In the cited Geekbench 6 snapshot, Apple’s A16 Bionic scores higher than MediaTek’s Dimensity 9200 in both single-core and multi-core CPU tests. NanoReview’s AnTuTu 11 totals numerically favor the Dimensity chip, but NanoReview cautions that Android and iOS scores are not directly comparable. For graphics, the cited GPU Compute results also use different APIs, so they are not a platform-neutral ranking. Compare the benchmark version and test conditions—and remember that a phone’s cooling, software, memory and power limits affect real-world performance.
Dimensity 9200 vs A16 Bionic specifications
The two processors use different architectures and belong to different phone ecosystems. Their core counts and clock speeds describe their designs; they do not, by themselves, establish which chip is faster.
| Area | MediaTek Dimensity 9200 | Apple A16 Bionic |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | One Arm Cortex-X3 core up to 3.05 GHz, three Cortex-A715 cores up to 2.85 GHz, and four Cortex-A510 cores up to 1.8 GHz. MediaTek’s specifications | Six CPU cores: two performance cores and four efficiency cores, as listed for iPhone 14 Pro. Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro technical specifications |
| Graphics | Arm Immortalis-G715 GPU with hardware ray tracing. MediaTek’s specifications | Five-core GPU in Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro specifications. Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro technical specifications |
| AI hardware | APU 690. MediaTek lists vendor-specific generational improvements, not a directly comparable test against Apple’s Neural Engine. MediaTek’s specifications | 16-core Neural Engine. Apple described it at launch as capable of nearly 17 trillion operations per second; that is an Apple figure, not a matched test against the APU 690. Apple’s 2022 launch announcement |
| Memory and storage | LPDDR5X memory up to 8533 Mbps and UFS 4.0 storage with MCQ, according to MediaTek. The memory figure is a published platform specification, not measured phone throughput. MediaTek’s specifications | Not specified as a like-for-like chip-level comparison in the cited iPhone 14 Pro specifications. Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro technical specifications |
| Connectivity | Wi-Fi 7-capable platform and 5G support including sub-6 GHz and mmWave where available. A handset’s design and market determine which capabilities it supports. MediaTek’s specifications | The cited Apple specifications do not provide a directly comparable modem feature list for the A16 chip. Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro technical specifications |
What the benchmark results show
NanoReview’s accessed comparison snapshot reports these scores. It lists three Geekbench 6 tests for the Dimensity 9200 and 24 for the A16 Bionic, so the sample counts are uneven. Treat the figures as a comparison-page snapshot, not results from a controlled, matched-phone lab test. NanoReview’s comparison

Why benchmark versions and conditions matter
A score is meaningful only in the context of its test, version, device and settings. MediaTek’s November 16, 2022 benchmark materials list AnTuTu v9.2.6, Geekbench 5.1.0, and specific GFXBench Manhattan and Aztec Ruins configurations. Those vendor-published results can show which tests MediaTek used, but they are not an independent, same-device comparison with the A16. Do not mix them with Geekbench 6 or AnTuTu 11 scores. Which chip is faster?
For the CPU tests shown
The A16 Bionic leads both Geekbench 6 CPU scores in NanoReview’s snapshot. That supports a qualified conclusion about those reported tests, not a guarantee that every A16 phone will outperform every Dimensity 9200 phone in every task.
For AnTuTu and graphics
The AnTuTu 11 totals should not be used to declare the Dimensity 9200 the overall winner: the source explicitly says Android and iOS scores are not directly comparable. The Geekbench 6 GPU Compute figures also use different APIs, so the larger A16 number does not provide a clean, platform-neutral GPU verdict. For gaming or graphics work, compare the same game or test, API, settings and specific phone where possible.

For AI performance
MediaTek’s APU 690 and Apple’s 16-core Neural Engine are different vendor-designed blocks. Apple’s nearly 17-trillion-operations-per-second statement is a launch-announcement claim, not a matched measurement against MediaTek’s APU. The cited specifications do not establish which chip delivers better AI performance on a comparable workload.
How the phone affects the comparison
A processor is only one part of a handset. Cooling and power limits influence sustained performance; memory configuration and software affect responsiveness; and device design shapes connectivity and other day-to-day behavior. Apple identifies iPhone 14 Pro as an A16 Bionic phone, while Geekbench’s live device table includes Vivo X90 models with Dimensity 9200. Those entries provide examples of phones using the chips, not matched-condition tests, and database submissions can change. Geekbench’s Android device table

The cited sources do not establish a controlled, matched-phone battery-life winner for these processors. Vendor specifications or efficiency claims alone cannot settle how long two complete phones last under the same use.

If you are deciding between devices rather than chips, compare the exact phone models and configurations. Check sustained performance and thermal behavior, software support, camera and display design, region-specific connectivity, and price and condition. Confirm the model and regional configuration before relying on a feature or assuming a device is available in your market.
