android should correspond to the speaker or headphones you are intentionally setting up.
Multipoint: using headphones with two Bluetooth sources
Multipoint is an optional headphone feature, not part of ordinary Bluetooth pairing. It allows supported headphones to maintain Bluetooth connections with two audio sources, such as a Lenovo tablet and another device.
| Multipoint condition | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Headphones | The headphones themselves support two-device Bluetooth connections. |
| Android | The tablet runs Android 8 or newer. |
| Services | Google Play Services is available as required by the feature. |
| Setup state | The headphones are connected to both audio sources. |
Pairing the headphones with the Lenovo tablet does not automatically create a Multipoint connection. The feature depends on the headphone hardware and the software requirements above. If either source is not connected, Multipoint behavior cannot be assumed. A standard headset that supports only one active Bluetooth connection can still pair normally with the Lenovo tablet; it simply cannot maintain two source connections at once.
Audio switch: automatic movement between sources
Audio switch is another optional feature. Google says it works on devices running Android 8 or later with Google Play Services when supported headphones are connected through Fast Pair to the same Google Account on each audio source.

| Audio Switch condition | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Android version | Android 8 or later on the participating device. |
| Services | Google Play Services. |
| Headphones | They support Audio switch and are connected through Fast Pair. |
| Account | The same Google Account is used on each audio source. |
These requirements explain why a normally paired headset may not switch automatically between devices. Standard Bluetooth pairing remains available even when Fast Pair, Multipoint, or Audio switch is unsupported. Do not treat the absence of automatic switching as evidence that the initial Lenovo tablet pairing failed.
Model and version limitations
This procedure is intentionally model-agnostic because Lenovo tablets use multiple Android releases and hardware configurations. The support material does not identify one tablet generation, Android build, headphone model, Bluetooth codec, or accessory compatibility list. Treat every menu path as a guide to the relevant Bluetooth controls rather than an exact promise about your screen.
For a model-specific answer, check the tablet’s specifications for Bluetooth support and read the speaker or headphones manual for pairing mode, simultaneous-connection limits, and any Fast Pair requirements. If those documents disagree with a generic Android label, follow the instructions for your exact tablet and accessory. The accessory manual is especially important for the pairing button, indicator behavior, and hold time because those details vary by product.

Make sure the speaker is powered on and actively in pairing mode, not merely switched on. Move it within 1 meter of the tablet, avoid obstructions, and disconnect it from any phone, computer, or other tablet. Then search again with the tablet’s Bluetooth page open.
Does the accessory need to be disconnected from my phone first?
Yes, if it is connected there. Lenovo recommends disconnecting the accessory from another device before pairing. Otherwise it may reconnect to that source and remain undiscoverable to the Lenovo tablet.
What if I cannot find “Connected devices”?
Settings labels vary by Android version. Search Settings for Bluetooth, check a connections section with a similar name, or open Quick Settings and press and hold the Bluetooth control. Lenovo’s Connected devices → Connection preferences → Bluetooth path is an example, not a universal menu map.
Will a previously paired speaker reconnect automatically?
It may. Android can reconnect a saved accessory after Bluetooth and the accessory are turned on. If it does not, open the saved or paired-device list and select the accessory name. If it is no longer listed, pair it again.

Can any Lenovo tablet use Multipoint or Audio switch?
Do not assume so. Multipoint requires headphones that support two-device connections, Android 8 or newer, Google Play Services, and connections to both audio sources. Audio switch requires Android 8 or later with Google Play Services, supported headphones connected through Fast Pair, and the same Google Account on each source.
Does every Bluetooth speaker work with every Lenovo tablet?
No universal compatibility guarantee applies. Confirm Bluetooth support in the tablet specifications and consult the accessory manual. Android version, supporting hardware, and accessory features can affect discovery and optional functions.
A reliable pairing sequence to remember
The essential sequence is short: enable Bluetooth on the Lenovo tablet; power on the speaker or headphones and put them into pairing mode; select the accessory’s name from available devices; and confirm Pair when Android asks. If the name does not appear, move the devices within 1 meter, remove walls or metal obstructions, and disconnect the accessory from other connected devices before searching again. For later sessions, select the saved device if it does not reconnect automatically.
