To loop a recorded lesson on YouTube Live from a Windows PC, add it to an OBS Media Source, enable Loop, connect OBS to a YouTube encoder stream with your stream key, and start streaming. That repeats the video; it does not keep Windows, OBS, your internet connection, or power running around the clock. The settings below follow YouTube’s general encoder guidance, not India-specific network requirements.
Before you configure OBS
- Your YouTube channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days.
- If you are enabling live streaming for the first time, YouTube says activation may take up to 24 hours. Set it up before the planned broadcast.
- Use a Windows PC that can play the lesson and encode the stream, plus an internet connection with enough stable upload capacity for your chosen bitrate.
YouTube does not publish a special OBS profile for India. Measure and test the actual upload connection you will use; the country alone cannot establish what bitrate it can sustain.
Set up a single lesson to repeat in OBS
- Open or create a scene. In OBS Studio, select the scene where the lesson should appear.
- Add the video. In Sources, choose + > Media Source, create or select a source, then browse to the lesson file. OBS supports common local video formats, including MP4.
- Enable looping. In the Media Source properties, turn on Loop. OBS will replay the file when it reaches the end.
- Check restart behavior. Restart playback when source becomes active is On by default. Leave it enabled if the lesson should begin at the start whenever the source becomes active.
- Verify picture and sound. Check the OBS preview for framing, legibility, and audio before streaming. Listen to the lesson itself, not only a silent or static opening frame.
For a sequence of lessons rather than one repeating file, add an OBS VLC Video source and configure a playlist. Its Loop Playlist option is On by default. VLC must be installed; OBS notes that 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC. Test transitions and audio between files before going live.

Connect OBS to a YouTube encoder stream
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and create or select an encoder stream.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream.
- In OBS, open Settings > Stream, choose YouTube or RTMPS when available, and enter the server URL and stream key. If OBS offers a YouTube account connection instead, use the encoder stream details required by your setup.
- Keep the stream key private. YouTube describes stream keys as password-like credentials that tell YouTube where the encoder sends its feed and allow YouTube to accept it. If exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before using it again.
Choose bitrate and encoder settings
YouTube’s encoder-settings guidance accessed in 2026 lists 5 Mbps minimum and 14 Mbps recommended for H.264 at 1080p30. These are YouTube’s platform recommendations, not a guarantee that your PC or internet connection can sustain that rate.

Set bitrate according to the upload capacity available during the broadcast, not just the result of a one-time speed test. YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom. For example, a stream set to 5 Mbps calls for about 6.25 Mbps of available upload capacity to preserve that margin; this is arithmetic from YouTube’s recommendation, not an ISP guarantee. If the connection is shared or varies, reduce bitrate or resolution and test under representative conditions.
Test the stream before relying on it
- Start the encoder from OBS and check the stream preview in YouTube Live Control Room before making it public.
- Confirm the intended audience can see the broadcast with the visibility setting you selected.
- Watch a section with motion and listen for the lesson’s embedded audio. Check that playback returns to the beginning when the file ends, or that the playlist advances and loops as intended.
- Monitor YouTube’s stream health and audio/video quality during the test. Repeat the test on the same PC and network you expect to use.
What “24/7” requires beyond the loop
The OBS loop repeats a media file; it is not a recovery system for OBS crashes, Windows restarts, internet outages, or power loss. YouTube warns that a network disruption can break a live stream. A truly unattended local setup therefore needs separately planned power and network continuity, plus a tested way to recover after software or system failure. The cited official guidance does not establish a Windows sleep-prevention path or guarantee automatic restart or 24/7 availability. Do not treat the Loop checkbox as an uptime guarantee.

For Indian creators, the same YouTube encoder recommendations apply; test your actual connection and any shared upload demand at the time the channel will run. A wired connection may help where the PC and router support it and a cable can be installed, but YouTube does not require Ethernet.

Troubleshooting common problems
