Use only the regulator, hose and cylinder connector specified for your exact pizza oven and local LPG system. Set the oven up outdoors, keep the burner control off, connect the approved assembly exactly as its manual describes, then pressurise the line and test every joint with soapy water or LPG leak-detection fluid. Never test with a flame. If bubbles grow or gas odour persists, shut off the supply, do not light the oven, and contact your gas supplier or a qualified gas service provider.
Fittings are not universal. Manuals can differ on connector type, pressure, locking method and even the direction used to attach a regulator. Without the oven model, country and cylinder type, no safe article can tell you a single thread direction or fitting that will work for everyone.
What you need to know before connecting anything
A pizza oven that burns LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) depends on a matched system: cylinder, regulator, hose, oven inlet and burner controls. The regulator reduces cylinder pressure to the pressure the burner is designed to use; the hose and connectors must be approved for LPG and for the appliance. A part that looks similar can still be unsafe if its pressure, thread, seal or local approval is different.

- Confirm the permitted gas type, regulator outlet pressure, hose specification and cylinder connection.
- Check which connector is required in your country. The same oven family can use different fittings in different markets.
- Use an undamaged, LPG-approved regulator and hose. Do not rely on a part simply because it fits another appliance.
- Have the cylinder, regulator and hose instructions available; the regulator instructions can add steps that are not in the oven manual.
If any of those details are missing, stop and ask the cylinder supplier or a qualified LPG technician to identify a compatible assembly. Do not improvise an adapter or substitute a generic regulator.

Why there is no universal pizza-oven connection
Gas-bottle connections are regional as well as model-specific. The Gino manual, for example, describes both a push-on patio-gas regulator and a counterclockwise POL regulator, with the applicable arrangement depending on the country. Those examples show why a direction or connector quoted for one oven cannot be treated as a rule for another.
Cozze guidance likewise requires a regulator and hose approved for LPG at the pressures specified for the appliance and says to comply with local requirements. The manuals do not establish one pressure, thread or cylinder valve for every pizza oven. Read the exact instructions for your oven and cylinder system before you handle the connection.
Prepare a safe outdoor work area
Keep the appliance and cylinder outside
Use a gas pizza oven outdoors in the location and clearances stated by its manual. The cited Cozze manual specifies outdoor use and says the cylinder must be outside, away from the appliance. Never move an LPG cylinder into a kitchen, garage, shed or other enclosed space for connection or operation. Gas can collect at low points and an ignition source may be far from the leak.

Stabilise and orient the cylinder
Place the cylinder on a stable, level surface in the orientation required by the cylinder manufacturer and oven manual. Keep it away from hot surfaces, flames, vehicle traffic and places where it could be knocked over. Do not rest the cylinder on its side unless its own instructions explicitly allow that position.
Keep ignition sources away
Put out cigarettes, candles and other flames before opening the cylinder. Do not operate electrical switches or create sparks near a suspected leak. If you already smell gas, do not begin a connection or leak test; follow the emergency steps below.

Inspect the equipment before connection
With the burner control off and the cylinder valve closed, examine every part in the gas path:
- Cylinder valve: It should be clean, undamaged and compatible with the regulator.
- Regulator: Check its LPG marking, outlet pressure and connector against the oven manual. Look for cracks, corrosion or a damaged seal.
- Hose: Reject hoses with cuts, abrasions, bulges, flattened sections, stiff or brittle rubber, heat damage or damaged end fittings. A kink can restrict flow and damage the hose.
- Oven inlet and control area: Remove dirt and inspect threads, sealing surfaces and the inlet for damage. Do not dismantle the burner or valve to correct a connection problem.
Do not use any component that is damaged, out of date under local rules, contaminated or of uncertain origin. Replace it with a part approved for the specific oven, cylinder, pressure and jurisdiction.
Step-by-step: connect the gas bottle to the oven
- Identify the approved assembly. Use the rating plate and manual to establish the gas type, regulator pressure, hose specification and connection method. Verify the cylinder valve matches the regulator. If the manual and the parts disagree, do not connect them; ask the supplier or a qualified service provider.
- Position the oven and cylinder outdoors. Observe the manual’s clearances and ventilation requirements. Keep the cylinder outside and separated from the hot appliance as specified by the manual.
- Turn the burner control off. Set every oven burner control to its off position before connecting or opening the gas supply. Keep it off throughout the leak test.
- Close the cylinder valve. Follow the cylinder instructions to make sure the valve is shut before you attach the regulator. Do not force a valve that will not operate normally.
- Connect the regulator to the cylinder. Use the locking or threaded method stated in the regulator and oven instructions. Some systems use a push-on patio regulator; others use a POL-style connection. Do not assume the tightening direction from another appliance, and never force a cross-threaded connector.
- Connect the hose to the oven inlet. Attach the hose exactly as the oven manual specifies and secure any approved clamp or coupling. Do not stretch the hose, route it across a hot surface or use an unapproved adapter.
- Check the route. The hose should not be kinked, pinched, under tension or touching areas that can become hot. Keep it clear of sharp edges and places where people may trip over it.
- Prepare leak-detection solution. Use the soap-and-water mixture named by the oven manual or a purpose-made LPG leak-detection fluid. A small brush or spray bottle makes it easier to wet joints evenly; these tools do not replace correct parts or the prescribed procedure.
- Open the gas supply only as directed. With the burner control still off, open the cylinder valve or regulator in the sequence given by the manual. Do not open the burner to speed up the test.
- Test before ignition. Apply solution to every joint, inspect for growing bubbles, and keep the burner off. Proceed to lighting only after all connections remain bubble-free and there is no gas odour.
Because connector designs differ, the manual’s sequence takes priority over this general order. If a step in your manual conflicts with a generic description, follow the manual for that model.
How to check the hose and every joint for leaks
Apply the solution to the complete gas path
Wet the cylinder-to-regulator joint, the regulator outlet, both hose ends, any hose-to-oven coupling, and the oven inlet or valve connection that the manual identifies. Cover the whole sealing area rather than placing one drop on the visible side. If your manual identifies additional joints, test those too.
Read the bubbles correctly
A thin film or a bubble that stays the same size can be caused by the application itself. A leak produces bubbles that grow, multiply or continue to emerge while the line is pressurised. Treat any growing bubbles as escaping gas. Do not wipe the solution away and continue operating.

A match, lighter or burner flame can ignite escaping LPG and cause a fire or explosion. Bubble testing is the required alternative.
Depressurise and clean up after a clear test
Once every joint has remained bubble-free for the inspection period specified by the manual, close the cylinder if you are not proceeding immediately. Wipe residue from connectors if the manual recommends it. A leak test does not authorise operation if the hose, regulator or cylinder is otherwise damaged.
When to perform a leak test
Test before the first use of the oven. The Gino manual also specifies testing after every cylinder refill and whenever the hose or regulator has been disconnected from the cylinder or oven. Cozze guidance calls for checking for leaks before use. As a safe working rule, repeat the test after every reconnection, replacement or adjustment and follow any additional schedule in your own manual.
| Situation | Required action |
|---|---|
| First installation | Complete a bubble test before lighting the oven. |
| After a cylinder refill or exchange | Reconnect the approved assembly and test all joints again. |
| Hose or regulator disconnected | Test the cylinder joint, hose ends and oven inlet before use. |
| Any change, impact or suspected damage | Keep the gas off until the parts have been inspected and a leak test passes. |
| Before routine use | Follow the oven manual; at minimum, do not operate if you smell gas or see damage. |
What to do if bubbles appear
- Shut off the supply immediately. Close the cylinder valve or regulator as safely as possible. Keep the burner control off.
- Do not light or use the oven. A bubble is evidence that gas is escaping from the connection or component.
- Allow the area to ventilate outdoors. Keep people away from the connection and avoid ignition sources.
- Identify the location without touching a damaged part. Note whether the bubbles are at the cylinder valve, regulator seal, hose end or oven inlet.
- Correct only a simple connection issue that the manufacturer authorises. For example, the manual may permit disconnecting, cleaning a sealing surface and reconnecting correctly. Do not keep tightening in the hope that a damaged fitting will seal.
- Retest after any permitted correction. Reapply the solution with the supply pressurised and the burner off.
- Escalate a persistent leak. If bubbles remain, a component is damaged, or the leak appears to be at the cylinder valve, leave the gas off and contact the gas supplier or a qualified gas service provider.
Do not repair a cylinder valve yourself, replace seals with improvised materials or operate while a leak remains.

What to do if you smell gas
Gas odour is a stop condition even if you cannot see bubbles. Turn off the gas only if it is safe to do so, do not operate switches or flames, and move away from the oven and cylinder. If the smell continues after shutdown, keep people away and call the local gas supplier from a safe location. Do not return to use the oven until the supplier or a qualified professional has established that the system is safe.
Model-specific guidance: what the manuals establish
| Manual or guidance | Connection information | Leak-test and placement requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Gino manual | Examples include a push-on patio-gas regulator and a counterclockwise POL regulator; the applicable connection varies by country. | Test before first use, after a cylinder refill and whenever the hose or regulator has been disconnected. Use the specified soap solution or leak-detection fluid. |
| Cozze manual | Use a regulator and hose approved for LPG at the appliance’s specified pressure and in accordance with local requirements. | Use outdoors; site the cylinder outside and away from the appliance. Check for leaks before use and never use a naked flame. |
These are examples of manufacturer instructions, not a universal fitting chart. Your oven’s current manual and local cylinder rules control the connector, pressure, tightening method, clearances and test sequence.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Choosing a replacement hose or regulator
Replace an assembly when it is damaged, unsuitable for the oven or no longer accepted under local rules. Compare the complete specification, not the appearance of the connector.
| Check | What must match |
|---|---|
| Oven approval | The oven manufacturer or manual must permit the regulator and hose. |
| Gas and pressure | The assembly must be rated for LPG and the exact regulator outlet pressure specified for the oven. |
| Cylinder connection | The regulator inlet must match the valve and fitting used by your cylinder in your country. |
| Hose specification | Use the required LPG hose type, length, end fittings and local standard; reject worn or heat-damaged hose. |
| Legal and local compliance | Follow cylinder-supplier requirements and applicable gas regulations. |
If you cannot verify every item, take the oven model, cylinder information and existing parts to a certified LPG supplier. Buying by thread appearance alone is unsafe.

Assuming every connector tightens the same way
Push-on, POL and other systems have different locking methods. Follow the instructions printed for the actual regulator and cylinder rather than a remembered direction.
Testing only the hose middle
Leaks most often matter at joints and seals. Wet the cylinder/regulator connection, every hose end and the oven inlet, plus any additional points listed in the manual.
Opening the burner during testing
The burner control must remain off. Opening it can release gas through the burner and make the result harder to interpret.
Testing with a lighter
A flame test can ignite the leak. Use soapy water or approved leak-detection fluid only.
Continuing after a small bubble
There is no safe “small enough” leak for operation. Close the supply, correct only an authorised simple connection problem, and retest.
Ignoring an odour when bubbles are absent
Solution can miss a joint, a valve fault or a leak that is not obvious at the moment of inspection. Treat persistent odour as an emergency and seek supplier assistance.
Disconnecting and storing the oven
When you finish cooking, follow the manual’s shutdown sequence. Turn the burner control off, close the cylinder valve or regulator, and allow hot components to cool before moving anything. If you disconnect the hose or regulator for storage, protect the connectors from dirt and damage and perform a complete leak test the next time you reconnect them. Store the cylinder according to its own instructions and local requirements, outdoors and away from heat or ignition sources.

Final pre-ignition checklist
- The oven model, gas type, pressure and connector have been confirmed from the current manual.
- The cylinder, regulator and hose are approved for that system and show no damage.
- The oven is outdoors with the required clearances, and the cylinder is outside and away from the hot appliance.
- The burner control is off and the cylinder valve was opened only in the prescribed sequence.
- Soap solution or LPG leak-detection fluid has covered every relevant joint.
- No growing bubbles or gas odour is present.
- If any leak was found, the supply remains off until the cause is corrected and a retest passes.
Only after every item is satisfied should you use the oven’s normal ignition procedure. If you are uncertain about any connection or the leak test does not pass, leave the gas off and obtain help from the gas supplier or a qualified service provider.
