Configure Rally Bar 2 by deciding first where the meeting application will run: directly on a supported CollabOS appliance, or on a Windows room computer that uses the bar as its audio and video hardware. Logitech’s current compatibility matrix lists Rally Bar 2 for Zoom Rooms Appliance and Microsoft Teams Rooms on Android, and includes a Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows compatibility entry. After choosing the architecture, prepare the room account, license, network, display, controller and mounting plan; wire the bar using the current Rally Bar 2 installation guide; complete the platform sign-in; update software; and place test calls.

The exact Rally Bar 2 port map and out-of-box wizard should come from its model-specific guide. Do not copy an older Rally Bar diagram and assume its connectors or first-boot screens are identical.

Choose the room architecture before connecting cables

Rally Bar 2 can be deployed in two fundamentally different ways. In appliance mode, the room application runs on the room device itself. In a room-PC design, Microsoft Teams Rooms runs on a dedicated Windows computer and Rally Bar 2 supplies the room camera, microphones and speakers. The choice affects licensing, account sign-in, updates, administration and the hardware you must purchase.

Deployment path Where the room application runs Use this path when Important qualification
Microsoft Teams Rooms on Android On the supported CollabOS room appliance The organization operates the room as a Teams room and wants an appliance-based deployment Rally Bar 2 appears in Logitech’s current compatibility matrix; confirm the model and software requirements at installation time.
Zoom Rooms Appliance On the supported room appliance The room is administered primarily as a Zoom Room Rally Bar 2 is listed for this appliance configuration; Zoom still requires a Zoom Rooms license, portal access and a compatible appliance.
Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows On a dedicated Windows room computer Your organization standardizes on Windows room systems or needs that management model Logitech lists a Windows compatibility entry, but the exact Rally Bar 2 mode, computer specification and peripheral combination must be checked in the current documentation.

Appliance mode does not mean that a room can operate without an account, network or controller plan. It means only that the meeting application is hosted on the room appliance rather than on a separate computer. A display, power, network connection and service-provider identity are still required.

  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Decide who owns scheduling and administration

Choose the platform that will own the room calendar, meeting controls and device administration. A Teams room should be created and managed as a Teams Rooms resource. A Zoom room should be added and activated in the Zoom web portal. Avoid installing both platforms on one room appliance as if they were interchangeable; the room needs one primary operating mode and one supported provisioning path.

Plan the physical room

Before mounting anything, document the display or displays, camera height and viewing angle, power outlet, wired network drop or approved wireless design, controller location, cable routes and content-sharing method. If the room uses a Windows computer, reserve a secure location for that computer and confirm how it will connect to the display and Rally Bar 2.

Logitech’s CollabOS overview describes running Microsoft Teams Rooms on Android or Zoom Rooms directly on the appliance. That statement describes the platform model, not a guarantee that every software release, regional SKU or peripheral combination is certified forever. Recheck the compatibility matrix when you order and again when you deploy.

Prepare accounts, permissions and licenses

Microsoft Teams Rooms prerequisites

Microsoft requires a separate Teams Rooms resource account for each physical meeting room. Create the account before first boot, assign the required Microsoft 365 and room-service licensing for your tenant, and record the sign-in credentials in your deployment runbook. The account must match the room’s calendar and be the identity entered during Teams Rooms setup.

  • Confirm that the account can sign in from the room network and that the organization’s Exchange and Microsoft 365 policies permit room-calendar processing.
  • Verify which Teams Rooms license your tenant requires; licensing depends on the organization’s plan and room configuration, so do not assume a universal edition or price.
  • Ensure the administrator performing enrollment can manage Teams Rooms devices and the relevant Microsoft 365 settings.

Have the account name and password available at the device. Microsoft’s setup guidance expects the Teams Rooms application to be configured with the matching account during first power-on.

Zoom Rooms prerequisites

Zoom’s setup requirements include a Zoom Rooms license, a role that can access Zoom Rooms in the web portal, and a compatible appliance. The person installing the room must be able to add the room in the portal and complete activation or sign-in on the device.

  • Confirm that the account has an available Zoom Rooms license before installation day.
  • Give the installer the least-privileged portal role that still permits room creation and device activation.
  • Prepare the room name, floor or location information and calendar integration details used by your organization.
  • Check that the planned Rally Bar 2 appliance configuration is shown as compatible for the current software release.

Zoom room activation and meeting controls are separate from a personal Zoom user account. Use the room’s organizational identity and the portal workflow intended for Zoom Rooms.

Network and security preparation

Both platforms depend on reliable network access. Provide a tested Ethernet connection when the room design allows it; if wireless is approved, verify signal quality at the installed bar and controller locations. Zoom specifically calls for network preparation and firewall or proxy access to Zoom services. Teams deployments likewise need the room account and device to reach Microsoft services.

Install Rally Bar 2 without guessing the port layout

Use the current Logitech Rally Bar 2 Getting Started or deployment guide for mounting, power, display, Ethernet, USB and controller connections. The detailed technical examples available for related Rally Bar systems are useful for understanding the sequence, but they are not a substitute for the Rally Bar 2-specific diagram.

  1. Mount the bar according to the manufacturer’s placement and safety instructions, centered on the primary display when the room design permits.
  2. Connect power and the display path shown in the Rally Bar 2 guide. Do not infer connector names or cable direction from an older Rally Bar model.
  3. Connect the approved network path and, for a Windows room, attach the bar to the designated room computer using the ports and USB requirements documented for that configuration.
  4. Connect or position the room controller if the bundle includes one. Check the exact product bundle; a controller may be sold separately.
  5. Power on the display, room computer or appliance, bar and controller in the order recommended by the current guide.

Keep the installation guide with the room record. If a connector, adapter or display behavior differs from the diagram, stop and verify the model and regional SKU rather than experimenting with an older wiring illustration.

When a Logitech Tap IP controller is part of the design

Logitech documents Tap IP pairing with CollabOS devices over the room network. After CollabOS setup, each device may require sign-in to the service-provider account. Pairing therefore depends on both network reachability and the platform account being ready.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Place the controller where seated participants can reach it without blocking the display.
  • Confirm that the controller and Rally Bar 2 use the network expected by the pairing procedure.
  • Complete CollabOS setup before attempting provider sign-in if the guide specifies that order.
  • Verify that the exact Tap IP and Rally Bar 2 combination is supported for your chosen platform and software release.

Configure Microsoft Teams Rooms

The following sequence describes the deployment logic. Screen names and prompts can change with Teams Rooms and CollabOS releases, so follow the current Rally Bar 2 guide when a prompt differs.

  1. Start the room appliance or Windows room system. Select the Teams Rooms configuration when the setup wizard asks which service the room will run. On a Windows design, confirm that the computer is the supported room-system host and that Rally Bar 2 is connected as the documented AV device.
  2. Connect the room to the network. Enter the approved wired or wireless details, complete any proxy configuration required by the organization and wait for the device to obtain the correct time.
  3. Enter the resource-account credentials. Use the dedicated account created for this physical room, not a personal Teams identity. If the wizard asks for a domain, tenant or calendar setting, use the values supplied by your Microsoft 365 administrator.
  4. Complete device and display checks. Confirm that the display shows the Teams Rooms interface, the camera preview is available, and the microphone and speaker indicators respond when tested.
  5. Pair the controller. If Tap IP is included, follow Logitech’s CollabOS pairing process after the appliance is on the expected network. Finish any Teams sign-in or service-provider authorization shown on the controller.
  6. Install updates. Apply available CollabOS, Rally Bar 2 and Teams Rooms updates during the maintenance window. Keep the room powered and connected until each update reports completion.
  7. Register and monitor the room. Confirm that administrators can see the device in Teams administration tools and, where applicable, the Teams Rooms Pro Management Portal. Record the room name, account, software versions and support owner.

Teams validation checklist

  • The room appears in the expected Teams admin inventory and is associated with the correct physical location.
  • The calendar displays the room’s scheduled meetings and permits the intended join workflow.
  • Participants can start an ad-hoc meeting from the controller.
  • The far end receives both camera video and room audio, and the room receives far-end audio.
  • Content sharing works through the planned input or room-computer path.
  • The room remains signed in after a restart and after the display enters sleep mode.

Microsoft recommends confirming device visibility in its administration tools and making test calls or meetings to check quality. Perform those checks before handing the room to users.

Configure Zoom Rooms

Zoom’s process separates web-portal room creation from local device activation. Have the Zoom Rooms license and portal permissions ready before you turn on the equipment.

  1. Prepare the Zoom account and network. Confirm the license, installer role, firewall or proxy access and calendar requirements. Resolve blocked Zoom service endpoints before starting activation.
  2. Add the room in the Zoom web portal. Create the room with the organization’s naming and location conventions. If your deployment uses calendar integration, associate the room with the appropriate calendar resource.
  3. Select the supported appliance configuration. Start Rally Bar 2 in the Zoom Rooms Appliance mode documented for the current release. Do not select an unsupported generic video-bar profile simply because the bar is visible on the network.
  4. Activate or sign in on the room device. Use the activation or sign-in method presented by Zoom Rooms and associate the device with the room created in the portal.
  5. Pair the controller. Connect the controller on the expected network and complete the pairing flow. Confirm that the controller shows the correct room name rather than another room in the account.
  6. Check camera, microphone and speaker behavior. Use the room’s device settings and a short test meeting to verify framing, pickup, playback and mute controls.
  7. Update room hardware and applications. Apply available updates to the Zoom Rooms application, CollabOS and Rally Bar 2 before the room is placed in service.

Zoom validation checklist

  • The room is listed as active in the Zoom Rooms portal.
  • The controller can start, join and end a meeting.
  • The scheduled room calendar is visible if calendar integration is configured.
  • Camera video is clear at the intended seating positions and the microphone does not remain muted unexpectedly.
  • Remote participants can hear the room and the room can hear them.
  • The room reconnects correctly after a restart and remains associated with the same Zoom Room.

Decision factor Teams Rooms path Zoom Rooms path
Primary room identity A dedicated Microsoft Teams Rooms resource account for each physical room A Zoom Room created and activated in the Zoom web portal
Application location Supported CollabOS appliance on Android, or a supported Windows room computer Supported Zoom Rooms appliance configuration
License dependency Microsoft 365 and Teams Rooms licensing determined by the tenant and room design A Zoom Rooms license is required
Installer permissions Rights to configure the room account and manage Teams Rooms devices A role with access to Zoom Rooms in the web portal
Controller planning Controller pairing and Teams sign-in must be completed for the selected CollabOS design Controller pairing and room activation are part of the Zoom setup sequence
Operational checks Teams admin visibility, calendar behavior and test calls or meetings Portal activation, controller operation, updates and test meetings

Also compare who will patch the room, who receives failure alerts, how service accounts are rotated and whether your help desk already supports one platform. These operational decisions usually matter more than a small difference in first-boot screens.

Troubleshoot the problems that stop deployment

The room cannot sign in

Recheck the account type, password, tenant and network path. A Teams room must use its dedicated resource account; a personal user account can produce the wrong calendar or policy behavior. For Zoom, verify that the room has been created in the portal, that the license is available and that the activation code or sign-in belongs to that room.

The controller cannot find the bar

Confirm that both devices are on the network expected by the Logitech pairing procedure, that client isolation is not blocking device discovery and that the controller is running the supported software. Reboot only after recording the displayed error. If the product bundle or software release is uncertain, verify compatibility rather than substituting a different controller model.

Video works but audio does not

Check the selected speaker and microphone in the room application, confirm that the display or computer has not claimed the audio output unexpectedly, and test with the bar’s own diagnostic controls. Inspect mute state on both the controller and the far-end meeting. On a Windows room, verify that the room computer is using the Rally Bar 2 device documented for that configuration.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The room disappears from administration tools

Check that the device has retained its account, has accurate time and can reach the platform service through the firewall or proxy. For Teams, look in the Teams administration inventory and the applicable Pro Management view. For Zoom, check the room’s portal status and whether activation was completed. Do not factory-reset before confirming that you have the credentials and re-enrollment permissions.

An update fails

Keep the room powered, restore stable network access and retry during a maintenance window. Record the current CollabOS, Rally Bar 2 and room-application versions. If the failure repeats, use the current Logitech or platform recovery procedure for that exact model and release; an older Rally Bar recovery guide may not apply.

Handoff checklist for a production room

  • Platform mode and compatibility were checked against the current Logitech matrix.
  • The display, mount, power, network and controller installation match the Rally Bar 2-specific guide.
  • The Teams resource account or Zoom Room identity is documented securely.
  • Required licenses, portal permissions and firewall or proxy rules are confirmed.
  • CollabOS, Rally Bar 2 and room-platform software are updated.
  • Controller pairing, calendar behavior, content sharing, camera, microphone and speaker tests passed.
  • A test call or meeting was completed with a remote participant.
  • The support owner knows how to find the room in Teams or Zoom administration and how to re-enroll it if credentials change.

Use the model-specific Rally Bar 2 documentation whenever a cable, port label, firmware requirement or wizard screen is not exactly as described in a general Rally Bar example. That discipline prevents an otherwise compatible room from failing because the wrong diagram or unsupported mode was used.
