Choose Standard if you want the complete base game at the lower listed U.S. price or want to decide about extras later. Choose Ultimate if the listed in-game bonuses justify the higher price to you at checkout. Both editions include Grand Theft Auto VI, and Standard owners can buy the digital Ultimate Edition Upgrade later, although its price has not been published in the official information checked for this guide.
The game launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026. Digital preload starts November 12 at local midnight. Before ordering, verify your country, storefront, platform, preorder-bonus terms and whether a physical code-in-a-box meets your expectations.
The two GTA 6 editions at a glance
Rockstar’s current lineup has two choices: Standard Edition and Ultimate Edition. There is no separate physical Ultimate package. Both editions provide the game itself; Ultimate adds the content described by Rockstar as the Ultimate Edition Upgrade.
| Edition | What is included | U.S. listed price reference | Format | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Edition | Grand Theft Auto VI | $79.99, announced by Take-Two and displayed by the U.S. PlayStation Store | Digital, or a physical box containing a download code | Players who want the base game, the lower listed price, or the option to decide on extras later |
| Ultimate Edition | Grand Theft Auto VI plus the Ultimate Edition Upgrade content | $99.99, announced by Take-Two and displayed by the U.S. PlayStation Store | Digital only | Players who already want Rockstar’s listed in-game extras at launch |
The two dollar figures are U.S. references, not worldwide prices. Your country’s currency, taxes, storefront rules and local pricing can change the total. Check the final purchase screen rather than converting the U.S. figures yourself.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
What the Ultimate Edition actually adds
The premium is for digital game content, not a larger physical package, a disc or a different console version. Rockstar’s editions information lists the following items:
- The ’95 Grotti Cheetah
- Hawk & Little Morgan Revolvers
- Personalized weapon variants
- Vice City styles
- Jason’s safehouse vehicles
- Ganado Retro Build
- Rideout Customs Mod Shop
- Sara’s Unisex Salon
- Shitzu Squalo
- Stock 305 Clothing Store
- ’67 Vapid Dominator Buggy and Garage
- Electric Fang Tattoo Parlor
- One-Eyed Willie’s Mod Shop
- Goodtime Gear
- PTT Youngin$ Compound
- Classic Car Collection
These are in-game unlocks, vehicles, locations, styles, equipment or other game-world content named on Rockstar’s list. They are not separate physical products or guaranteed real-world collectibles. Rockstar’s public description does not assign a separate cash value to each item, so the sensible comparison is whether the bundle as a whole matters to your way of playing.
When Ultimate is easier to justify
- You intend to explore customization, vehicles, properties, clothing and side activities immediately.
- You would otherwise be tempted to buy every listed add-on later and prefer receiving the bundle with the game.
- You care about having the Ultimate content available from the beginning rather than waiting for a later upgrade purchase.
When Standard is the safer choice
- You mainly want the campaign and the standard game experience.
- You are unsure whether the named vehicles, locations and customization items will affect your enjoyment.
- You want to keep the initial spend lower while preserving a confirmed route to upgrade later.
Standard can be upgraded later
Rockstar states that Standard owners can purchase the Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition Upgrade separately through the PlayStation or Microsoft storefront after redeeming the Standard code. That makes Standard a flexible choice: you do not have to decide the value of the extras before playing.
The official pages checked for this guide do not state the upgrade price. Do not assume that buying Standard first and upgrading will cost exactly the difference between the two launch editions. Compare the live upgrade price with the Ultimate checkout price when the add-on appears on your account.

Buying a physical Standard copy does not change this rule. The box supplies a code; after redemption, the entitlement is handled through the platform account, and the upgrade is a digital storefront purchase.
Physical versus digital: the box contains a code, not a disc
Rockstar’s exact description is: “The physical version of GTAVI will contain a download code that can be used for the digital download of the game. A disc will not be included in the box.” The physical Standard Edition is therefore a code-in-a-box product. You need an internet connection to redeem the code and download the game, and the code becomes tied to the relevant platform account under that platform’s rules.
Rockstar says physical copies are expected to be available for shipping or pickup beginning November 12, 2026. That date is earlier than the November 19 launch, but it does not turn the box into an early-play copy; the game’s release entitlement and platform restrictions still apply.
Ultimate is digital only. If you want a shelf item, a retailer pickup or a giftable box, the physical Standard Edition is the applicable choice, provided a download code meets your needs. If you specifically require a disc for lending, resale or use on a system with limited storage, neither listed format provides that disc.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.

Release, preorder and preload dates
| Event | Date or timing | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Preorders opened | June 25, 2026, at midnight local time | Take-Two announced the start of preorder sales; the exact clock time follows local storefront timing. |
| Physical availability target | November 12, 2026 | Rockstar expects physical Standard copies to ship or be available for pickup from this date. |
| Digital preload | November 12, 2026, at local midnight | Digital buyers can begin downloading before release where the platform enables preload. |
| Game release | November 19, 2026 | Grand Theft Auto VI launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. |
| Vintage Vice City Pack cutoff | Purchases made before November 20, 2026 | Rockstar says purchases before this date receive the pack, subject to the applicable storefront terms. |
“Before November 20” is a purchase deadline, not a promise that every retailer will have stock until that moment. If the pack matters to you, read the offer language on the store where you are actually buying and keep your receipt or order confirmation.
Preorder bonuses and GTA+ conditions
Vintage Vice City Pack
Rockstar says both digital and physical preorders include the Vintage Vice City Pack, and that purchases made before November 20, 2026 receive it. The offer can be affected by the platform and storefront, so confirm that the item appears in the listing or order summary before paying.
One included month of GTA+
Digital preorders include one month of GTA+. The U.S. PlayStation Store describes this month as account-bound, limited to one redemption per account, and set to auto-renew after the included month unless you cancel. It is a subscription benefit, not permanent game ownership.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
If you do not want a paid renewal, review the subscription screen immediately after redemption and cancel according to the platform’s account settings while retaining the included period. Check the exact renewal price, billing date and eligibility on your storefront because those details can vary by country.

Platform and region checks
The confirmed launch platforms are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. No PlayStation 4, Xbox One or PC edition is listed in the official edition information covered here. Buy only for a console you own and for the account you intend to use.
PlayStation code regions
Rockstar warns that PlayStation redemption depends on the account region and recommends purchasing from a retailer in the country associated with that account. A code bought for a different country can fail to activate even when the console hardware is identical. Before ordering, compare the retailer’s country, the code’s stated region and your PlayStation account country.
Xbox code regions
Rockstar’s support information says Xbox codes purchased are not region-locked. You still need the correct Xbox platform edition and a compatible account, and local pricing, taxes and storefront availability can differ.

Console storage and connection
Because the physical Standard package is a download code, both physical and digital buyers should plan for a full game download and any launch updates. The official information supplied for this comparison does not state the installation size or a required download speed, so check the platform listing when those specifications are published.

A practical method for comparing the editions
- Set your platform first. Decide whether you are buying for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S. Do not compare a code from one platform with a digital listing for the other.
- Set your country and account region. Open the storefront tied to the account that will play the game. Record the displayed currency, taxes and final total.
- Compare the two totals at checkout. Use the live regional prices, not the U.S. references in articles or screenshots. Include any delivery fee for a physical box.
- List the Ultimate items you would actually use. Mark vehicles, properties, shops, clothing, weapons and other content that appeals to you. If the list does not change how you expect to play, Standard is usually the rational starting point.
- Value flexibility. Standard has a confirmed later-upgrade path, but the upgrade price is not published in the checked sources. Treat that uncertainty as part of the decision.
- Choose your format. Select digital for account delivery and preload convenience, or physical Standard for a box and retailer fulfillment. Remember that physical means code-in-box, not disc.
- Verify the bonus language. Look for the Vintage Vice City Pack, the included GTA+ month and any account or auto-renewal conditions in the exact listing.
- Save proof of purchase. Keep the order email, code receipt and region information until the game and every advertised bonus are visible on your account.
Which GTA 6 edition should I buy?
Choose Standard digital when
You want the game quickly, prefer preload, do not need a box and are uncertain about the Ultimate extras. This is also the cleanest route if you may upgrade later but do not want to pay for the bundle before playing.
Choose Standard physical when
You want a boxed purchase, pickup or shipping option and accept downloading the game from a code. Confirm the retailer’s country and return policy, since an opened or revealed code may not be returnable.
Choose Ultimate digital when
You already know you want Rockstar’s listed in-game content and are comfortable paying the higher regional price at launch. It removes the need to revisit the upgrade decision, but it does not provide a physical edition.

Your account region, console, retailer or bonus eligibility is unclear. Resolve those details first; a cheaper code that cannot be redeemed is not a saving.
Common mistakes and fixes
| Problem | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| PlayStation code will not redeem | The code region does not match the account region, or the code was entered on the wrong platform | Check the account country and retailer region. Contact the seller or platform support with the receipt; do not repeatedly trade codes with strangers. |
| Physical buyer expected a disc | The product description was skimmed | Re-read the listing: the physical Standard box contains a download code only. Return options depend on the retailer and whether the code was exposed. |
| GTA+ starts billing | The included month auto-renewed | Cancel renewal in the platform subscription settings before the next billing date. Keep the confirmation email. |
| Bonus is missing | The purchase missed the cutoff, the offer was platform-specific, or redemption is pending | Check the order date, edition, account and storefront terms, then contact platform or Rockstar support with proof of purchase. |
| Upgrade option is not visible | The Standard code has not been redeemed, or the storefront has not enabled the add-on for your account | Redeem the code on the intended account, restart the storefront and search the game’s add-ons. If it remains unavailable, ask platform support; the public information does not provide a universal release time for the upgrade listing. |
What the official information does—and does not—establish
Rockstar and Take-Two have published the two-edition structure, launch platforms, dates, U.S. price references, format rules, bonus descriptions and the later-upgrade route. They have not published a universal worldwide price, a single price for the Ultimate upgrade, installation-size requirements or guaranteed stock for every retailer and country. Treat those details as storefront-specific and verify them at the time of purchase.
The information cited here comes from Rockstar Games Customer Support pages updated August 18 and June 26, 2026, Take-Two Interactive Software’s June 24, 2026 preorder announcement, Rockstar’s official editions information and the U.S. PlayStation Store listing. Store pages can change, so the final checkout screen remains authoritative for your account and region.
Final decision
For most undecided buyers, Standard is the lower-risk purchase: it includes the game, has a confirmed digital upgrade path and is available as either digital or code-in-box. Select Ultimate now only when its named in-game content is worth the higher local price to you. Whichever edition you choose, verify the platform, region, preorder cutoff and subscription renewal terms before submitting payment.
