Configure Conan Exiles purge events in ServerSettings.ini (or the equivalent server-settings panel). Start with the EnablePurge master switch, then decide whether purges may run at any time with RestrictPurgeTime, set weekday and weekend windows, and choose whether an unoccupied clan can be targeted. The minimum-online setting is the control that matters for offline purges: 0 allows them, while 1 or higher prevents them. Because key names and trigger systems have changed between builds, confirm the exact entries present in your live file before relying on older meter settings.
What controls a purge
A purge is a server event that sends an attack wave against eligible clan territory. The configuration is stored in ServerSettings.ini; hosted-server control panels normally edit the same values through a form. The in-game server settings panel exposes a subset of those options, but a file edit gives you the clearest view of every key your build actually supports.

Do not assume that every purge key found in an old tutorial is active on your server. Current builds may use the treasure value in a clan coffer to trigger eligibility, while older guides describe a meter controlled by separate threshold and difficulty keys.
Back up the configuration before changing it
A malformed line or an unsupported key can make a hosted server ignore your change, revert a setting, or fail to start. Make a copy before editing.

- Stop the Conan Exiles server from its hosting panel or service manager. Editing while the process is running can be overwritten when the server saves its settings.
- Open the server’s configuration file manager and locate
ServerSettings.ini. On a self-hosted installation, use the configuration folder created for the active server instance; on a hosted service, use its file manager or configuration editor. - Download or duplicate the file and label the copy with the date and build, such as
ServerSettings-backup-2026-10-14.ini. - Record the current values of every purge-related entry. This gives you a quick rollback and makes it possible to identify which change caused a problem.
If your host offers both a graphical settings page and a raw-file editor, use one method at a time. Saving the panel after a manual edit may regenerate the file and remove keys that the panel does not know about.
Configure purge settings in a hosting panel
Panel labels differ, but the workflow is generally the same. Open the server’s configuration or game-settings page, search for “purge,” and save only after checking the generated values.
- Choose the Conan Exiles instance and open Server Settings, Game Settings, or the equivalent configuration editor.
- Turn the purge master switch on or off. The underlying key is
EnablePurge. - If you want a schedule, enable the option corresponding to
RestrictPurgeTime, then enter separate weekday and weekend start and end times. - Set the minimum-online-players value. If the panel exposes two names, inspect the saved file afterward and note which one it writes.
- Apply or save the configuration, then restart the server so the process reads the new file.
- Reopen the panel or file and verify that the values survived the restart. A panel that silently restores defaults is evidence that the field is not supported by that build.
Edit ServerSettings.ini directly
Direct editing is useful when a panel omits a key or when you need to audit the exact configuration. Keep the existing formatting and change only the entries you intend to change.
1. Set the master switch
Use the existing EnablePurge line if it is present. Set it to the boolean value your file uses for enabled or disabled (for example, True or False). If the line is absent, do not invent a location or duplicate it blindly; check the settings generated by your current build or panel first.

2. Restrict purges to time windows
RestrictPurgeTime controls whether the weekday and weekend windows are enforced. With the restriction enabled, configure the weekday start and end and the weekend start and end entries exposed by your build. The ZAP-Hosting configuration guide identifies these as the PurgeTimeWeekday and PurgeTimeWeekend start/end values and notes that 0000 represents midnight.
Use the server’s documented four-digit format consistently. A window that crosses midnight should be tested on the running server rather than assumed to work from the text alone. Keep the interval wide enough for your intended event; a very short window can cause a warning to appear without leaving enough time for the wave to begin.
3. Decide whether offline purges are allowed
Look for the minimum-online-players entry. Guides and builds use two names: MinimumNumberOfOnlinePlayers and MinPurgeOnlinePlayers. They express the same policy in the sources checked:
0: a clan can be eligible even when no clan member is online.1or higher: at least that many clan members must be online, so an empty base is not purged under that rule.
The older Funcom forum discussion uses MinPurgeOnlinePlayers, while other guides use MinimumNumberOfOnlinePlayers. Because that forum post may not match a current build, use the spelling already present in your generated file. Do not add both names in the hope that one will work; an unrecognized duplicate can create ambiguity when a panel rewrites the file.

4. Save, restart, and verify
Save the file without changing its extension, start the server, and inspect the file again after the first successful boot. If the server rewrites a value, the rewritten form is the one to use for subsequent edits.
Set a practical purge schedule
Time restrictions are useful when players need a predictable defense period or when a community does not want attacks during maintenance hours. A common approach is to allow a longer window on days when players are active and a narrower window overnight. The values below are policy examples, not universal defaults:

Choose one policy, write it down for players, and keep the server’s time zone in mind. The configuration controls the server’s clock, not each player’s local clock. If your host documents a separate time-zone setting, verify it before publishing a schedule.
Allow defenders enough preparation time
The warning or preparation period is separate from the event’s eligibility and schedule. Sources recommend increasing that period when clans need time to gather defenders, repair walls, move supplies, or clear a path. The exact setting name was not confirmed in the available material, so do not paste a guessed key into ServerSettings.ini. Instead:

- Use the in-game or hosting-panel label if your build exposes a purge preparation or warning duration.
- After saving, confirm which key the panel wrote to the file.
- If no setting is exposed, treat the preparation duration as controlled by the game build and do not rely on an unverified legacy name.
Understand trigger and difficulty settings before using them
Older configuration guides describe three “meter” entries: ClanPurgeTrigger for the eligibility threshold, ClanScoreUpateFrequnency for score updates, and PurgeLevel for difficulty. Their current behavior is not consistent across sources or versions.
- A community wiki describes
ClanPurgeTriggeras raising the threshold before a clan becomes eligible. - Descriptions of
PurgeLevelconflict. One source gives a 1–6 scale; another says0disables purges and 1 is easiest through 6 as hardest; a newer hosting guide describes a 1–10 range. - A newer-build guide says eligibility is based on the treasure value in the clan’s coffer and that the legacy meter keys have no effect.
Because these claims cannot all apply to every build, treat the legacy entries as version-dependent. If they are already in your file, record their values before changing them. If they are absent, do not add them solely because an old tutorial lists them. The reliable controls for a current configuration are the master switch, time restriction, schedule, and minimum-online rule; verify any difficulty or threshold behavior in a disposable test server running the same build as production.

Test the configuration without surprising players
- Create a second server instance or use a private test world with the same Conan Exiles build and mod list.
- Apply one category of change at a time: first the master switch, then the schedule, then the minimum-online rule.
- Restart and confirm that the file retains each value.
- Use server logs, admin notices, or the in-game purge indicators available in your build to verify that an event is eligible only under the intended conditions.
- Test both sides of the offline rule: observe behavior with the required number of clan members online, then with none online. Do not assume a warning alone proves that a wave can start.
- Announce the production schedule, the offline policy, and the time zone before enabling the setting on a shared server.
Do not test by deliberately abandoning a valuable live base. Purges and their consequences are persistent gameplay events, and a mistake in an overnight window may not be reversible from the configuration file.

The purge never starts
- Check
EnablePurgeafter the last restart; a panel may have reset it. - If
RestrictPurgeTimeis enabled, compare the current server time with both the weekday/weekend window and the server’s time zone. - Check the minimum-online value. A value of
1or more blocks an offline clan under the documented rule. - Confirm that the current build actually uses the legacy threshold or difficulty keys before changing them. A treasure-based trigger may supersede them.
A purge occurs while nobody is online
Find the minimum-online key that your server writes. If it is 0, offline purges are intentionally permitted. Set it to at least 1, restart, and verify the saved spelling if your rule is to require a defender.

The schedule appears to be ignored
- Confirm that
RestrictPurgeTimeis enabled rather than merely entering start and end values. - Check that the weekday and weekend fields are complete; an empty end value can invalidate the window.
- Use four-digit times and treat
0000as midnight. - Make sure the panel did not discard unsupported fields when it saved the file.
The server reverts or fails after an edit
Stop the server, restore the dated backup, and start it once to confirm recovery. Then reapply one supported change through the panel or the key already generated by the server. Avoid adding unverified names, duplicate entries, or values copied from a different game version.
Keep purge policy separate from building decay
Purge attacks and decay are different systems. Changing decay can make abandoned structures persist even when purges are disabled, which changes the amount of territory your server must maintain.
AbandonmentDisabled=Trueturns decay off, so buildings never abandon under that setting.DecayTimeMultiplierscales all decay timers. A PvE preset described in the available guidance uses2.0to double those timers while leaving decay enabled.- Other guides use names such as
BuildingDecayEnabledorDisableBuildingAbandonment. These are alternatives seen in different configurations, not keys to add automatically.
For a public server, decide independently whether abandoned construction should disappear. Document the decay policy alongside the purge policy so players do not mistake a persistent abandoned base for evidence that purges are disabled.
A maintenance checklist for administrators
- Back up
ServerSettings.inibefore every change. - Confirm the active Conan Exiles build and use the key spelling it generates.
- Set
EnablePurgefirst, then configureRestrictPurgeTimeand the weekday/weekend windows. - Choose
0for offline eligibility or1or more to require online clan members. - Do not rely on
ClanPurgeTrigger,ClanScoreUpateFrequnency, orPurgeLeveluntil their behavior is confirmed for that build. - Restart after saving and inspect the file to ensure the values remain.
- Publish the server time zone, purge windows, and offline rule to players.
- Keep a dated rollback copy and record who changed the settings.
The safest configuration is the one you can explain, test, and restore: use the confirmed core controls, treat legacy meter keys as build-dependent, and never infer support for a key merely because it appears in an older guide.
