Bring Isla a Snowdeer Bone. Find and defeat a Snowdeer in Norgan, examine its corpse to collect the bone, then return to Isla and hand it over. Snowdeer can appear across Norgan, so the river path north of the Norgandian Settlement is a useful starting point rather than a guaranteed spawn.
What Isla needs for A Direwolf Delicacy
The requested treat is a Snowdeer Bone. The quest is not asking for an ordinary bone, meat, or another animal drop. You must obtain the specifically named item from a Snowdeer and deliver it to Isla.
Two walkthroughs published in October 2026 agree on the Snowdeer Bone. They differ only in how specifically they describe the best hunting area, which is why it is safer to treat Norgan as the search region and any single route as a starting point.

That detail does not establish an exclusive spawn point; it gives you another direction to try if the settlement-and-river route is quiet. The two area descriptions are compatible with Snowdeer being distributed across Norgan rather than locked to a single location.

1. Keep A Direwolf Delicacy as your active objective

2. Go to Norgan

3. Find a Snowdeer
Look for a Snowdeer while moving through Norgan. Because the available walkthroughs describe them as common throughout the region, failing to see one at the first location does not mean the quest is broken. Continue through the wider region, including the northern side or the far northwest, before concluding that the area is empty.
4. Defeat it
Once you locate a Snowdeer, defeat it so that its corpse can be searched. The quest item is obtained from the defeated animal, not by simply discovering the region or speaking to Isla again.
5. Examine the corpse
Interact with the Snowdeer’s corpse and collect the Snowdeer Bone. This examination step matters: the walkthrough describes the bone as a rare item picked up from the corpse, so defeating the animal alone is not the complete loot action.

6. Return to Isla
After the bone is in your inventory, travel back to Isla. You do not need to keep hunting once you have obtained the correctly named item.

7. Hand over the item
Speak with Isla and choose the interaction that gives her the Snowdeer Bone. The handover completes A Direwolf Delicacy.
What to do if you cannot find a Snowdeer
The most important correction is to stop treating one location as certain. The river-side path north of the settlement is a suggested route, not a confirmed fixed spawn. Use the following search order:
- Recheck the route beside the river north of the Norgandian Settlement.
- Move through more of the northern side of Norgan.
- Search the far northwest, the alternative area reported by The Big Lead.
- Continue across Norgan’s broader terrain, since Snowdeer are described as common throughout the region.
Do not abandon the quest merely because the first sweep is empty. The location evidence supports a regional search, not a single guaranteed encounter.
Optional route: use Isla’s hints instead of searching immediately
You can also work out the treat through dialogue. Isla provides a hint after an incorrect offering, and repeated attempts eventually reveal what the hounds want. According to the VGC walkthrough, wrong offerings have no consequence, so this approach does not permanently fail the quest.

How the hint path works
- Speak with Isla while the treat is still unresolved.
- Offer an item when you want to test a possibility.
- If the offering is wrong, listen to the hint Isla provides.
- Use successive hints to narrow the answer rather than assuming the first attempt must be correct.
- Continue until the dialogue identifies the Snowdeer Bone, then obtain one in Norgan and return to Isla.
The Big Lead describes a related progression in which Isla eventually directs the player to speak with her father, who remembers the Snowdeer Bones. This dialogue route is useful if you prefer to uncover the answer in the game, but it does not replace the need to acquire the bone from a Snowdeer.
When the dialogue route is the better choice
- Choose it if you want the quest’s clues and do not mind making several harmless attempts.
- Use it when you are already near Isla and want to confirm the requested item before traveling to Norgan.
- Skip directly to the hunt if you already know the answer and want the fastest completion.
Common mistakes and their fixes
Offering a generic bone
A normal bone is not the named quest item. Check the inventory text for Snowdeer Bone before returning to Isla.
Leaving after the kill without examining the corpse
The item is collected by examining the defeated Snowdeer. If you only defeat it and move on, you may not have the bone in your inventory.
Assuming the river route is guaranteed
The route north of the Norgandian Settlement is a recommended starting area, not a confirmed fixed spawn. Search farther north, across Norgan, or in the far northwest if necessary.

Searching outside Norgan
Snowdeer are identified as native to Norgan. Begin there instead of spending time in unrelated regions.
Assuming a wrong offering causes a failure
The VGC walkthrough reports no consequence for incorrect offerings. A mistaken attempt can provide another hint, so you can use the dialogue path without treating the quest as permanently damaged.
Returning to Isla before obtaining the bone
Isla can explain the request through dialogue, but completion requires the Snowdeer Bone. Return for the final handover only after examining a Snowdeer corpse and confirming the item is in your inventory.
