Configure a DJI Dock in this order: identify the Dock generation and aircraft, complete the physical and network setup, verify live weather telemetry, build and validate the FlightHub 2 route and GEO settings, then distribute either a planned route or an immediate manual task. The original DJI Dock has an integrated weather station, but DJI does not publish one universal wind-and-rain limit table for every Dock generation and firmware version. Use the applicable manual and your approved site limits rather than guessing.
Identify the Dock generation before changing settings
DJI uses separate manuals, firmware packages and supported aircraft for each Dock generation. A menu or capability shown for one generation may not exist on another, so confirm the hardware label and aircraft model first.
| Dock generation | Compatible aircraft identified in DJI documentation | What to verify before following a procedure |
|---|---|---|
| Original DJI Dock | M30-series Dock aircraft | Use the original Dock manual, firmware and FlightHub 2 instructions for that aircraft. |
| DJI Dock 2 | Matrice 3D or Matrice 3TD | Use Dock 2 documentation and the firmware package for the installed aircraft and dock. |
| DJI Dock 3 | Matrice 4D-series aircraft | Use Dock 3 documentation; labels and supported controls can differ from earlier generations. |
Do not assume that an original-Dock temperature behavior, route option or aircraft-control feature applies unchanged to Dock 2 or Dock 3. Record the exact Dock model, aircraft model, firmware versions and FlightHub 2 release in the site commissioning sheet.

Generation checking also prevents a common support mistake: applying a firmware package intended for another dock or aircraft. Download the package from the page for the installed generation, then verify the model identifier shown in the update workflow before accepting an update. Keep the applicable manual with the site records so an operator can resolve a menu difference without relying on screenshots from another model.

Complete the prerequisites and site setup
Weather, geofencing and remote-flight controls depend on a correctly commissioned dock. Complete these checks before creating a production route.
- Install the dock on a flat, level surface. Confirm that the aircraft can land, charge and take off without contact with nearby structures. Keep the installation clear of objects that could interfere with the aircraft or weather sensors.
- Connect power and network. The dock must have stable power and a working path to FlightHub 2. A wired connection is normally preferred for a fixed installation; cellular service can be used where supported, but 4G availability varies by country and region.
- Complete quick configuration with DJI RC Plus. Use the linked RC Plus remote controller during initial setup, checks and contingency operations. The original M30 Dock aircraft can be controlled after the RC Plus is linked.
- Bind the dock to the correct FlightHub 2 organization. Device management supports binding through DJI Pilot 2 or the DJI Enterprise app. If the dock belongs to another organization, unbind it before attempting to move it.
- Confirm software compatibility. Match the Dock, aircraft and controller firmware to the current manual for that generation. Do not mix instructions or firmware packages between original Dock, Dock 2 and Dock 3.
- Check network capacity. DJI’s FAQ recommends at least 10 Mbps upload and download for a better user experience. Treat that as a connectivity recommendation, not a guarantee that every route will work at that speed under all conditions.
Run a short commissioning test before loading a real inspection or mapping assignment. Verify that the dock reports online, the aircraft is recognized, the battery can charge and the RC Plus link is available. A successful power-on test is not proof that a remote mission is authorized; organization binding, GEO review, weather approval and the route’s assigned dock still have to be checked.
Configure weather monitoring and operating gates
Use the integrated weather station on the original Dock
The original DJI Dock includes an integrated weather station. DJI states that it monitors wind speed, rainfall and temperature, so an additional weather station is not required for those measurements. The telemetry should be visible in the dock or FlightHub 2 status view when the dock is online.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →This statement describes the original Dock. Verify the sensors and status fields supplied with Dock 2 or Dock 3 in the applicable generation manual instead of assuming an identical interface.
Understand the published temperature behavior
DJI’s product information for the original Dock lists an operating-temperature range of -35 °C to 50 °C. It also states that the Dock enters standby when the temperature falls below -20 °C and resumes missions when the temperature rises above that condition. These are published operating behaviors, not a complete list of user-editable mission thresholds.
Temperature alone does not establish that a flight is safe. Wind, rain, visibility, icing, lightning risk, aircraft battery condition and the site’s aviation rules still need to be checked.
Separate telemetry from your operating limits
The weather station supplies observations; it does not replace the operator’s go/no-go policy. Configure the operating procedure around the current reading and the approved limit for the exact aircraft and site. For example, a route may be inside the temperature range while rain, gusts, poor visibility or an aviation restriction still require a hold. Conversely, a reading below a preferred internal limit may be acceptable only when the responsible operator has documented that decision.

Do not convert the Dock’s published standby behavior into a presumed wind or rain cutoff. The public DJI pages do not establish one universal set of editable thresholds, and values can differ by generation and firmware. Use the current model-specific manual or DJI support channel when a numeric abort value is required.
Apply site-approved weather limits before dispatch
DJI’s publicly available pages do not provide one complete numeric wind, rain, visibility and temperature-abort table that covers every Dock generation and firmware version. Before deployment, obtain the limits for the exact model from its current manual or DJI support channel and add any stricter limits required by your operator, regulator or risk assessment.

- Confirm that the planned route does not enter a weather-restricted operating window.
- Record the telemetry and approval decision in the mission log when your procedure requires it.
- Delay or cancel the mission when telemetry is missing, stale, outside limits or inconsistent with conditions at the site. Do not substitute a guessed threshold.
Allow for cooling and the interval between flights
DJI’s FAQ documents a minimum interval of 25 minutes between flights under the stated conditions of 25 °C ambient temperature and a battery charge level between 10% and 90%. Higher temperatures can lengthen cooling time. Treat the 25-minute figure as a documented condition-specific minimum, not a universal schedule for every environment, aircraft or battery state.
When scheduling several sorties, place the documented interval between planned launches and leave room for additional cooling in hot conditions. A route that fits on paper can still be unavailable if the previous flight has not cooled sufficiently. The operator should monitor readiness in FlightHub 2 rather than assuming that a nominal 25-minute timer guarantees the next launch.
Set up geofencing and custom flight areas in FlightHub 2
Create the project and route
- Open or create the FlightHub 2 project for the operating site.
- Start route planning and define the task’s flight area and route.
- Set the intended altitude limits, route geometry, collection actions and aircraft-facing behavior required by the mission.
- Choose the dock and aircraft that will execute the plan only after confirming their model and online status.
Review GEO zones and local permissions
Review the applicable GEO information and any custom flight zones before saving the route. The flight area, altitude ceiling, obstacle behavior and local aviation permissions must agree. A route that is geometrically valid can still be unsuitable if it exceeds an authorized altitude or enters a restricted area.
Keep evidence of the permission or authorization used for the operation. A GEO-zone setting is a technical control; it does not replace the operator’s legal responsibility to obtain permission for the flight.
Check the complete route, not only its starting point. A corridor can cross a zone after a turn, climb to a different altitude or pass close to an obstacle even when the initial map view looks clear. Compare the saved route with the approved flight area and altitude ceiling, and have the responsible reviewer sign off where your operating procedure requires a second check.
Distinguish permanent obstacles from temporary ones
FlightHub 2 distinguishes two obstacle-handling cases:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Long-term fixed obstacles: use Custom GEO Zone obstacle bypassing where the site’s approved configuration calls for a persistent restriction or bypass treatment.
- Temporary obstacles: use the Bypass Obstacle option for a short-lived condition that is not represented as a permanent custom zone.
Do not use a temporary bypass to hide a permanent hazard, and do not create a permanent zone for a condition that has already been removed without reviewing every affected route.
Document why an obstacle treatment was selected. If construction equipment, a crane or another temporary object changes position, reassess the route rather than assuming the old bypass remains appropriate. When a fixed obstacle is added or removed, review all routes that reference the custom zone before distributing another task.
Refresh the route editor after every custom-zone edit
DJI notes that custom GEO-zone changes must be reflected by refreshing the route editor promptly. If you edit a zone and continue working in an already-open route without refreshing, the task can fail because the route does not contain the current zone information.

Configure and launch a remote flight
Use a planned route for repeatable missions
For recurring inspections, mapping or collection work, use the plan library. After route review, select the route and the intended dock, then distribute the task through the plan library. DJI recommends enabling Resume Flight from Breakpoint for suitable collection missions, allowing an interrupted collection task to continue from its recorded breakpoint rather than restarting the entire route. Confirm that the mission type and data-collection workflow are appropriate before enabling it.
- Open the FlightHub 2 plan library.
- Select the validated route.
- Select the dock and aircraft assigned to the mission.
- Review weather telemetry, GEO status, altitude, obstacle settings and aircraft readiness.
- Enable Resume Flight from Breakpoint when the mission supports it and the operator’s procedure allows it.
- Distribute the task and monitor the dock, aircraft and route status.
Use a named route revision or other site-approved identifier so the operator can distinguish a current plan from one edited before a GEO-zone change. If the route was opened during a zone edit, close or refresh it before distribution. Planned-route repeatability is valuable only when the underlying zone, aircraft assignment and weather gate are current.
Use a manual task for an immediate cloud-issued flight
DJI describes a manual task as an immediate task issued through FlightHub 2 for supported aircraft. Choose this workflow when the flight is time-sensitive and does not need the scheduling and repeatability of a planned route.
- Confirm that the aircraft and Dock generation support the manual-task workflow.
- Open the manual-task control in FlightHub 2.
- Define or select the authorized flight area, altitude and action.
- Check current weather telemetry and GEO status.
- Issue the task and watch the live status for acceptance, takeoff, route execution and completion.
- Keep the linked DJI RC Plus available for setup, testing and contingency control.
An immediate task still requires the same safety gates as a planned route. “Manual” describes how the cloud task is issued, not an exemption from weather limits, GEO controls, permissions or network requirements. If the aircraft does not support this workflow, use a supported planned-route process or the control method specified for that generation.
Choose the correct network path
A wired network is generally the predictable choice for a permanent dock installation. Cellular operation depends on local coverage, carrier service and regional availability; DJI notes that 4G availability varies by country and region. If a mission depends on cellular connectivity, test the actual installed location at the times and heights relevant to the operation, and define what the operator should do if the cloud connection drops.
Measure both upload and download performance at the dock, not only at the office or a nearby window. Compare the result with DJI’s recommended 10 Mbps in each direction, then repeat the test during the periods when missions normally run. A connection that passes one test can still be unsuitable if coverage varies by time or weather.

- Weather telemetry visible and current.
- Site wind, rain, visibility and temperature limits documented.
- Flight area, altitude and local aviation permissions reviewed.
- Custom GEO-zone edits followed by a route-editor refresh.
- Permanent and temporary obstacle treatments selected correctly.
- Route reopened and dock/aircraft assignment verified after zone changes.
- Planned-route or manual-task workflow selected intentionally.
- Breakpoint-resume setting reviewed for collection missions.
- Minimum between-flight interval and hot-weather cooling time included in the schedule.
Troubleshoot common configuration failures
The weather panel is blank or stale
Check that the dock has power and network connectivity, then confirm that the status timestamp is updating. Do not dispatch using a stale reading. If the sensor remains unavailable, follow the site’s no-go procedure and contact DJI support or the authorized service provider for the exact Dock generation.
A route fails after a GEO-zone change
Refresh the FlightHub 2 route editor, reopen the route, review the flight area and altitude, and save the route again. Also verify that the assigned dock and aircraft have not changed. Continuing with an old editor session is a documented cause of task failure after custom-zone edits.
The dock will not accept a remote task
Check organization binding, dock and aircraft online status, network performance, route assignment and GEO approval. If the dock belongs to a different organization, unbind it before rebinding it to the intended organization. For an immediate operation, confirm that the aircraft supports manual tasks.

The dock will not appear in the plan library
Confirm that the device is bound to the organization where the route is stored, is online and is the selected dock for that plan. Recheck the aircraft model as well; a route created for one Dock generation should not be assumed compatible with another.
The dock remains in standby in cold weather
For the original Dock, standby below -20 °C is published behavior. Wait until the temperature rises above that condition and the dock reports readiness. Do not attempt to bypass the standby state by inventing a software threshold.
Flights are taking longer to become available
Check the interval since the previous flight and the dock temperature. The documented 25-minute minimum applies at 25 °C with a 10%-to-90% battery charge; higher temperatures can require additional cooling time.
Cellular control is unreliable
Verify local 4G availability, signal quality at the installed dock and the operator’s lost-link procedure. If the site cannot maintain a dependable cloud path, do not treat a marginal connection as equivalent to a tested wired installation.
Choose the workflow that fits the operation
| Decision | Use this when | Checks that still apply |
|---|---|---|
| Planned route | The mission repeats, needs review and should be distributed from the plan library. | Weather telemetry, GEO status, route refresh after zone edits, dock assignment and breakpoint-resume suitability. |
| Manual task | A supported aircraft needs an immediate cloud-issued task. | Current weather, authorization, network path, aircraft support and live monitoring. |
| Wired network | The dock is permanently installed where fixed connectivity is available. | At least the recommended 10 Mbps upload and download, stable routing and power protection. |
| Cellular network | No suitable wired path exists and regional 4G service supports the installation. | Country-specific availability, real-site coverage testing, data service and a lost-link contingency. |
Keep records that make the configuration auditable
For each Dock, retain the model and serial information, aircraft assignment, firmware versions, FlightHub 2 organization, network type, weather limits, GEO-zone approvals, route revision and operator who authorized dispatch. Log weather readings and the decision to launch, delay or abort. When a custom zone changes, preserve the revised route version and confirm that the editor was refreshed before distribution.
This recordkeeping matters because weather behavior, menu labels and supported controls can change with Dock generation and firmware. It also lets an operator distinguish a configuration problem from a legitimate weather or safety hold.
Include the source of every local limit in the record: the applicable DJI manual or support instruction, the operator’s risk assessment and any aviation authorization. Record when the limit was reviewed and who approved it. That makes a later route review faster and prevents an old threshold from being copied into a new Dock installation without verification.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the original DJI Dock need a separate weather station?
No. DJI states that the original DJI Dock has an integrated weather station that monitors wind speed, rainfall and temperature. Verify the sensor and status implementation for Dock 2 or Dock 3 in that generation’s manual.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsWhat temperature range does the original DJI Dock publish?
DJI product information lists an operating range of -35 °C to 50 °C and says the Dock enters standby below -20 °C, resuming missions when temperature rises above that condition. These figures do not provide universal wind or rain limits.

Where do I configure a custom GEO zone?
Create or open the FlightHub 2 project, define the flight area and route, review the applicable GEO information, and apply the custom-zone workflow required for the site. Refresh the route editor immediately after saving a zone change.
Why must I refresh the route editor after changing a zone?
DJI notes that an open editor can retain old zone information. Refreshing and reopening the route ensures the saved plan uses the current custom GEO data; otherwise the task can fail.
What is the difference between a planned route and a manual task?
A planned route is reviewed and distributed from the FlightHub 2 plan library, making it suitable for repeatable missions. A manual task is an immediate cloud-issued task for supported aircraft. Both still require weather, GEO, permission, network and readiness checks.
How fast must the dock’s internet connection be?
DJI’s FAQ recommends at least 10 Mbps upload and 10 Mbps download for a better user experience. Test the installed wired or cellular connection at the dock because regional 4G availability and performance vary.
Can I fly again immediately after landing?
DJI documents a minimum 25-minute interval between flights under 25 °C ambient temperature and a 10%-to-90% battery charge condition. Higher temperatures can lengthen cooling time, so monitor readiness rather than relying on the minimum alone.
What should I do if the dock is associated with the wrong FlightHub 2 organization?
Use DJI’s device-management workflow to unbind it before switching organizations, then bind it to the intended organization through DJI Pilot 2 or the DJI Enterprise app. Recheck route ownership and device status afterward.
Is a GEO-zone setting the same as legal flight approval?
No. GEO and custom-zone controls are technical safeguards. The operator must still obtain and retain the local aviation permissions required for the route, altitude and operating area.
The Bottom Line
Verify the Dock generation first, then commission power, network, RC Plus and organization binding. Use live weather telemetry and model-specific operating limits, refresh FlightHub 2 routes after every custom GEO-zone edit, and choose a planned route or supported manual task deliberately. Keep the documented 25-minute, condition-specific flight interval and a clear authorization record in the operating procedure.
